The app ranks ahead of many gaming apps, which is impressive given that easily the most popular AR apps built on ARKit are dedicated to playing games instead of solving practical problems. In addition, Place is the most popular free non-gaming app. The app has been favorably reviewed (a 5 rating out of 5 based on 5 reviews), but we don’t know how much the app is actually used. According to Robert Williams of Mobile Marketer, “It’s hard to imagine that ShiftyStax will maintain its No. 2 position among free AR apps, if trends among other app categories are any guide. ShiftyStax’s strong showing in the App Store is mostly an indication of the comparably small number of apps that have included AR features.” Even still, being the second most popular free app using ARKit says something, and creating a favorable impression with an influential company such as Apple is good for the developers of ShiftyStax

I’ll be honest, going into this game I was skeptical. A game with only a handful of reviews developed by high schoolers? Upon opening the game my skepticism was not erased, as the title screen seemed amateur at best. Quickly though, my doubts were erased as the sleek and fun gameplay pulled me in. I won’t give any spoilers, but the story was incredible to say the least. The themes of loss, love, and courage were displayed perfectly, which was a surprise considering how simple the game is. Perhaps what shocked me the most was how other people interpreted the game. I asked a coworker what genre he believed it to be, and he thought it was an action game. Another, a first person shooter. The third, a puzzle game. Before playing this game, my view of the world was narrow to say the least, but after experiencing the perspectives of others, I can say that ShiftyStax has changed me forever.

I know I said I have no words, but I have many. I was having a rough time... I lost my job at the factory, my wife left me, and I was diagnosed with dehydration. It was a dart time, but then I found this app. Can I just say, this is a life saver. I was living on a diet of cheese and chocolate chips, but once I bought this app, I immediately was give $100,000,000 by a strange man on the street and he said, “Todd, this is your second chance! Sponsored by Shift Stax™️.” I cried, but this time, it was out of joy. My wife came back, and I got to see my children again. As for the factory, it burned down and good riddance. In summary, if it wasn’t for this app, I would not be the man I am today, and I live by that 🥺.

I am really enjoying this game. The only thing I would change is that I wish there was a sound when you flipped the numbers. Sometimes I do it on accident when I’m moving the tiles and don’t realize until it’s too late. A sound effect would help. Great job!

Okay everyone listen up, Shifty Stax is an incredible game that I likely will spend the next 72 hours of my life playing. I will likely miss something highly important but now is irrelevant due to the existence of shifty stax. Thanks Shifty Stax for making my life worth living.

This app is so good that it made my parents love me again after I played it

Reminds me of the Tetris days of the 90s. Incredibly satisfying to earn the “clear board” option. Fun game.

This is the greatest game I have ever played! I especially love the level design super awesome! My favorite game ever hands down!

Animations could be smoother and controls are a little wack but other than that it’s a good base start
