This app is for setting up and controlling a RIVA Concert speaker. It consists of a wizard that is supposed to walk your device through setup on your network, connection to Amazon, and to control the speaker’s tone, since there are no physical controls.
The first function - setup - is frustrating and unhelpful. If any aspect of setup doesn’t go as expected, no troubleshooting or even feedback is presented. The only “help” is to tell you to download this very same app! Good luck if you are not geeky and can work out the issues yourself.
The second function, connecting to Amazon, is fine.
The third function - controlling your speaker settings - gets a minus rating. The app may tell you that you have no devices and want you to set one up, when it’s clearly on your network and responding to voice commands. The menu buttons are confusing - there is no “home” button, only “Discovery”. The “Tutorials” for setup are a joke. Same goes for the “Settings “.
But most frustrating is lack of control over the speaker’s tone. I’m not expecting a virtual sound board or detailed equalizer, but even simple bass and treble control is all but non existent. The app theoretically gives you a 5db boost and -5db decrease in bass and treble. However the effect is barely discernible. If a track or station has poorly balanced signal, be prepared to deal with muddiness and complaints from neighbors if you live in an apartment or condo. And if you are buying small speakers such as this, it is likely.
