A passionate skateboarder built ShredSpots in Southern California with one goal in mind: to help skaters find new skate spots and keep shredding. We took his idea and developed it further with a bigger team by redesigning the experience and adding more valuable features.
Our current features include but are not limited to:
• Finding skate spots around the world
• Filtering by spots or skateparks
• Sorting by 20 different obstacle types, including filtering by the number of stairs (5 set, 7 set, etc..)
• Viewing skatepark set-ups, bust risk, and additional spot info

Ever wondered what it feels like to look at the world through a “skater lens”? Probably not, unless it's already “on”
Growing up as a street skater nothing around me felt boring or ordinary. Every set of stairs, handrail, pipe, or TV stand at home would be a “skate spot” for my imagination. My “skater brain” would be constantly landing tricks on almost everything I would look at. And I was not the only one. In fact, millions of people around you went through the same “professional deformation” Ask any skater, your world would never look the same after taking that “red pill”
Did you know that level of excitement of extreme sports athletes landing a trick is higher than when practicing any other activity, such as traditional sports, computer games, or even a first kiss? To see that all you need to do is to look in our eyes after we land a successful trick…
When a skater's attention is caught by a skateable object (skate spot) her mind starts drawing lines of tricks that she or her imaginary avatars are landing on it. Curiosity hits the seeling when you understand that the spot was actually skated before you saw it. You can see scratches and paint on a handrail, marks of wheels on a wall, or a waxed ledge. But how can you actually find out what happened here? What’s the actual story behind those shred marks? Who is the hero that actually did land this sick 20-stair gap? How can you even wallride that high to leave that mark? Did the one who scratched that steep-a*s handrail even survive? Did anyone think of that trick here? And most importantly how can I be a part of this spot's legacy?
Being able to answer those is what led to me quitting a successful career as a Silicon Valley VC and starting what's now called the ShredSpots app. A social map of skate spots that became home to over 150k skaters in more than 100 countries. This project is about letting anyone look at the beauty of the urban world from the skater's angle, showing the hidden beauty of the city you live in, and being able to experience the most dangerous and stylish form of street art that only lasts a heart bit.

I live in miami where i can’t really find spots, but this app helped me find spots to skate which i had never had known of, even i personally added a couple of spots of my own. Thank you so much to the developers they have made my life so much easier. finding spots alone is hard because you have to skate up and down every street just to find one spot, but with this app, all the spots are already there for you.

Love the app, but wish they’d add one thing
This app is so useful and a really fun concept, it encourages you to go out and skate street but also to find street spots in your area to put on the app. The only thing that’s annoying is that when you submit a new spot, you have to manually scroll through a map to find the location. I think there should be a feature to put in an address so it’s easier to find. There’s been multiple spots that I didn’t submit because I couldn’t find them on the map and gave up, even though I had an address for them. If that feature was in the app it’d be 5 stars, but overall still great

Best app for any skateboarder
This app is amazing for finding more spots in your local town or exploring and finding new spots around the country/world. This is has help me several times trying to find spots in new city’s and I recommend it to anybody with an interest in street skating. The interface is also very easy to navigate and each spot entry is very helpful. 100% recommend this app to any skateboarder.

Excited to use
Just got the app and have just been scrolling through it but so far it seems dope. There isn’t a crazy amount of spots in my town right now just due to the facts that it isn't a big town, but i will definitely be using the app when i travel to big cities. Really excited to try out the app and post some spots of my own. Think this app is great for new skaters because of the filter and also anyone else. Filters are great for finding spots you want and that are at your level of difficulty.

The best skating app
Definitely the best spot finder out, love the feature where you can select the bust rate and how you can put the exact location and the obstacles that are at the spot. All my friends including myself use this app every weekend to go out and find new street spots to skate along with new skateparks, I will be continuing to use this app for a long time!

Best spots app imho but…
It’s definitely the best skate spots app out there that’s why it’s a 5 star, because I use it every time when I go to a new place to skate. But i am curious why all those skate spots apps are so lame? Can’t you make something that actually works really well? I am not leaving this app only because there simply nothing better ..

Overall Solid App
Smooth and intuitive interface, overall good for logging most spots.
There are a couple things I'd change:
- There should be a way to edit spots that you've marked.
- It should allow more than 3 pictures per spot as some spots have more than 3 things to skate.
- There should be a description box for you to describe the spot you're marking. That way you can describe which days are good to skate it, how to avoid getting kicked out, or anything else that people may want to know before going to the spot.
Other than that, its perfect for keeping a kore personal log of spots or finding simple straight forward ones. And if they add the features I mentioned, this would hands down be the best skate spot app out there.

good way to find shredding spots for you and your Homies
I came across this app on TikTok, and in my area there’s not too many spots that I know of so when I downloaded it, I found out a lot more spots, so I caught up all my Homies and we snagged some Hella clean clips, but this app has hardly any bugs it seems like this app is made with a passion.

best app for skaters out right now
ive been using this app for the past 3 days and have definitely enjoyed using it. This app has helped me get a better view of my city skating-wise. My only criticisms are that the UI is a little bit clunky and packed, also there should be like/save button for spots so you can revisit them. Overall amazing

So many bugs
Bugs and fake locations
You can’t moderate or report spots without crashing the app, tried many ways to have reporting work, such as re install. Fix the report bug, it’s discouraging me from using the app having to sift through 80% of spots just being memes in my area. Also a bug where you cant scroll the map until the logo goes away takes 10 seconds and also there’s no address lookup? Once these get fixed the all would be perfect. Great idea, bad moderation bugs and execution
