The Sister Circle is designed to be a space for you to come together with other sisters from across the world to discuss the issues that matter to you the most and to learn skills and strategies that will help you thrive in your relationships with others, but also yourself.
As a natural extension of the conversations started on the Therapy for Black Girls podcast, in the Sister Circle we take deep dives into areas like setting healthy boundaries in relationships, advancing in the workplace, improving self-compassion, and financial literacy. A Wonderful Place for Black Women
I feel so fortunate to have found this community, especially during the last year where is has been hard to find support. This is truly a safe,respectful and fun space for black women to lift each other up. The monthly book club and workshops have been amazing and make me look forward to learning and hanging out with the ladies of this group. From day 1, everyone welcomes and encourages you to join the group and have fun! The events and workshops are always relevant and fresh and I walk away with tools and knowledge to help improve my day to day life.

Needs Improvement
I gave this app two stars because I feel that this app lacks exuberance and youthfulness. Among the total members, approximately 60%-70% of them are between the ages of 30 through 55. No offense to older women. I AM 21 years old! I WANT TO TALK TO YOUNG BLACK WOMEN WHO ARE MY AGE. I only saw 3 women who are between the ages of 18-22. I wanted to interact with one woman who said that they were looking for a friend who was 21 years old. However, she unsubscribed so I could not message her. She reasonably left because the MAJORITY of the women on this app are NOT 21 years old. Another prominent issue is that the facilitators don’t really assist with the organization and development of this app. They initiate random conversations that are NOT pertinent to mental health nor well-being. They posted a survey for the members to leave feedback and suggestions. I completed the survey and included this exact information that I am mentioning in this review. THE FACILITATORS NEVER LOOK AT IT. WHAT IS THE POINT OF CREATING A SURVEY IF THEY DON’T EVEN REVIEW IT???? I am not surprised if they don’t provide feedback to this review.

Appreciation for this MAGICAL space ❤️
I began listening to Dr. Joy’s podcast Therapy for Black Girls at the beginning of my masters program which also happened to be at the beginning of the pandemic. I took the step to invest in my mental health and join the “tribe” of sisters circle which I am VERY grateful I did. I love that there are other black women professionals and students and other women from all walks of life in there. The only social media downloaded on my phone!!!

Needs Major Improvements
The app has a good concept but low user engagement and minimal content. This, plus a confusing interface and minimal account settings, make it not worth a subscription. For instance, there is no clear way to delete the account. Wondering now if many of these accounts are even still active. The app has been around for a few years but hasn’t been invested in. It’s probably just a way for a few of the therapists to make additional income while not doing much. Recommend trying another avenue for community engagement that’s more cost effective or better invested in.

I enjoy meeting new people and thriving for greatness within myself with number loving, caring sisters behind me! This app is great even though we don’t know each other face to face it truly feels like an everlasting bond!

That’s what I feel when I’m in the sister circle. Love. And appreciated. Definitely a safe space to share what’s on your heart. No judgement. Just love. And we have fun there too. Game nights are great lol it’s for us!! Cultivated and curated for us and our needs in whatever moment we are all in collectively. Love

I’ve been a member since last summer & I have truly met some amazing women. The sister circle has been my shoulder to lean on in times in my life when I needed support the most. It has taken the place of all social media platforms for me.

A Space For Us
The Therapy For Black Girls entire foundation is built on accessible mental health care and support for Black Women. A podcast, a therapist directory, a blog and now an App! The TBG Community is like no other and this app is the place for judgment free Sisterhood to thrive. Bravo Dr. Joy , this is history made.

Charged Me After I Unsubcribed
App is ok. I felt overwhelmed by the amount of alerts and it just felt so invasive so I unsubscribed. Canceled the app. Lo and behold saw last night they still charged me after I had already unsubscribed. Not happy one bit.
