Description

THE NEXT GENERATION OF ARCADE SPACE SHOOTERS IS HERE
Redout: Space Assault puts you in control of a Super Orbital Recon Fighter during the 2395 Colonization of Mars: dive in the fastest, most epic and exciting arcade space battle you can experience on an Apple device. Outsmart, outmaneuver, overpower, outclass your opponents in lightning-fast, adrenaline-inducing single-player space combat.

You play as Leon Barret, ace fighter pilot of the Poseidon Security Forces. Here at Poseidon Corp., we are trying to pave the way for the colonization of Mars, as mankind is struggling for survival, split between a depleted hot Earth and a cold, claustrophobic Lunar colony. Your job is to maintain order by eradicating rebels and space pirates, facilitate our scientists' research while keeping them safe, and protect all our personnel from the numerous external threats.

Dive down into gigantic asteroid mining plants, shoot down Rebel drones and fighters, roll left and right avoiding enemy fire, unleash impossibly powerful missile volleys, but also race against stray pilots and space scavengers at breakneck speed for the sheer thrill of it.

By completing missions you will unlock Cards and Tokens to upgrade your fighter's Hull, Shields, Energy Weapons and Missiles until you are able to go up against massive Capital Ships and single-handedly shift the tide of the war.

In an interplanetary struggle where nobody is good or bad, you will experience Leon rising through the ranks, the meaning of “necessary evil”, the cost of integrity and ultimately, what it means to take a stand.

Chadro777,
Great game almost impossible
I’ve gotten pretty far as as far as people on here complain about frame rate on an iPhone XS or 11 pro I’m willing to bet they didn’t go into settings and unlock the frame rate. Other than being stuck on a race level that seems impossible to beat because the markers for the next turn are so difficult to follow and to see for that matter I’m quite bored. I mean give us a clear line to follow besides some stupid rings that disappear to no where sometimes and by the time you see them you’ve lost the race. Or make the race levels optional bonus levels in order to upgrade your spaceship maybe. Anyways I’ll gladly rate 5 stars if this is fixed. Thanks for reading.
Frampton01,
Frustrating Controls and Default Frame-rate Issues
The graphics on this game are spectacular, and it has obvious promise as a Star Fox-like space shooter that could be really fun if a couple of issues are resolved. Until you read the other reviews and know to unlock the frame-rate, the default setting makes the game play super jerky and jumpy. And since there is no way to access the options from the starting screen, only when you’re actually playing a level and hit pause, you’ve already had a bad experience before you can change the setting. It’s also annoying that you can’t steer the ship when transmissions are coming in from the other pilots on your team. It’s especially jarring on the first level when you’re just acclimating yourself to how to steer and suddenly you’ve been interrupted by multiple incoming transmissions. The targeting and weapons system is also a bit frustrating since you don’t actually fire your standard weapon manually. You just have to line up an enemy in your crosshairs and the weapons fire on their own. This makes it feel a bit like steering and dodging is all there is, which doesn’t make the gameplay feel nearly as engaging as it could if you had a bit more control. Hopefully some or all of these issues can be addressed in future updates. I’ll hold onto the game on my Phone for now and try again later to see if things improve. The graphics are beautiful! That’s for sure.
MurcielagoZhou,
Gorgeous graphics but poor control
This is a gorgeous space shooting game. The graphics is stunning, no matter the structures and fleets in the background or the particle effects, all looks great.

The battle is intense which is really good. But it’s too intense for the new player in the level one. The bullets on the screen are overwhelming. As a newbie, I have no idea how to dodge and fight back. Only after finishing the whole chapter one, I start to feel I can handle that.

The most common bullets which is the red one, is the hardest to dodge. As it come closer, it gets bigger, and it becomes so big that it will take about 1/3 of the screen which means, I have nowhere to dodge. With this setup, it will make fighting back harder. Having the more undefeated enemies on the screen, the more bullets they will generates. It ended up with a pretty challenging game.

The game provides variety of modes associated with the story line. It prevents the repetitiveness caused by space shooting all the time from happening.

The control is the least satisfying feature of the game. The controller feels too slippery and sensitive. It makes the space battle gets harder. Even during the free fly, especially inside the narrow tunnels of meteorites. The space ship will hit the wall quite easily.
hisjr,
Too many glitches and GUI problems
Missile firings and alerts from the enemies aren’t obvious and the marker on the screen is too small. The race course isn’t defined and you have to be near perfect to win. The expected direction of travel isn’t marked and you’re steered into obstacles during a fight, and sometime stuck. There aren’t instructions or help to understand the weapons and their general use. You sometimes skip through dialogue using a controller because of the boost button. The play area should be defined in areas where you have to explore, my ship has been destroyed for being out of the play area.

Chapter 7-3 is nearly impossible. You have to slow down to get thru boost portals inside sliding gates that crush you and you lose every race. My craft is upgraded to level 10 and the enemy cannons still destroy me in this race.

I hope an update will come soon.
CGudinsky,
Pretty good game but ridiculously hard races
This could be a great game if it weren’t for the stupidly hard race levels that are mandatory to play but almost impossible to beat, especially on IOS touch controls! The idea of sliding one’s finger around to control impossibly tight turns and really tiny spaces to fly through at maximum speed is just dumb. It makes the game unplayable which is a shame since the game is really great otherwise. Make the races skippable and I’d rate this 5 stars. Otherwise it’s exciting, it’s easy to level up and the graphics and soundtrack are really good.
Ericadia,
Poor Apple TV performance; just not fun.
I was excited to give this one a shot on my AppleTV and Xbox controller, I figured this was the perfect game for that combo. I was mistaken. This runs badly on my 4th generation AppleTV, constantly jittering and freezing, and sometimes just crashing during loading screens. But beyond that, its just not very fun. The joy of a space rail-shooter like this is blasting away at hordes of enemies, but the only weapon you get is an extremely slow firing, slow hitting missile launcher that takes no skill to aim, and is deeply unsatisfying when it does make kills (it’s hard to tell if it actually did anything because by the time it hits, the enemies are already half-way off of your screen). And there are constant dialogue pop-ups that cover the entire screen and forcefully steal your attention for several seconds.
Sonwell,
Awesome Graphics!
I really enjoyed this game...umm well the small part I was able to play about 30 times in a row until I gave up. Apparently the cargo ship I was tasked to take down was in reality a super mega battleship with impenetrable armor plating, 5 high powered rip your shields off plasma cannons and engines that could a achieve some sort of pseudo warp speed that would reach haha you can’t catch me distance. Wait, sneaky technology...damaged cargo ship with power diversion to the engines means plasma cannons become ultra mega epic BFG one shot ship killers! Yes, these smugglers chose their stolen cargo errr battleship wisely. Too much stress for a game on my phone lol. Still, the graphics and fun of flying around in space kept me coming back until the 30th try when I put down my phone and began to cry.
Destroyer531,
Great Apple Arcade game 🕹
Overall this game is great graphics, controls and the story is great but my only concern is chapter 5 level 5 is impossible spoiler warning Makeaba tries to hunt you down and you free roam in this level which is cool except for the fact you can’t lock on to her ship and shoot at it no matter what after the part where you shoot all the drones down and it’s just you and her. I don’t know if I’m missing something but it is really frustrating but probably a bug so I’m not too worried thanks for the one of the few great Apple Arcade games.👍
ajjskjdkokdhdw,
Looks gooooood but debatably fun.
The game looks great and I appreciate the person who made the ships. But there are some pretty bad things. Like wen I finish the second level of the second chapter because wen the level ends it just doesn’t and it keeps going. Also that level is vary hard because twice three fighters come out at once and kill you. Also I don’t like how you can only change weapons wen you die of wen you start a level. And I literally just found out how to fire the ships cannons wen I read a review. But again I thank the person who made the ships.
Mltytskr,
Combat isn’t Enjoyable
I’m adding 2 stars that I took off for the frame rate. I read another review that said there is an option in settings to unlock the frame rate. The voice acting is mediocre, but I'll take that over the Arcade games with no text or voice. The screenshots looked beautiful, and the game seems interesting, but the gameplay is boring. Let me aim, target and shoot. I can be anywhere on the screen, hold the missile button, lock on to 3 ships, and fire while moving my ship anywhere. It feels like there is absolutely no skill required to pilot the ship and target enemies.
