I am a Junior studying for the SAT. I have been playing with this app for the past hour or so and I am about a fourth of the way through the first set of words. I've also taken 2 Advil because staring at the screen reading complicated vocabulary words can give you a major headache.
This app definitely provides a good way to get all those lengthy vocab words memorized before the test or even just to broaden your vocabulary in general. I don't recommend this app if you aren't serious about studying. It's not a fun app by any means. It's very repetitive and dull. However, in the end it gets the job done!

Paid for the app and with this update they charged me.
I paid for this app already, but now with this update they charge you again. Before you could use the paid app without having to make a Brainscape account (with hundreds of accounts with other things, I would rather not make another if I don't have to; the account is used to sync your vocab progress in the app with their website). Now when you update, the app comes "locked" and in order to unlock the app (although you bought it already) and "prove" you already purchased it, they want you to log-in to your Brainscape account. However, if you never made an account before (because you never had to), you cannot unlock the app. You are then forced to repurchase the app to unlock it. Either Brainscape is dishonest or there is a bug in their update.

Even the free apps have a quiz mode and speak the word and definition. This app does neither.
Its only redeeming quality is that it uses spaced-recall techniques, although the spacing between words seems too short.
Additionally, it has less than 1000 words. Hopefully, the developer will improve this app. In the mean time, save your $4.99 and support one of the developers of the free apps by using their apps, which are at the time of this review vastly superior.

Can you please add a feature where you can press a button and hear the pronunciation if the word. I don't care if its a crappy robot saying it just please add the option. You don't know how much I would appreciate it. But rather than that nuance this application is simply ingenious

improve your vocabulary!
A great way to really improve your vocabulary....this generation is losing something, and that something is the ability to convey them-self properly. Learn some words and stop always with the 'L33t speak d00ds.' Learn some tried and true REAL WORDS in an effective manner that helps you remember it when your all done studying it!

very helpful
Although this app doesn't have as many words as I would like, it really helps me to study; I think of myself as a poor studier, but with this app I have found myself to improve more efficiently and retain more than if I used normal flash cards or even played a dumb game that distracts from real studying.

AWESOME APP.
I highly recomend this app its very useful for expanding your vocabulary.I have used other vocabulary apps but with no success, but this one I feel that words are actually sink in. Their website lets you create your on custom set of words I just wish you could sync the custom sets with the app. Also and iPad version wouldn't hurt.

Been looking for something like this for a very long time, not just for SAT vocabulary. Wish you could add your own flashcards though. I emailed the developer and they said this should be coming soon. Hurry up. Awesome app.

So intuitive
I got up and running in like 5 seconds, and since then I've spent like 20 hours in this app. It's perfect. I've never found an app with better progress tracking.

Nice app
The spaced-repetition algorithm seems effective. I'm satisfied. I can't say whether or not the set of words in this particular vocabulary deck are really targeted at SAT tests, but I think a thorough effort combined with this vocab set will improve anyone's SAT results.
