Drawbacks of this dating site
I have had a six month subscription to silver singles for three months. I had high hopes to meet older singles. In these three months I would say 90% of the smiles I have got are from the many scammers that have profiles. Also if your thinking of joining elite singles, the two sites are mixed together so you will not necessarily be talking to quality singles. Also even though I limited my area to 50 miles from me, most of my matches are from much farther away than that, some out of state. I was having a nice conversation with a person for about two months and then he asked to meet me, when I said I would he asked me to contact him on What’s App! I told him that I don’t give out personal info until I see the whites of the eyes and he gave me some answer about scammers online and then deleted me. Most scammers I catch and delete after 1 or two messages, this one two months later. I have two stars because I did go out a few times with a very nice man, we were just not meant to be together. I’m talking to three others that don’t seem to be scammers but haven’t met them and probably won’t because they seem to just want to be online friends. I am a 56 year old highly quality female with a good profile and lots of pictures showing that I’m attractive. I should be meeting more people in my area, at least I think I should.

Elite Singles and Silver Singles same
Both of these sites use the same database of people. The only difference is that Silver Singles has people over 50. I accidentally got on both. They have me a refund on one site which was good. The other things that bother me are that about half the ‘matches’ I get are from men with no pictures on their profiles at all. Then I continuously get matches from men way outside the mileage boundary I have set. So I will like someone and then realize they live several hours away from me. Also I am not sure if this matches with no pictures are members of the site or just freebies. I personally don’t think these sites should allow anyone without a subscription to even have any sort of access to the profiles. I have also noticed quite a few fake profiles but I guess that happens on all the sites. At least on Bumble you have to verify who you are. SS needs a filter to exclude all matches that don’t have a picture and all matches on profiles that are very vaguely filled out. You should have as much information on your match as they do you. If 1/2 the profile is blank then I have no desire to match with them. Same with the ones with no picture.

Disappointing Site
This site is a major disappointment. And that's the polite version. I'm almost finished with a 6 month membership and will not renew. The app itself is bad- it eliminates a lot of information from profiles that is potentially important and is visible on the website. And sometimes they show completely different people on a given day. The parameters indicating age and distance revert to their preset choices every day- I'm not interested in cross-country matched or 25 year age differences. There are too many scammers- and I keep reporting messages from them (including the same scammers with the same messages) and they are unable to block them. Some of the men with whom I have exchanged messages are fine, and I have had dates with some nice men, but some are definitely questionable. They don't do anything to confirm identity. They don't bother to include the state(or country ) on profiles so you don't know if someone lives near you or not. The majority of people on here don't write anything personal, just check off options or write one word answers, which is not helpful. They combine their list of Silver Singles with Elite Singles, as they don't seem to have enough of either group. They do send a list of profiles every day- but most are recognizable reruns of prior days.

Sketchy at best
The app itself works fine. However the side is full of scammers and frauds. With usernames like text me and then a phone number written out. I’ve also had multiple messages from people saying I’ve had success here. And my friend saw you on the site but she doesn’t have access to the Internet. And then has given me an email address or phone number to contact this person. I received that message about 15 times. He’s also off-line service because i’ve had the experience where I’ve gone on the side of the app. And then I get seven or eight likes from people but I’ll have that text me name.
All that said I have had a couple of dates from real people off of this site. I had to do over again I did not pay the membership or be on the side at all.

Very poorly managed site
I’m a 73-year-old male, widowed twice in the last 11 years. I joined this site to find companionship as local as possible to my home. Every time I set the parameter at the minimum, 50 miles distance that I would be willing to consider, it gets changed to 500, as soon as I log out. The age preference that I used was 65 to 75 and they kept changing it to 50 and 75.
I received so many matches of women in their 40s or early 50s who didn’t care that I happen to be 25+ years older. I also received multiple matches of people from as much is 1000+ miles away to the lakes of Seattle Dallas Texas even in Anchorage Alaska. I live in Pennsylvania. Many of the same matches were from people that asked me to talk off side while they gave me their email or even in some cases the cell phone number. I found this very unprofessional that the site would even allow this. I’m now trying to end my subscription because it’s just a site that I cannot trust. I reported each of these instances as reckless involving the sites in ability to police this. I did it repeatedly and always got responses that they’re doing the best they can. Well not good enough.

If you want to meet a scammer…
I researched, and read that this was a very reliable and productive site. I signed up for the free trial and could do absolutely nothing, so I bought the subscription. I’ve had very few interactions with real people, but I’m contacted by at least 15 scammers a day. I tried to email Customer Service but you can only ask them questions about pre-chosen topics. If you put in any other question, your email will not send. The app is a weak version of the website. You can’t delete emails from the app and you can’t see all of a persons profile. You have to go to the website for that. I’m very disappointed, but don’t plan to spend my money on anything else until I had given this a little bit more of a chance.

I’ve had this app for about a week and I’ve had no less than a half a dozen emails that say roughly the same thing. They say their subscription is ending and they won’t be renewing and they say that “a friend of theirs” saw my picture when they were looking at the app together. So they ask me to email them directly.
Silver Singles needs to find a way to minimize this. There are applications with artificial intelligence that can help them weed these fraudsters out.
These applications can also point to the patterns and behaviors of a typical fraudster.
Silver Singles also does not have users “validate” their identity like other sites. I had a call with a person today that clearly was a fraud. Hard to understand accent but said he was American, grew up in NJ and went to college in the US. It’s was just not possible.

Save your money and time
95% of the messages I send result in the person not even looking at my profile. Much less writing back. And I never write anything other than nice, friendly things. Now, I may not be the best looking 63yo guy in the world, but I’m certainly worthy of greater than 5% or less of the woman at least clicking to look at my profile. Personally, I don’t think the women I reach out to are currently active. Just decoys. (Follow-up- I emailed Silver Singles. They told me they will keep someone on as available if the logged on within the last 8-weeks. That’s 2 months. That’s ridiculous.) Another thing, after the first month of my forced 3-month membership, most of the matches are women with no pics. Or from way past the minimum 50 mile range I set. Save your time and money.

Phone App Buggy & Site Not So Great
Initially I signed up through the app and it worked for all of two weeks. Now, when I try to use the app, it tells me I have been automatically logged out. I sent request to update my password, when I get the update link, it automatically logged me into the the site with no prompt to update my password. WTH?? I still can’t use the mobile app. Next issue is when you receive a notification via email that someone is interested in you, it doesn’t automatically show up in your profile who the individual is…?? In this digital age, this site and its features should be way more sophisticated. It’s like it assumes people over 50 are not technically savvy. The selection is not that great either. I don’t recommend this site.

Well I was going to sign up for this app and see what it was all about and I’m going to register and it is not user-friendly I feel in the gender we’re just mail I feel looking for a female then I put in my birthdate and it keeps switching back to June 1985 so then I put the right one in and I go to answer the questions marital status divorced but it won’t let me advance onto the next questions so I can’t even go out the questionnaire to see who is compatible with me I am not happy my friend recommended this to me because it’s a piece of crap app I’ve got I discovered such problems so early in before paying out any kind of money for a piece of crap app that is not user-friendly so I guess it’s a blessing in disguise and I will not be recommending the standing my friends
