Get access to Sighthound Video remotely. Sighthound Video software has been trained to simulate the human brain’s recognition abilities. It doesn’t just detect motion like most other security software - it detects and tracks people. With this app you can view your cameras remotely, be alerted to people who have triggered rules you set, and search through clips of camera activity. You must have installed Sighthound Video on a computer connected to your IP cameras before using this app. Get the software at the Sighthound website if you haven’t already. You’ll soon see that the software’s ability to detect and differentiate humans from animals or other objects greatly reduces the number of false positives and unnecessary alerts sent to users, which can make even the most modern security cameras unusable.

Sighthound is the first video security software to work seamlessly on computers, iPads, and iPhones. After installing the software on your computer, it finds most cameras automatically, and you are using the desktop software in seconds. With the Sighthound Video iPhone app, users can benefit from the intelligence of Sighthound away from the home or office.

******* Main Features *******
1. Quick Setup: Installs in seconds and instantly finds your cameras

NBC representative,
Poor support and overpriced
Back in 2017, Sighthound was is a good choice for setting up your own IP camera security on a Mac. The AI-based image recognition is impressive. However after several years of inadequate software updates and poor support, i’ve abandoned it in favor of other similar apps like SecuritySpy, which offer similar features but is much less expensive and seems to be much better supported as a software product. Reliability is particularly important for IP cam software - I don’t think the Sighthound folks understand this - they are more interested in fancy AI vs reliably triggering and recording events without glitches or gaps.
Amigalander,
Well-intentioned abandonware
Nice design and idea that is full of bugs and not cared for at all by its developers.
Michael-99,
Awesome
I installed it on my iPhone and iPad and updated the server version to 7.0.12 on y Mac-mini. What a difference it made ! The speed is increased 10 fold and stability appears perfect so far.
idavidi,
App is crashing
The app is crashing on an iPhone XS with 13.6. I upgraded to 14.6 and the app is still crashing when I try to see the rules.
RZA_SF,
Breaking backward compatibility (v1.6) -- No live view, and video clip playback crashes app (v1.1)
Sighthound v1.6:

This version is requiring having version 4.0 of the Sighthound software, else you will have locked yourself out of using Sighthound if you upgrade your device. This is really bad, since iOS doesn't let you rollback to a prior version (backing up / restoring your device is the only way you use it).

If you don't have 4.0 yet (I don't, my Sighthound 2.5 is working fine and I do not want to take it offline). So anyone in this situation is out of luck.

Sighthound you really should be a bit more generous on backward compatibility. This is highly frustrating. Now no new devices will be able to be used as long as I have an older version of Sighthound.

Locking out existing customers is irresponsible. Come on, Sighthound, this isn't fair.

----

Sighthound v1.1:

After upgrading from 1.0.1 to 1.1, I can no longer view cameras live once I select one from the thumbnail view. Thumbnail view does work. Clicking on the camera just spins indefinitely and never connects.

Viewing any recorded clip crashes the app. Displays the loading clip message, and then poof!!!

All worked well for me in v1.0 and v1.0.1. Serious regression.

My server is Sighthound Pro Edition, v2.5.

I'm on iOS 6.1.4 with iPhone 5. I have an email into Sighthound support, hopefully they can resolve this issue promptly.
Jnweis,
Bugs need to be fixed...
I've been using Sighthound for about two years now. With the upgrade to iOS 10 and the Mac upgrading to Sierra, there are now a series of bugs that Sighthound is not admitting exist. The rules do not function the way they should when creating videos. The alerts do not alert on the iPhone app at all. Email alerting does work.

Their support is only by email and minimal at best. After 10+ emails going in a circular motion I quit following up with their support…

Hopefully Sighthound will correct the many bugs and return the service back to its former reliable condition.
Th3Rev1ew3r,
New design, same lackluster features.
The design of the old app wasn’t the issue, it was it’s lack of basic security camera app features. Now we get a superficial facelift that is still missing the features that users have been requesting for years. Why is the app limited to only playing back events that match rules? Why can’t I scrub my entire recorded timeline? Why is there a lack of Picture in Picture support when it has been available on the iPad since iOS 9? Why can’t videos or snapshot be saved to the camera roll? Why can’t I set the size of the windows in grid view? Why can’t I configure the resolution of the camera previews in grid view? So far the only 2 new features that I’v been able to find are support for dark mode, although you can’t manually override it, and support for split screen. The developers should be embarrassed by this release. Catch up or get left behind. I’m looking for other options.
PetrusPetra,
Good but...
One gripe I have with the SightHound iPhone App is that you can't disable/enable your custom rules from the iPhone,,, so if I create a rule to watch for people on my front door during my work hours and I decide to go home for lunch there is no way to disable the rule through your phone so you'll end up with an email/app alert on your phone. Hopefully they will fix this soon.

Also, sometimes the alert videos don't play at all.
ScubaJon,
Horrible product, DO NOT BUY!!!
Never works, cameras won’t stay connected!
When it does connect, blowing dust particles in the infrared set the camera off even though the software is supposed to be so good it detects only people in the area.
Shadows from curtains blowing from heat registers set it off, headlights in the yard set alarms off, reflections etc... what I’m getting at here is the software DOESN’T WORK!
and the latest update 3 weeks ago now, Sighthound acknowledges is bad and they’re supposedly working to fix it. But until they do, they’re software now DOESN’T DO ANY NOTIFICATIONS AT ALL!
What good is surveillance or home security cameras if the software doesn’t notify you!!???
Mizzac,
Good, Not Great
Seems to work good, but why does it take so long to load an individual camera? The multi-cam view loads very fast, then you tap a camera and it takes 10 seconds! Also I am unable to view live video outside my network, can't figure out the port settings. Unable to create new rules from the app, have to use the computer app (which is very limited)
Hope this has updates coming!
