This APP is the live streaming feed for Real Oldies 97.9 the WREN in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Most commercial stations play just a total of 400 to 800 songs. At Real Oldies 97.9 WREN our programming philosophy is different! We play a wide selection of oldies from the 50's, 60's, 70's and early 80's. We have nearly 3,000 oldies in our primary playlist! You'll hear mainstay oldies from the Beatles, Elvis, Elton John, Chuck Berry, the Bee Gees, Smokey Robinson and many more of course but you'll also hear pre-Rock N' Roll R&B, cool oldies that you rarely hear, one hit wonders and a small sampling of "standards" artists like Frank Sinatra and Etta James on the WREN.
We are a live radio station that is not part of some huge radio corporation. WREN is the only station that we operate. We operate WREN is run like an "old fashioned" radio station. WREN is non-commercial and is operated by a volunteer staff with DJs on the air from 6 AM to 11 PM. We do run a couple of minutes of what are called “underwriting announcements” per hour but no advertising. You’ll hear a lot of music on 97.9 WREN!

John Henry's R&B Show - Three hours of R&B, Soul and Motown every Sunday night from 9 to 10 PM here on "The WREN". John has an extensive knowledge of this genre so you'll hear a whole lot of the music that you know well plus some cool songs that may be new to you!

The Sunday Morning Wake Up Call - Rick Moore interviews Charlottesville, Albemarle County, University of Virginia and other area personalities, politicians and movers and shakers every Sunday morning from 11 AM to 12 Noon.
