Rise & Shine allows your iPhone wake you up in a more natural manner.
Maybe you are affected by SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and want the benefits of waking up to a slowly fading light source.
Or maybe you don’t like waking up with a jolt to the sound of your alarm every morning!
Rise & Shine also has all the usual functions of a normal alarm clock and more:
Light
Fade up light slowly to wake you in a more natural manner – can be set to fade up to 20 minutes before alarm
Flash light rapidly to wake you without the need for a loud alarm
Photo
Choose from your photo library and wake up to the image of a loved one!
Sound
Choose from 10 built in sounds or create a playlist from your iPod music to wake up to.

Features a large LCD clock display with details of the next alarm - just touch the screen to see what it happening now and what will happen next.

As requested by users the backlight can now be disabled!
This will both save battery power and also stop the slight glow from the phone when the alarm is running.
If you exit (press the home button) while the alarm is still running and backlight is disabled you will need to press your power button to restore the usual brightness setting. This mode can be disabled in the General menu.

Does just what it needs to do
I agree with the other reviewers that the clock is too bright at night. I just turn my phone upside down which doesn't allow me to enjoy the wake up with light feature. However, I do enjoy the gently fading music and the peaceful tones. Its a nice way to wake up. It's a simple app that does what it claims to do.

I hate the new upgrade :(
Everything was changed and I hate it. I liked it just the way it was and I am frustrated that it was upgraded without my choosing. Every setting is different and more complicated, if I keep this app I would need to get used to a new sound (don't like the new wind chime sound), take extra steps to set/turn on the alarm, adjust to different lighting/fade in, and lastly, the "snooze" and "cancel" buttons used to be different colors and farther apart-- now they are written smaller, are the same color and are closer together--making it easier to confuse the two when half asleep/just waking up.
Very disappointed. I used to love this app and told others to try it. Now I'm thinking of deleting it :(

Failed to Wake Me Up
This app sounded like what I was looking for, but then I woke up an hour after my set alarm...no light came on, no sound.
Not sure what else I need to configure, but this didn’t work like I thought it would or it says it would. Maybe you need to keep your phone unlocked and on for it to work, but who does that? My phone locks after a couple of seconds...

There’s no fade up option - your flashlight wakes you up. What!?
Nothing calming about it - your flashlight blaring wakes you up. Why is that’s good thing?! There’s No fade UP option on the lite version. Not buying the other version to test it either. Disappointed.

Very Content
Works great for me. Most mornings, it will wake me up about 5 minutes before I am scheduled to, but in a very gradual and easy way. On mornings when I am not facing in the direction of my phone, the option to use the gentle sounds of birds chirping in the distance works just as well. Can't imagine having to go back to an alarm clock. I only wish it would run in the background so that my screen could go completely dark.

Functional but limited
This app does what it claims but it would be greatly improved by being able to run in background and by being able to set multiple alarms. Nevertheless, it's a reliable little app that I use on occasion. Especially like the fade-in feature.

Wish it was dark
I love the idea of this but the background light stays on giving off a lot of light in my bed room, makes it hard to fall asleep. I wish there was a way to turn the back ground light off, you can dim it but it's still way to bright. I want to know if I buy the full app would I be able to turn off the back ground light? And if I do will the light wake up function still work? Would give it Five stars if I could tun the back ground light off can't sleep with it on!

Lose the digital clock
Needs improvement. The digital clock adds light to what should be a dark bedroom. At very least should be small and red. If it could turn on from a locked status saving the battery and automatically ramp up the brightness, I would pay money for it. Right now you're wasting time downloading it.
