Description

"The most fun we've had with an iPad app in a LONG time!" - Quilter's Connection Magazine

**** Visit: www.quiltography.co.uk for videos and more.

A #1 Lifestyle App and the highest rated and best selling Quilting App Available.

Quiltography is a unique, time and money saving mobile digital quilt design tool for the modern quilter. Reduce the need to buy expensive quilt patterns, limit fabric wastage and make it quick and easy to search and audition fabrics to help design your next quilt.

** New Feature for v1.3: Yardage Calculator **

Need a helping hand working out an estimate for the fabric requirements for your newly designed quilt? Quiltography now does all the hard work for you. Just one button press away and you can have a full breakdown of the number blocks required as well as the quilt dimensions and estimated yardage for each fabric within the entire quilt.

** Your Stash, Your Way **

Take your fabric everywhere you go. Quiltography saves you money as there is no need to buy too much fabric or accidentally purchase duplicate fabrics. Record how much you have, where you got it from, when you purchased it and even how much it cost.

Quiltography automatically scans your fabric and picks up to 5 of the top colours to help categorise your fabrics, this saves you time and frees you up to do what you do best, quilt.

You can even import images of fabric you saved from the internet so you can audition fabrics before you even purchase them.

** Templates Galore **

Choose from over 180 hand crafted traditional block templates. Quiltography contains more block designs than any other mobile app. Each block is named to help beginners find tutorials online to bridge the gap between Quiltography and the vast quantities of quilting tutorials online.

Each block can be customised with any fabric imported into Quiltography. This helps users understand how the blocks come together and establish if fabrics will work together on the most basic level.

** Design Blocks **

Feeling adventurous? Create your own block templates from scratch. Pick a shape to add it to the grid, it animates onscreen and positions itself ready to be resized, rotated and flipped into place.

Colour your shapes to add definition to your designs. Use the template block designer to create something unique or to replicate a block you love.

** Audition Fabrics **

Auditioning virtual fabrics in Quiltography saves you from cutting into expensive fabric to find out they just don’t work, not to mention the feeling of knowing that the fabric in your local shop will look perfect in your next quilt before you even get to the checkout.

** Create Quilts **

Quiltography is so easy to use, you can create and edit quilts in seconds. Search blocks you have previously created by the colour of the fabrics they contain or instantly create something new.

Quiltography allows you to add a border around your quilt comprised of blocks, this gives the flexibility of designing something classic and simple or something much more fun and exciting.

Adjust the sashing width, add cornerstones, flip and rotate blocks. The quilt design tool also allows you to link matching blocks, this saves you time and lets you change multiple blocks instantly.

** Instant Photo Quilts **

Ever wanted to turn photos into quilts, this feature is for you. Simply import a photo of your choosing, and, in the blink of an eye, Quiltography will turn your image into a unique pixellated quilt design.

If the masses of squares are a little too overwhelming, not a problem, the photoQuilt feature offers an exclusive PDF pattern exporting tool. At the tap of a button, your photoQuilt will be turned into an easy to follow pattern that can be shared with friends or family.

Immortalise someone special using photoQuilt by Quiltography.

*** NEW KEY FEATURE - Template Block Creator ***

You can now create your own reusable template blocks using key shapes.

- Pick from a collection of traditional block shapes.
- Select the size of your grid.
- Drag and Drop your shape into place.
- Flip, rotate and resize with ease.
- Delete shapes you don't like.
- Color shapes to help visualise the design.
- Integrates into the existing workflow.
- Name your block and save for use in any quilt.

*** Added Block Names to the Template Blocks:

Sometimes, different people have different names for the same block. The names have been added due to a few requests for them to be included, the inclusion is for your convenience only.

*** The original image is now saved to the camera roll when taking a photo for the photoQuilt feature.

*** Fixed: Music played my 3rd party apps in the background would inadvertently pause the music when saving fabric. This no longer happens.

** Fixed a problem that would prevent a block from saving when it had been customised.

*** Enhanced the images created from saved blocks. Some blocks would add a small gap on the bottom and right hand sides. This no longer happens.

*** Additional minor bug fixes and enhancements

This update Includes:

A new home screen - Designed to better help orientate users, more specifically, it makes it friendlier for new users and those that need a bit of additional guidance. The new home screen also provides extra flexibility and space to add more features over the coming weeks and months. There is also a news ticker on the bottom to directly provide important news.

photoQuilt PDF's - The photoQuilt tool will now auto save your PDF when you create it and can be viewed at a later date in one easy to access place.

Added 2 new blocks - As requested, I have added the "Two Rectangle" block and the "Half Square Triangles" block, apologies if you have another name for them.

Fixed a bug - One that would cause the App to crash if you repeatedly selected images for the photoQuilt in quick succession.

Increased Template Block Contrast - As requested, it was agreed that the template blocks could use a higher contrast as some users found it difficult to identify and distinguish some blocks apart.

Easier to contact us - We have added more convenient ways to contact us directly in the App, and if you like us, we have also made it easier to rate us on the App store without leaving the App too.

Additional minor fixes and updates.

** We have a lot more on the way, please don't forget to review Quiltography on the App store **

Ria12312,
Please let us edit blocks!
I love that this app can do so many things like stash your fabric patterns and estimate material amounts needed! BUT not being able to edit the shapes in custom blocks after creating them does make it difficult for me to design with this app, however custom designing was the main reason I downloaded this app. I can change fabric choice but am unable to make the little changes with the shapes in my block, and instead have to completely start over! Please add a simple edit option!
I find myself using other simple sketchbook apps in order to flesh out my designs, as my final block edits are made after seeing how each of the blocks flow into each other to create the whole quilt, but I cannot make these edits to the blocks when putting together a quilt through Quiltography. Using these sketchbook apps makes this process very time consuming with hand drawing each shape, so I hope Quiltography adds the option to edit in this way for more fast and efficient designing.
Lisamult,
Great app, but with significant limitations
I love designing quilts with this app. With the ability to upload my own fabric, I can see accurately what the finished quilt would look like, And the yardage calculator is a godsend. However, the limitations are too significant to merit 5 stars.

1. The blocks can only be square. While it wouldn't be a problem with many traditional quilts, it severely limits the types of quilts that can be designed. There are many quilt designs with rectangular, triangle, or even hexagon blocks. Those are not an option with this app.
2. The border options are basically zero. You can only have one 5" border. This is pretty strange, given that there are almost endless ways to design borders on a quilt, including multiple borders, pieced borders, etc.
3. Same with sashing. You can have cornerstones, but that's about it. I wanted to design a quilt with Ohio stars as part of the cornerstone and sashing, but it's not possible with this app. Also, it's impossible to tell how wide the sashing is when adjusting with the sliding bar. You have to exit the screen and click another button to see any dimensions. Very frustrating.

I do love this app. If it were making only very traditional quilts with Just one 5-inch borders, I wouldn't have any complaints. But I find the above limitations puzzling, and frustrating.
T2K39,
Quick design tool
Easy to learn and work with! Would love to be able to change the size of the borders and add multiple borders. Also a sort on the block wheel would be nice, as would a sort on the fabric stash. When trying to template a 54 40 or fight block, you have to overlap the triangle over the square and it doesn’t always work or remain overlapped. I know you are not supposed to overlap but there is no other way with the shapes available. More shapes or an increase on the number of shapes per block would make it more flexible. Overall I really like the app and 2 people I recommended this to have purchased it. Any recommendations for the 54 40 or fight block would be appreciated.
Pippacabra,
In love with this app.
I had been trying for a long time to figure out how to keep track of my stash without having to cut off the corners and staple them into notebooks. When I was searching the App Store for what seemed like the hundredth time I came across this one. As I read the description and reviews my heart jumped for joy. When I saw the price my heart sank. I decided I wasn't ready to pay that. After several months and lots of trying to find "that fabric i bought for that one project" 5 years ago, I finally decided it was worth it to buy the app.

I love being able to take pictures of my fabric, make notes as to how much I bought, what project it is for and most importantly where I put it. I also like being able to use the block templates or create my own with the pictures of my fabrics. I also like being able to create a quilt with the blocks and fabrics I have.

I have showed this app to several quilting friends and they really like it too. However they do not have iPads and most likely are not going to get one just for this app. I think it would be beneficial to them and the developers of this app to make it for the google store as well.

I am in love with this app. ❤️
Googoogwenny,
Really Handy App
I have used many quilt designing apps over the years, including the cost-prohibitive behemoth, Electric Quilt. I really needed something more affordable that I can use on my iPad, something I could use to get my ideas and fabrics in a design more quickly than what I can render by hand. Quiltography fits the bill for me.

I am enjoying the way the tutorials are presented. The collection of quilt blocks is ample and well-done. Creating custom blocks and adding fabrics to the pre-designed blocks is straight forward. Adding my own fabrics to the stash is easy and the overall user interface is really pleasant. I am looking forward to getting more familiar with this app.
A bug!,
Doesn’t work too well
Good idea but execution is lacking. Just created a block, all pieces are filled in, but it won’t save. Frustrating. It says the block isn’t finished. You can’t adjust the size of your fabrics to show more of the design in a piece. You can’t overlap pieces when creating a block so curves are really hard to do (example the Cathedral Window design). Adding things like copy and paste when creating blocks would be good. Can’t seem to edit a block once you create it. Would be helpful when you’re designing a block that when you touch a spot on the block if the selection wheel would go around to the fabric. Idea : Save your fabric swatches you plan to use in a particular quilt by that quilt name so you can pull them up all together; this would help you avoid having to search for a specific fabric.

The Best Quilt Enabler Ever
Wow wow wow this will blow you mind amazing less than 24 hrs you will build your virtual quilt and go fetch your fabric yardage omg it does it all, what would have take me days weeks even months to create from pencil and paper now thanks to your awesomeness I spend more time building and producing than turning and burning midnight oil bless you bless you many blessings to you and yours you are a genuinely gifted individual please stay true to who you are no matter how rich you will be please donot let fame derail you keep up the great progress 👍🏻 you nailed this one ❤️ I am also going to try the photo side see how that plays out for me I have a feeling it will amen TY
Lezro,
So glad that I found this app!
This is what a simple straightforward quilting app should be: fairly simple & straightforward! It has a few irritating habits, mainly forcing you into square blocks & not permitting fabric changes or simple color changes from the quilt window (you have to go back and make a different block for every change, which is a PITA). However the price is right for what it can do, and the learning curve isn't bad at all. If you could do color/fabric changes from the quilt window it would be ideal. I think it works better if you only put fabric into the "stash" that you are using for a given project, mainly to keep your memory use within reason.
Auntie2222,
Very helpful app, loads of fun for planning
I really love using Quiltography. I can spend hours playing with designs using fabric I already own or want to purchase. There are two problems I have, both probably due to my being a relative quilting newbie.
1. The fabric calculator is great, but for complex cuts it doesn't give you block measurements. I find I need to work that out myself based on my grid and the block size.
2. Because you cannot overlap shapes in the blocks, I find I have to use a more complicated design than I will really use in the end. Again, there is probably something obvious I'm missing. Oh, and it would be nice to have a cheat sheet for standard quilt size dimensions.
Whitkm,
Need more options for customization
Great app, and I love that I can design custom blocks, but we need more options for editing within that. For starters, we need different shapes, or to be able to draw completely custom shapes. Hexagons would go a long way! Also need more triangle sizes and options, filling out the grid instead of having to overlap which of course the app doesn’t like and it makes the design harder to see. I wanted to completely design custom quilts and while this is good for fitting the blocks together, I find myself having to just sketch my block design out on paper because I can’t capture enough detail on this app.
