*Classic - the traditional method of sampling where the sound will speed up and slow down as you go higher or lower than the recorded pitch.
*Granular - Wizdom Music's own take on a granular synthesis engine. Adjust grain size and speed while the entire range of notes maintain the same speed.
*Modern - explore new sampling possibilities using Dirac technology to allow formants and time to be adjusted automatically over a device-selected range.

Still one of the best sample apps
After many years still a most capable and enjoyable app. Wish we saw more updates or v2. Would be nice to have 2 Osc and an envelope filter would really beef up this app. Please please update or release a newer build would pay again for it. Still waiting. This is a very basic app in it fullest which makes it what it is. Simple straight forward and works quite nicely. Let's start a beta testing for version 2 you know simple is always the best so let's make it happen

An awesome app and Sampling delight! I created some of my very favorite ZT3A Synth presets on it and Wow! Amazing the amount of tweaking that can be done. I love the UI but I really wish I could load several instances of SW!

Could be better
For Aliasing and please stop putting your face or look alikes all over your apps. It is rather tacky and egocentric.
This lacks so many things a real sample app needs. Its ok for putting in words and playing wacky sounds.

I have been looking for a sampler use in a creative way. This is it. I like to find the hidden sound within a sound and this app excels in taking a found sound to an unexpected place. It is intuitive to use and sounds really good.
The three sample playback types give you a lot of options. The regular option of changing pitch slower or faster playback is the one we are most familiar with. It works as you would expect. The granular option is great for taking a sound into nasty sounding territory. My favorite is the option called Modern. It preserves a great deal of the character of a sound for much more of the full keyboard range without turning it into a "chipmunk" sound.
There are options for control volume with the position of your fingers on the keys. It makes for some expressive playing.
The only complaints that I have is that the name sounds like it's some sort of urine testing kit and the wizard cartoon that looms up from the background is distracting while in use. There is no end to how annoying that cartoon becomes and I think it undermines the seriousness of this wonderful, creative app. I really wish there was a way to turn off this last feature.

Not my EPS!
Kidding. But I had the ensoniq eps back when you had hair. I always looked up to Dream Theatre because my friend Scott played me lots of Tony Macalpine, Malmstein, Dream Theatre and ZAPPA. He played drums, I keys. Best time of my life 80's Las Vegas. Sample Wiz is a great simple to use FRICKEN DOWNRIGHT MARVEL of musical wants and little to no side crap. I love it and like I said - EPS, had S750 with disks and monitor! s550 (wow talk about time investment) the Akai's and the EMU's were great because the gnarly filters and effects that made its mark profoundly on the slamming Drum and Bass scene (Ed Rush and Optical, Bad Company UK, Tech Itch, Cause 4 Concern, Konflict, Acen, Total Science, etc.) that over the top filtering I have yet to hear equal in a plug in or app (even crud) but thank you for the great versatile portable sampler - it is EXACTLY what I was looking for!

Not for me
Looking for something like this but I don't think this is the one. The lack of audiobus support is a big drawback. and the fact that it has not been updated in so long makes me feel like I may have bought into abandonware. I hope I am wrong. I sure am glad I found the setting to turn off the splash screen audio. Honestly, what a terrible idea. I was trying to figure out if I could use the app live but I had nightmares about having to relaunch it at a gig, forgetting, and having the cheesy "SAMPLEWIZ!" blare out over the PA. But that's exactly the kinda thing I am finding I don't like. The moving backgrounds, the ugly and distracting neon interface, a ton of useless waves that would need to be cleared out. It's more like a promotion for itself than a serious instrument. If it gets an update with an option for a cleaner interface, and audiobus support, then I will take a second look.

This app is a load of crap--NOT!
Sorry, just had to say that. I LOVELOVELOVE this app. Can't stop playing it and with it. Toooooo much fun!!! Even a human phrase can be tweaked into a great sound. Or, use the phrase or any sound as it naturally sounds.
One minor complaint and one major. It would be nice to be able to tweak the sounds more--than again, that's probable what the clipboard is for: haven't figured out how to transfer sounds to any of the listed apps--and I own all of them. Second, and more importantly, Jordan you make too many neat and tempting apps and I can't afford them all! Guess that's just how it goes. (Though I keep thinking Gimme Gimme Gimme--I want want want.) Thank you Jordan for a really fun app, and Toto too--no, no, I mean Morphwiz.

Need I say more? This is yet another incredible app from Wisdom Music. What's so wonderful about the efforts Jordan, Kevin and team have put into this is that, like other apps Jordan has either made or sponsored, the fundamental control and performance ideas are truly revolutionary uses of the multi-touch interface.
While replications of traditional synthesizers, DAWs and sequencers on iPad/iPhone are interesting, they really don't leverage the unique possibilities of this kind of interface.
Morphwiz, and now Samplewiz, like Hexatone, do. In spades!
But not at all at the expense of lovely sound quality, either. The musical and sonic possibilities of Samplewiz simply go beyond what's possible anywhere else.
At a time when the big-corporation MI business seems to be getting increasingly conservative and unimaginative in their latest offerings, rehashing tech and interfaces they've been purveying for almost 20 years.... wow. What a refreshing and stunning inspiration this is!
