Description

This is a companion app for use with the Return to Dark Tower board game. Gather your warriors, complete epic quests, and assault the Tower to defeat evil once and for all. The app controls the mechanical Tower via wireless connection, runs the virtual battle system, and manages quests and events. (This is not a standalone game.)

Minor sound, text, backer names and graphics updates.
Graphics and audio performance pass.
1.2.2
2022-01-14
A few bug fixes and some polish
Game would lock up when leaving one of Yana's Main Goal dungeons in a restored game (if the dungeon was not completed).
Tomas's second and third dungeons would not spawn in restored games.
If the tower disconnected from the app in a restored game the app could cause the tower to recalibrate.
Back button on the adversary spawn screen when Miras's, Tomas's or Yana's main goal was completed. If pressed, the Adversary did not spawn.
Native crashes on devices connected to the Vulcan graphics API. (Vulcan has been disabled for now.)
Dropping a skull into the Tower while exploring a dungeon caused the app to exit the dungeon, causing other errors. (Skull drop sensor now disabled on the Choose Dungeon and Explore Dungeon screens.)
Foes that were max level (savage) and had all their tokens on the board could act twice in the same turn.
A few Adversary images on the Quest screen were incorrectly positioned on 4:3 and 5:4 aspect ratio devices.
Balance changes.
The battery % indicator readings fluctuate too much, giving inaccurate information. (Disabled for now. Users will get a warning when batteries are critically low.)
Updated backer name list
Minor visual updates for readability and clarity."

SpontaneousCode,
One of the Best Coop Board Games
Return to Dark Tower is one of the best cooperative board games my husband and I have played. We have already played it 4 times with the base game and 3 times with the alliances expansion.

The way the foes and main goals mix to make a different experience and how the app changes based on your enemies and allies that are active is really cool. And the battling system is something new and gives you a lot of choices (vs a system where you just roll and see what happens).

Hope to see additional content out for it in the future as there is a lot you could mix in without bloating the game!
ToyguyVT,
Needs some tension
I love the game and am happy to have backed it. That said, the game is too easy. It lacks any degree of tension or dread. You can generally ignore most foes throughout the game with little effect. The overwhelming numbers of advantages that can be gained renders even the adversary battle simple to win. The ability to retreat, then return with previously spent advantage intact, really destroys the dread that should be present when facing the adversary. It feels to me like the app needs more difficulty options and some rule adjustments. Another letdown is the end of game process - win or lose, the end of the game is fairly dull and unremarkable.

On the plus side, the app has been solid for me, with no crashing or troubles noted.

Lots of fun
Love this app and game. Whole family sat down earlier this evening and we had a blast. Very interactive and the functions were flawless. Would like to see more effects and sounds in the future.

Best Boardgame App Ever
This app is so well put together and polished. I’m impressed with the ease of connection with the tower, and how easy it makes the gameplay. Couldn’t be more happy with the game in general as well. So much replay ability.
Astra10s,
Great game
Our family really likes this game. The tower and the app have worked great for us! So much variety with the different opponents and quests. Highly recommend!

STRONG 4.5 stars!!!
This game was really fun! The learning curve is steep in the beginning but once you have it down it’s really fun.

Amazing Game 11/10
This review is more for the game than the app, although both are excellent.
mrlincoln,

Vodkanokers,
Awesome game
I remember playing the original game way back when. My friends and I played it a ton and really loved it. Fast forward to today and restoration games updated version and you find a game that is better in every way.

If you think of the app and the tower together as a single unit, they take a board game and elevate it into a totally immersive experience.

The game has numerous ultimate foes and monsters that switch game to game. There are different end goals each game. The replayability of this game is quite high. The company plans on keeping the app updated and fresh. At a time in the future if they no longer can keep it updated they plan to release the source code.

This is a game that you will come back to again and again. This might be Restoration Games best game yet. 10/10
