Produced on behalf of Mayo County Council, the Slievemore Heritage Trail app brings you on a journey through the lives of a once-thriving island community. Located in the shadow of Slievemore mountain on Achill Island, what is now known as the Deserted Village was once home to a cluster of related families. Life was tough, so each family depended on each other to survive, until the Great Famine of 1845 spelled the end of village life.
