languagelearningstar,
A Very Promising Start
I’m very happy this app exists! I do know that there is a huge gap in the language learning community for African languages to fall through (i.e. other apps prioritizing languages that already have a bunch of resources). And so far, I feel this app will help bridge that gap. It’s easy to use. Pleasing to the eyes. So far I haven’t run across any bugs. I’m not African myself so I’m not the best to judge the accuracy with the pronunciation, but like with anything there is room for improvement and I’m excited to see what this app can grow into. I’ve already shared about the app on my socials in hopes that more people will join and help be apart of any improvements that can be made. And just in hopes that more people take a serious look at African languages and how rich they are. I’m excited to keep using and improving my knowledge of the languages and culture of Africa! :)
Ellahuihg,
Good idea, still need or improvement
I think this is a very good idea. However, for the yoruba language, what the translator is saying out loud is not the same when it is spelled out for some words and phrases. I am not sure if this has to do with the translator translating the yoruba with a more conversational version of yoruba than the grammatically correct one, but you end up linking the spoken translation to the written translation and those do not match up. I would also like to redo some lessons, and I don’t have an option to do that. Other than that great job!
NonPublished,
Mandarin pronunciation is horrible!
First, I’ll say that I haven’t checked more than Mandarin and Swahili, and only a little bit of either. Swahili pronunciation seems ok, but not perfect. Mandarin pronunciation on the other hand, is absolutely horrible. The sort of horrible that made me wonder if they were actually trying to say alternate words for the words that I knew were correct. Additionally, the very first sentence was wrong, because no native Mandarin speaker ever says the equivalent of “Hello. How are you?”, since the words for “hello” and “how are you” are the same in Mandarin, with one small addition at the end. If you learned their horrible pronunciation and combined that with their wrong wording, there is no way that you would ever be understood. Additionally, no Chinese language appears to be supported or even mentioned on the developer’s very brief website. For these reasons, I’m not going to take the chance of learning the wrong thing, by using this app, for any language.
ChiiChii💦,
Amazing!
I have been wishing for Duolingo to release Igbo for the longest and they act like they don’t have the resources, yet this app focuses on a catalog of popular African languages. I’m so excited that I can finally learn my native language, Igbo.

I think this app is fairly new so I look forward to an expansion of topics and vocabulary, as well as learning writing and grammar. Other than the limited vocabulary, another improvement should be that all art next to the topics should be representative of what we will learn instead of reusing them.
Daphne Appiah,
This app is amazing!! But there are a few things I would recommend
I love this app! I have been wanting to learn twi for a while to speak it with my family. And I have learned a lot from my family. But what im saying is that in the lessons my answers would be correct but it would come up as incorrect. But them i would resubmit the same work and then I would get it right.
CHLOE😀😀😀,
honestly amazing
I’m mixed so I’m African American and Irish. I have always wanted to learn about Africa and Swahili, so when I looked up some African languages learning apps there wasn’t a lot of them…
But this one is definitely a game changer and it’s been only 2 days
and I have 4 page in my notebook studying about Swahili. Plus it’s so easy and very promising and I hope whoever uses this app is successful ❤️
Bezzy Sisay,
It need a little help
I was so glad when I found an app that had my language Amharic, and when I started everything was pretty good. Then I began hearing some words that did not match the spelling or from my background knowledge on this language I had the words did not match. But overall I liked the app and the way it was built but please fix it.
Cold Fries,
Actually a Good language App
It’s so hard to find ANY language apps or programs with African languages and I can say this app has genuinely helped with my igbo. Very good app and very glad it’s not stuck behind a buck of payments to learn stuff but hopefully in the future they can add a speaking feature to work on people pronunciation other than that it’s awesome!
Priscilla W.,
Amazing!
I over love this app! It breaks down the language into easy baby steps so that you can learn effectively at any age! I love the repeated pronunciations, pictures, and seeing how to spell the words so that I can learn to read/write the language as well. I’m currently learning Yoruba! 🤩 I also love the option for daily reminders and the quizzes!!! A+++
ggggg987,
Ads are annoying
This app shows a lot of promise but the ad set up is insane. There are ads between every lesson, which is fine, but then you have to stare at a pop up prompting you to pay for ad free for one month for a full 45 seconds - between EVERY LESSON. please cut that out. Make it a pop up every 5 lessons and don’t make it a 45 second requirement. 5 seconds maybe. It’s the only reason I will stop using the app.
