1.1.0
2017-03-28
This release brings a large number of new features and updates the document format for compatibility with the macOS version of ScaleMaster. Foremost the app now works in two distinct modes - reference and exercise modes. These modes affect playback and music notation. Every ScaleMaster document can now be displayed in either of these two modes. The centrally located view button in the main toolbar allows switching back and forth.
Another prominent change from previous versions is the new exercise generation tool which also gets its own icon in the toolbar. With this tool patterned scale exercises can be generated. This is also where new recordings are now started.
The left-hand mode for string instruments like guitar, banjo or bass has been changed to a vertical reflection starting in ScaleMaster Pro 1.1.0. This view reflects the players view of the instrument much more closely and supports positioning by dragging or positions menu. Also new for string instruments is the string thickness indication which has been added to make for better visual likeness to the actual neck. The piano instrument adds piano dots to highlight current scale tones.
The notation view in ScaleMaster now features two additional display modes in addition to the new continuous exercise display. It can now display MIDI values and also remove all auxiliary information.
Finally there are also 2 new items in Settings. The Count-In switch has been moved to settings and is no longer available on the center toolbar on iPhones, but still remains there on iPads. The second new item is called Auto Follow. This setting can be used to allow the instrument view to scroll to the currently played note.
