This App has been created by an RC Cars and slot cars hobbyist (myself) that had a need: I wanted to know my lap times when practicing in my local club but the expensive Timing System was not installed. So I created RC Timing.
RC Timing is an App that tracks lap times for radio-control and slot cars. It can be used in both indoor and outdoor tracks.
This App is not intended to replace your club’s timing system. It is thought to help you in situations where you want to practice and the local timing system is not available.
It uses the video camera for tracking the car colors and it offers an easy and intuitive configuration.

Can’t drag car to active section - fixed
Like other would be users, I can’t drag the car to the active section. I am wondering if you need to purchase anything for that to be enabled but it is not clear at all in the description nor in the help section.

Still unable to track the car though, I will do more test perhaps with better lighting and a better tripod to hold the phone over the track.

Good but wish it had slightly more features
I like the app so far; I haven’t done a thorough test and setting camera car colors seems to be a little hard to get right but I’m figuring it out. I’m a little confused on some of the setup but overall seems very efficient at doing what you need it to do. I have purchased all the in app purchases to help support this team.
Some features that I would love to see
- Formula 1 style Starting Light Sequence when beginning the race
- It would be nice if you could have Driver profiles and could then attach different cars for each event to the driver. I have a lot of friends playing and we all take turns picking different cars. So it would be nice to see driver 1 and then could add car 1 and then the next race we could switch and say driver 1 is driving car 2.. then it could keep track of the driver history and race results.

Must-have app for all RC racers
This app might be one of the most surprising iPhone apps I've ever used. The method by which it works is incredibly ingenious, but I admit I was skeptical at first. My skepticism was unfounded, as it works incredibly well.
My testing was with a mostly solid colored Tekno 1/8 scale buggy. Tweaking the color tolerance and trigger level is really, really important, so don't skip this step. Aside from that, it works exactly as advertised.

Doesn’t work on my phone 😕
Looks like an amazing app and I plan on using it for my mini z track at home to keep track of my times but unfortunately it doesn’t work on my iPhone XR with the newest update on it IOS 14. I try to add cars to a session by hitting the edit button but it doesn’t not let me move the cars it just moves the page up and down. I will keep it downloaded to wait for a future update. I can’t wait for it to come!

Last lap
Love the app. I use it to track indoor Mini-Z cars drifting around a pvc home made 66 feet circuit. Surface is light beige tile. Lighting is bright and even. Using an iPhone 8 it tracks my dark red Honda Civic Type R very well (no stickers). It occasionally misses a blue car and has a hard time with a green car. Both the blue and green have small stickers here s and there.
It would be great to have a last lap announcement as an option.

A lot of potential!
I tried to use this outside. My car was white, and the camera was so washed out, even after adjusting settings, it couldn’t distinguish between sunlight on the dark asphalt and my white car. I tried adding a strip of red duct tape to the car, but the color was washed out the red stripe didn’t show up on the camera to select as the color of choice.

Great alternative to expensive timing systems.
Was looking to add timing for my backyard off-road track, didn’t want to spend over a grand for friends and my kids to drive so I started looking into apps. It took a bit to get this calibrated right to recognize the cars, but once I did it’s been great.

I love the app but....
Great app! I was actually very surprised how well this app works.... but..... I can’t seem to add more than one car for a race. I can do individual lap times, but I can’t seem to add more than one car for a race. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong. Overall great app.

Best timing system for on the go
App works great. Amazing for practicing at tracks at home or anywhere where there isn’t a timing system running. Only thing I would like to see is when running in the race option it speaks out loud to tell you what lap or how many laps is left. Other excellent timing app.

Perfect for garage practice!
Works amazingly well for an app based timing system! I race Mini Z and it works perfect for mostly solid colored cars. I do have one body that is hard for it to recognize, but my kiddo and I have a blast racing in the garage with this!
