Description

Do you know your limit when it comes to drinking? Did you know that even one or two drinks can impair your ability to drive? Always plan for a safe ride home BEFORE you start drinking.

R-U- Buzzed estimates your blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level based on the interaction of weight, gender, time you’ve been drinking and alcohol consumed. For this calculator, one drink is considered to be equal to 12 oz. of beer, 5 oz. of wine or 1.5 oz. of hard liquor.

Use the “Need a Ride?” button to connect to popular ride-hailing services, including Uber, Lyft, zTrip and Curb.

******************

Disclaimer: This blood alcohol concentration (BAC) calculator is only an estimate and is not sufficiently accurate to be considered legal evidence. The calculations are averages, and many variables could affect an individual’s BAC level.

Food in the stomach, medications, health and psychological conditions are influencing factors and many establishments serve alcohol in portions larger than the standard drink size. Do not use the R-U- Buzzed app to determine whether you should operate a motor vehicle or other heavy equipment. It is never safe to drive after any amount of alcohol. You can be arrested for impaired driving if your driving ability is affected to even the slightest degree.

R-U- Buzzed is provided by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).

StupidZebra,
Thanks for this service! But...
I just saw this on the news, and thought I'd give it a try, since personal breathalizers are so expensive. (The most accurate way to test; you can't cheat it! Check out mythbusters...) And I realize it is not meant to be legal evidence, but a guide. That's all right! We need more of those! However... There are many things it does not consider: metabolism (they said as much), individual's capacity, how much you ate, etc. (there must be others, but I can't think now). I know it's not medical! It doesn't have to be! But it could help as a "guide." Such as asking questions first as a sort of "personal profile" in the form of a QUICK simple "survey" so the program can get a sense of the person's particular... Make-up? I don't know what word to use. Things like what the person feels like with such and such drink under certain circumstances... OK- it's late, I can't think properly anymore. Hope I got my (long) points out clearly. *sorry*

In short (for me) it's WAY too sensitive! It basically says I'm wasted or buzzed when I hardly had anything... enough to affect ME. And don't worry, I'm VERY careful! One drink that does hardly anything for one person, could completely knock OUT another. Large gap there.

It gets one extra  for being free.
4+ Year Wazer,
Will get you in trouble
No differentiation between different ABV drinks. No timer, it's up to you to adjust everything. If the app goes into the background, everything is lost and you have to reenter it. Absolutely not something I want to rely on. Especially if I'm going to be drinking... which is the point of the app.
Based Gxd,
Great app
Great app for a general idea. It's not 100% precise but it gets you in a general area of your intoxication level.
Ventilator74,
Archaic! NEEDS AN UPDATE!
The app version is down right archaic! You need to update it VERY BADLY!
ibizarre,
No metric
Waste of time using ancient lb and oz
gLaNDix,
Missing feature
While I understand the limitations of a BAC calculator, one thing that is missing is a "I started drinking now" button. Thus elieviating the user to figure out the length of time on their own :)
Markpri,
Potentially dangerous app
Caution: Read the Disclaimer carefully. Many people using this will get arrested for impaired driving. These calculators can easily be off by 200% for any given individual. One reason is that alcohol metabolism rates vary from person to person three to four fold. If you can feel the least bit high or buzzed, you are too impaired to drive safely. Importantly, though, people with high tolerance are typically unaware of when they are impaired. So, if you use the calculator and it says you are unsafe to drive, don't drive. On the other hand, just because the calculator says you are okay does not mean you really are.

The best part of the app is the call a cab feature.
Juelz345,
Good estimates.
Tolerance has NOTHING to do with your BAC. Try getting pulled over by a cop, blowing over the limit and telling him you have a high tolerance, so it's fine.

This app uses the same formula they teach you in DUI courses and should be used as a point of reference, not an exact science. Another review complains that the figures are to high. It's better if it says a slightly higher figure then lower for the intents and purposes of the app.
Shivalika,
Not very good
Its not every good if say you have been taking shots which is frequently in my case and it also doesn't make a distinction if say you have been drinking something made out of smirnoff vodka compared to Bacardi 101. Also, the BAC calculator is much better because it's pretty much the same thing but more detailed and it's also free.
Dm732,
Decent
Seems to give somewhat accurate idea still eating and not eating would affect it
