Description
Retro Tanks Battle is a 3D shooter tank battle game. Your tank's mission is to destroy as many opponent tanks as possible without loosing all the your lives.
Navigate through the maze of randomly generated marble blocks and use these to your advantage for cover against enemy tank fire. Low height blocks allow firing over the top of them but be careful though. Enemy tank bullets can also pass over the top!
Explore the colourful 3D world around you and be mindful of each enemy tank location by observing their position in the game radar.
The device display flashes red to denote that one of the enemy tank shots has hit the player resulting in a loss of one life.
There are 4 difficulty levels ranging from 'Easy' at the least difficult setting to 'Extreme' which presents a huge challenge just to stay in the game.
Enter your name into the hall of fame, should you beat the high score of the game level category.
Scoring is based on the difficulty of the tank hit, where a long distance hit scores the highest value. Two different opponent tank types with very different characteristics also dictate the level of scoring.
The game level can be chosen from within "Game Settings" by moving a "Difficulty Level" slider to select the chosen game difficulty. Returning to the main game will automatically start a new game of the chosen level.
A practise level is also available where the player can hone their skill without worrying about loosing lives. The practise level also allows the number of opponent tanks to be set up to a maximum of 1000.
Other game settings include:
"Enable Block Slide" - when set, it allows the player to slip along the side of a scenery block rather than being obstructed by the block. A block obstruction that fully prevents movement causes the device display to flash black. This denotes that it is not possible to move in the direction that the player has chosen. An obstruction can be from an opponent tank or one or more scenery block obstacles.
Note that game scoring is reduced when this setting is active.
"Show Touch Templates" - show or hide the touch template. When shown, this assists with training the fingers by showing the touch areas and what they do.
"Switch Touch Control Layout" - choose the touch layout that best suites your playing style.
"Turn on Sound Effects" - when set, realistic digitised tanks sound effects are played.
"Show FPS and Game Mode" - if selected, shows the current frames per second drawing speed and the chosen game type. Most devices should provide sufficient processing performance to meet 60 FPS.
"Fast Touch Action Speed" - activate to double the speed of the touch events and cause faster movement around the map.
The game supports both Portrait mode and Landscape mode and this can be freely changed during game play.

Version 2 comes with some new and exciting improvements.

The game now includes enemy missiles which are able to fly over obstacles. Missiles will keep trying to kill the player until they are shot. However, they respawn and have increased numbers as per the game difficulty level.
Also included are lookout shelters that are mounted on stilts. Be careful, the lookouts have a cannon which will fire at the player when in range. They can however be permanently disabled by shooting each of the 4 stilts.
Retro Tanks 2 now includes a Wave Play mode. Here the player is up against a timer to shoot all the tanks contained within the wave. Each new wave increases the number of tanks but the time limit remains the same.
Version 2 now comes with same new interesting block shapes - see if you can spot them.
Version 2 also includes a new visual mode called Winter Mode. When this mode is active the landscape changes into Winter scene with lying and falling snow. There are different intensities of snow ranging from light through to medium and also including a heavy snow setting.
Retro Tanks Version 2 also comes with an exciting new dual player mode. This mode allows a player to play with a friend over WiFi. Two multiplayer modes of play are possible.
Cooperative play allows the two players to play as a team to shoot as many enemy tanks as possible. It is possible to achieve improved game progress where the two players can pair up and compete as a team against the enemy.
The other supported dual player mode is Deathmatch and the objective here is for each player to first find and then shoot the other player. The winner of the game is the player that has lives remaining.
When using WiFi multiplayer mode, one player must be configured as the server device and the other player the client device. Each player must type in the TCP/IP v4 address of the other player and then once configured on both devices, the server player must press the "connect" button to initiate the network connection. The client player must then also press the "connect" button but only after the server player.
