I’m no one in particular.
Perhaps it was operator error but I was unable to get this app to do anything. The 20% potential variability was not generous enough. The sparse documentation was as vague as the app. It’s an app concept that’s needed but I deleted this version after 5 minutes. Probably should have deleted it sooner but I thought maybe I was missing the point.

Works as expected and very easy to use
The app works as intended. It seems like a very straightforward design using the angle and height of the phone to measure the distance. You select the height of your phone and then point the camera at the base of the object. Basic trig tells you the distance. I measured it against a tape measure and found it accurate. If you are having issues, you may have a bad gyro on your iPhone or something.
