Really good...!
I genuinely didn't have high expectations of this free app, but it's great! The sounds are clear, the app has bonus sounds on a monthly basis, and it runs in the background if you want to play the sounds while being on other apps (which defeats the purpose of a sleep sound app, I know...). It also has a timer so you can have the app automatically turn itself off after a certain amount of time, from 5 minutes up to 12 hours! There is a small ad at the bottom of the app screen, but if you're just listening and not looking at the app, it's not a bother.
Very well thought out app. I'm currently obsessed with "Small River in Scotland" sound and actually went ahead and purchased the full paid app with many other sounds options for a small fee.

Simply great
I think that the easiest way to describe this app is “simple”.
Succinct, easy to set up, and a broad range of rain sounds, all for free. If you like to imagine yourself in some remote locale gently drifting off to sleep, here is your portal. Or if you just wish some rain with your slumber, than this is simple enough. I’ve enjoyed some other apps with differing “white noises” akin to bonfires, shorelines, and more, which were all good in their own way, but this app offers the broadest range of rainfall I’ve ever encountered, from gentle showers to thundering storms, from all over the globe.
While you could spend more upon a similar app, I doubt you would find any that are better than this one. If you like this sort of thing, then it is most definitely recommended.

So far so ?
2018: Two years ago this was 5 stars. I stopped using it but downloaded it again this week. Not sure why the controls are under the Google ads at the bottom because i can’t see any controls. When I’m on the add sounds page i have no way of getting back to my home page. I went to pay for the app because of my review but find no way to do that. Did i pay for this app already? Then why am i seeing adds and why are the ads blocking everything? The sounds are still great but this interface snafu is very annoying. Without a response from dev on what i should do I’ll have to move on to another sounds app.
2016: I’ve had this for awhile but just started using it and I am very pleased. Not sure where the bonus sounds go when you download them so it'd be nice to know that. (They're not in My Sounds as far as I can see.) In the meantime, I create a mix and add the downloaded sound to it for safe keeping. Nice to nod off to. Thanks.

Beautiful, rich sounds of nature
I want to thank everyone who created the app and who made it come alive! I cannot sleep without sounds at all. But this app gave me the ability to create mixes with as many sounds as I want, a feature not included in any other rain apps I found. The rain apps I found had barely any thing to offer, except Rain Sounds had EVERYTHING to offer! It is complete with a 3D sound experience of soothing, relaxing sounds, from alluring ocean waves to torrential downpours to birds chirping high above in the trees. I highly recommend this app, with all of its amazing and stunning graphics and high definition sounds! Thank you again! I couldn't be so much more happier than I am now!

Perfect Sleep!
I love love love this FREE APP! Everyone needs this, if you just close your eyes and just listen, you can try to just lay on your back arms and legs straight palms up and concentrate on your toes first relax them, and then go to the ball of your feet relax then your arched heels, ankles and calves, and knees, thighs, every inch of your body concentrate on relax, somehow I can’t make it any farther than that before I know it I’m waking up and finding I’m in the infant position. And I FEEL GREAT!!! Well rested, and then stand and really stretch, enjoy your day and think positive thoughts, grab my coffee and Gods word and spend some time with Jesus, and talk to Him, Give Him Thanks for all you have been blest with.

Exactly what I was looking for!
I quite literally was looking for a specific rain sound from Cologne, and this app had it! There are lots of really soothing sound sets, and the timer feature lets me set it for as long (or as little) I might need it to run for. No more draining my battery overnight or needing to leave my phone plugged in! The ads are incredibly minimal and not invasive as far as I am concerned especially since they give you so many sound options. There is far more than just rain. You can also create custom playlists to string together your most relaxing and soothing soundscape. Give it a shot! This app has been and will be my go-to app for sleepy times :)

Best app EVER!
I’ve tried just about every sleep sound app out there and finally found this one and my quest is over. The rain sounds are incredible and the nature sounds are crisp and clear and put you right in the middle of a beautiful and tranquil oasis. Each night I set the timer for 45-60 minutes and am never awake to hear it stop. I’m a rotten sleeper with lousy sleep habits but this app just sends me drifting off blissfully to sleep and, wonder of wonders, I actually stay asleep! You wonderful people have done an amazing thing in creating this app and in capturing these incredibly clear and pristine sounds. Well done and thank you so very much!

As a former Seattleite I love rain. Now I’m in dry CA and I miss that rain sometimes the sounds are absolutely amazing and soooo many! Take one or mix many! Your choice.
Oh and rain isn’t all they have. Bazillion white noises, crackling fires, birds, forests.. just about anything you can imagine. If you miss the city they even have city ambiance. And you can mix them and decide which one is how load. Save the mixes. Set a timer to end listening... not sure what else you’ll want. Pretty amazing. And doesn’t drain battery.

This app is amazing
I like all the different choices I get to mix around but I do wish they would have more options besides just rain and thunder. The other random sounds like the waves or cricket sounds I favored those more than the rain. I wish they did have more ocean sounds like a roaring crashing waves, wind noises and more howl to a blizzard sound. Definitely I’d love more wildlife and background sounds like maybe jungle noises or different types of bird calls rather than just a wren. This has definitely helped me concentrate with studying better and my sleep has improved immensely. I give it 8.5/10 would recommend.
