Description
RunRA is a mobile application designed with patients for patients. The patients who assisted in the app development, together, had more than 50 years of experience living with rheumatoid arthritis. This app enables personalized tracking of disease activity, goal setting, and notetaking that support development of strategies for dealing with of symptom and side effects of rheumatoid arthritis. The app tracks disease activity using a standard measure widely accepted by rheumatologists and other providers– RAPID-3. The RAPID-3 provides a score from 0 to 10 based on responses to a set of 12 questions. Patients can record their disease activity daily or more frequently to show the course over any period of time: days, weeks, months or years, as the information can be displayed graphically for the length of time the app user selects. Users can enter and prioritize their personalized goals for living with their disease to aide in communication with the rheumatologist or other provider about a treatment plan that will allow those goals to be achieved. Additionally, symptom and side effect priorities can be recorded to assist with their provider discussions as to a treatment plan that allows achieving treatment goals while controlling high priority symptoms and minimizing high priority side effects. The user also can enter notes to assist in recalling problematic symptoms and side-effects and that can be viewed alongside points in the disease trajectory. This allows app users to understand holistically, and to concisely convey to their provider, how the disease is affecting daily living and goal attainment.
