No way to turn music off?
I’m enjoying this with my little one at the moment. So far very impressed, but there seems to be no way to turn the music off? Thankfully for once it’s one of the few app like this so far that seems to have actually hired someone professional for their audio. The music is thankfully unobtrusive. But still, would be nice to be able to turn it off for when I want to turn music on in the same room.

A few bugs, and definitely a bit pricey
I’ll start by saying that we love sago mini! We subscribe to world and school already, as well as the sago mini box. That being said, paying another $60 annual subscription is a bit much, and I wish there was a cheaper add on so I’m not paying hundreds of dollars for apps. They are bright and musical and engaging, but that’s just not realistic for a lot of families. We did like the first words that we tried without the subscription, but got a lot of “oops something went wrong” error messages. The app just launched so I’m sure there are kinks to work out. Definitely not an app we would use without a subscription, and that’s simply not in the budget at the moment, but maybe down the road it’s something we can revisit.

I would highly recommend Sago Mini First Words to the parents of toddlers. It's a wonderful learning aid for kids who struggle with speech, and is easy to use for parents who have no previous experience. The interface is simple and intuitive, which was helpful when trying to focus on coaching my son through his pronunciation of new words. I think the price point is fair as well

Amazing speech resource
For the cost of a single speech therapy session ($60) you get a year’s subscription. My child has been able to decide to work on her words through play and the use of kids doing the various words is tremendously beneficial.
The content added always keeps her interested. Even works for her and she is over 6 years old.

I want to love this app! But...
This app is sadly buggy. It's heartbreaking to see my son excited to use the app and then it refuses to work for one reason or another. I love the look and the approach, but the app has a couple of major issues:
1. It randomly keeps prompting to allow access to the camera/microphone, takes me to settings where it shows the app already has those permissions enabled.
2. The second issue is that randomly the sound will cut out on the children speaking, all other sounds work but the child repeating words will be completely mute and then ask my son to repeat it, how is he supposed to repeat what he cannot hear?
I updated my iPad to see if that helped, but it's still like this. Pretty please fix this, I want to subscribe but it would be pointless to pay for an app that doesn't work :(

Autism Mom Approved!
My 4 year old who is non verbal autistic absolutely LOVES Sago Mini! We started off with Sago Mini World, then Sago Mini School, he watches Sago Mini Friends on Apple TV, and we got offered this AMAZING deal for First Words! We thank Sago Mini for showing their support and acceptance to the Autism community!!!! My son adores this app and he’s starting to try and repeat what his favorite characters say! THANK YOU SAGO MINI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Voice recognition
My son absolutely enjoys this app, however I’ve noticed the voice capture is a little off. If I put it in “low” setting, it almost never captures my sons voice, but if I raise it just 1 level up, it’s too sensitive and captures everything. Even when he says the word that’s not shown, it still passes what he says as correct. As much as I want to give it a solid rating, it’s going to be a 3 until the voice recognition does a better job.

I have a three year old daughter who likes to play with our phone. As you can imagine, she is always on it. So I downloaded this app for her and she has been playing with it non-stop! we added to our son's routine he loves playing with the characters!! he learns new words every day and I can leave him with the tablet and do my thing and he learns new words and phrases. it's really easy to use for him and he is engaged the whole time. highly recommend it to parents
