Nischala Nicole,
The only app that’s worked for more than a couple of months!
I am autistic, with ADHD, PTSD, and a severe processing delay. Project Camus is the only app I’ve found that works for me long term. I’ve been using the paid version since June of 2022 and have missed a few days here and there but on average, most months I complete daily check ins with no issue. A big part of what keeps me interested is the rewards system they have set up! There is a free version of the app where you can also earn rewards, but for me the paid version is the one that works because I am putting something into it then getting something back the more I engage with it. The app is non intrusive- it doesn’t annoy the crap out of you with pop ups or distract you with advertisements. There are not so many features that you get overwhelmed or that you wander off course due to so many options. It’s really easy to navigate and it’s easy to keep up on a daily practice with this app. I love the recent addition of the self administered EMDR, and each time I redeem a “box” I am surprised with an item I can tell was chosen with care. The several times I’ve reached out to customer support they’ve been responsive and kind. The only thing I would change about this wonderful app is adding more diverse avatars.

Great app even without the rewards
It’s been hard for me to find apps that work through mental health issues using a scientific basis for treatment, that aren’t wildly expensive. I appreciate that this app isn’t overly pushy with reminders to log thoughts/behaviors/etc., as that’s usually more annoying than productive for me. I love the trauma workspace in Camus, and the Hope board which is a cute small space for calm and inspiration. I also like that you can track your analytics. My most used feature is tracking negative thoughts. Therapists have told me to do this in the past, and it really works for me when I’m consistent — this makes it so much easier than carrying around a journal or charts. The UI isn’t fancy, but that’s the least important part of a mental health app (and, I think, part of the tradeoff for why less helpful apps are expensive).
Turellyyy,
Most Effective App for Self-Care and Mental Health
I’mma be extremely blunt with y’all. I was attracted to this app solely to get rewards. But I actually explored through this app and it has great sources and tools that can help one do the best they can to do some self-reflecting and hopefully achieve inner peace. Granted we all have bad days but this app does a great job where you can track negative feelings, and you have the option of journaling about it, or you can simply just receive the advice the app gives you. One thing I DONT like about this app is the user-interface. I feel as though the all has TOO much going on and it needs to be simple and flow smoothly. The app needs lots of work to make it a functional app. But it has GREAT Content. I have added journaling to my New Year’s resolutions and I have been consistent with it (PHYSICALLY) i like the journaling option on the app. But I don’t like how the app displays it. That is just my opinion but overall, it is truly a great app for those who need a place where they can spend some time trying to truly get better with their mental health. The app has you explore what your feeling, any negative thoughts at the moment, and so much more. And you get REWARDS from doing this… so literally what is stopping you guys?! Learning more about yourself while getting rewards?!? Sign me up!!
AshCatSilver,
Too many bugs, frustrating
I absolutely LOVE this idea for an app, and think it would be very helpful if the app worked properly. I saw an ad on Facebook and signed up to try it, I had just set up my profile and was writing my first journal entry… after awhile it started to freeze up when I was typing which was getting pretty infuriating by itself, but then after I had nearly a whole book chapter of pouring my heart out about my most traumatic life altering experience the app crashed and erased everything I had written… I had spent an hour at least writing and there’s no way I’m writing it all again now… I’m hesitant to try journaling here again at all if that’s what is going to happen when I try… now I’m crying because I just dug up really painful memories and then I lost everything I just put all that effort into writing down… I don’t see any save as you go options either, just a done button. I’m really sad that this was my experience, I can see how this app would be helpful if it didn’t just do me so dirty like that. I’m deleting unfortunately because I can’t put myself through that again… wish I wouldn’t have wasted my time to just lose it.
Buggsy97,
A little misleading. A little hard to use. Maybe helpful?
I like the idea of this app, but I don’t like how it works. The AI is actually quite good, but the rewards system seems strange :you get 9 points when you do your first thing- very rewarding to our dopamine starved brains! Do the follow up the next day, you get a fraction of a point. That feels very bait and switchy to the kind of folks who might use this app - making the rewards so much smaller so fast feels like you’re trying to trick us.
Also not a fan of having to log in every time I open the app. iPhone only stores passwords for websites, apparently. Remembering a password for a therapy app is a little stressful.

I like what you’re up to, but some of your backend tech is frustrating to at least one neurotypical person. I don’t think I could justify paying for it as is.
I’m going to keep trying to use it and see if it frustrates me less. But I’m tired of thinking of passwords I think I can remember. :(
Becks4ever,
A great counseling app!
As someone who struggles with trauma related anxiety and depression and adhd this app is so useful, inspiring and comforting. The counseling is AI but it’s very useful and knowledgable! You can check in with a counselor anytime night or day. The journaling section is great because the app watches for trends so you can learn about your self in a new way. Theres a hope board to stash uplifting quotes for when you need a little inspiration. Plus you can earn points with every journal entry to go toward some cool prices. There’s other features too, I just haven’t had the time to explore: like the goal tracker too. It’s like a one stop shop for mental health and physical health that gives you a dopamine kicker with prices for the work you do! I would, in short, totally recommend this app to anyone!
YorkChocolate,
Amazingly Developed
I’m new to this app, but have tried many self care/therapy apps in the past. I have been so impressed with the way this app is developed!! It really does provide motivation to journal and take care of myself. I love the AI therapists and the customization for them. The reward system is easy to use and I’m truly blown away by how seen, heard, and cared for I can feel from a single application on my device. I’m still learning all the other features such as setting goals, but the instructions are very easy for me to understand and I really enjoy the writing prompts and the way they provoke a deeper perspective. Seriously, well done! I am very excited to see how this app continues to develop and track my progress.
Olivia.Burke,
So happy they finally have an app!
I’ve been using Project Camus for a few months online, eagerly awaiting an eventual app release. It’s more than I could have ever hoped for! There’s self-led EMDR sessions, meal planning (keeping any disordered eating in mind), self directed CBT studies, and you earn points by doing all of this. You literally earn points for taking care of yourself…and you can cash the points in for some unique rewards. I’m ordering a Cozy Box with mine and I can’t wait to see what’s inside! I’ve been using Camus in conjunction with regular therapy and it’s helped me so much in times when I can’t immediately connect with my therapist. 10/10 will recommend each and every time ⭐️
Charlotte Singer,
So happy to finally have the app!
I’ve been using Project Camus since it was mobile only but not yet a true app. It’s SO robust and utilizes many different aspects of mental and physical health to help users track change over time, identify triggers and negative thoughts, and work toward goals. Unlike most two-tiered systems, the free version has plenty for users, and I love that the journal has a separate password (a password inside the already password protected app). Plus, it incentivizes users for daily use and activity with points that can be redeemed for items that further promote wellbeing (think weighted blankets, massage guns, coloring books, journals). Keep up the great work, Project Camus team!
cirelynn,
Awesome features
Thank you to the creative people behind this app, this is truly an amazing and inspiring experience and has been very helpful in assisting me in my mental health journey. The self EMDR techniques and the journaling exercises have helped me makes tremendous strides in better understanding and improving my triggers and stressors. There are so many wonderful exercises and tools that everyone can find something that works for them. Awesome stuff and it has helped me with my relationships with both family and friends. I would highly recommend this app to anyone who wants to gain some clarity and insight into their own life. Thank you Project Camus for a job well done.
