"It’s one of those rare photography apps that creates effects that few others are capable of, and it does it easily and with better results."
— Marty Yawnick, Life In LoFi

-----------------------

How many times have you tried to capture artful images with your iPhone camera but were left wishing you had more features to work with? Slow Shutter Cam puts an end to mere snapshots and gives you some of the most powerful features of a DSLR camera. All this, in a package that fits in your pocket.

Slow Shutter Cam offers three capture modes to capture unique images:

MOTION BLUR: Equivalent to the shutter priority mode on a DSLR, the Motion Blur mode is perfect for creating ghost images, waterfall effects or suggesting movement in your photographs by adding a blur.

LIGHT TRAIL: The Light Trail mode allows you to 'paint' with light, show car light trails and fireworks or capture any other moving light in a unique way. Unlike shooting with a DSLR and being tied to specific rigid settings to obtain good results, the Light Trail mode takes care of the essentials, letting your creativity soar!

LOW LIGHT: In low light conditions, this capture mode allows the camera to accumulate every photon of light hitting the sensor. The longer the shutter speed, the more light it will accumulate. You can even fine-tune the result using the exposure compensation slider to achieve the exact effect you want!

Highlights:

• Unlimited Shutter Speed and manual ISO
• Option to resume capture
• Real time live preview - See the result in real time
• Innovative 'Freeze' and ‘Blur Strength’ controls
• Tap to adjust focus/exposure
• Time-lapse Intervalometer
• Apple Watch support and handy Self-Timer
• Full resolution support on every devices

With Slow Shutter Cam on your iPhone or iPod touch you get the features of a DSLR camera with the convenience of a device that you can drop in your pocket and take with you wherever you go. Download it now and put an end to mere snapshots!

Mark H-L,
Good but noisy night photos
Only used the Low Light capture mode. The controls are easy to use so I rarely needed to review the instructions. I like how the display shows the image live. Night photos are bright, showing stars fainter than the unaided eye can see. Photos show the brightest dark sky objects such as M31 even from the bright skies at home! Photos are noisy even with High Noise Reduction. Longer exposures are slightly less noisy. Use at least 8 sec to reduce noise; 30 sec has slightly less noise and no star trailing. I usually use the app when I put the iPhone in a Pocket Tripod, a plastic holder that folds up to fit in a wallet.
Bjdavis95,
It’s good, but low light isn’t. (11pro max)
First things first I am using the 11 pro max. I tried using this for low light and night sky photos both, and while the app itself isn’t too bad, it just doesn’t work right. The low light photos come out blurry, iso messes with the color of the environment if it’s too low, but if it’s too high then the photo is way to bright, and the noise reduction doesn’t seem to help. I understand real iso should be adjusted to the correct level but iso should also be as low as possible to reduce noise in the photo and not change colors. If this is remotely what you’re going for and have an iPhone 11 I wouldn’t even bother because the low light on these phones outplays this app with the quality it produces, even if it can’t get super bright.
PhotographerSteve,
Simple & powerful
Creativity doesn’t require complexity and complex to learn photographic tools.

This is a deceptively simple, powerful tool for every photographers tool bag. I appreciate the apps automatic options which allow for advancing to the next image without having to hit, delete and slow down my workflow.

This app adds a tremendously beneficial & Powerful, creative tool, which enables even beginner photographers to widen their creative repertoire without expensive lenses and complex post production techniques, time and efforts.

The old adage that a (well curated) picture is worth so much more than 1000 words is true. For those interested in seeing the potential of this app I have a website showcasing what can be done with only a camera phone & this app. (WOW) No postproduction Photoshop just the phone & your tool that slows down time allowing pocket photographers to unleash their creative photographer within- with ease. Enjoy your new creative tool!
LilBigBang,
An amazing creative tool
I’ve been using this app for years now — it’s my all-time favorite app (and I’m an app junkie). I never write reviews but this one deserves recognition - heck, I keep it on my tool bar. This app has loads of professional controls (I don’t profess to understand them all but they are a lot of fun to play with). It takes fantastic (and forgiving) selfies — set the self timer and intervalometer, stand in front and just be natural... talk, dance, be still, whatever. The creative possibilities of this app are endless.
BillyBob Jimbo,
Nice tool. Could use a few tweaks.
Love the app and use it a Fair amount as I love motion blur and light trails. Here the thing though...I really wish I could take several shots, and go back and edit them later. I miss out on some good action because I have to shoot, edit, save, and clear the image before I can take a second shot. Solving that would be awesome. Maybe it’s something they could put on a future release.

Or maybe that capability is there and I’m just too dumb to find it.

Would also be cool if it didn’t think I wanted to compost every shot. Could you make a setting that clears the shot after saving or something?
Its That End User Again,
THE ONLY WAY YO MAKE PHONE PHOTOGRAPHY A TRUE ART
Look, I did the photography thing. Manual camera. Developed my film. Etc, etc.

Back then, there were no digital SLR’s. In fact, digital cameras were just point and shoot devices, a novel new thing to hook up to your powermac G4. Sure there was photoshop but digital art was still generally viewed warily by the art community at large.

With manual cameras, you gotta painstakingly adjust every single thing, from the camera itself, to your own physical position, and take things you can’t control into consideration; ambient lighting, ugly backround objects, etc. In the end you can’t just edit the photo and erase this or that.

My point? I CAN NOW USE MY PHONE AND TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS AT NIGHT UTILIZING THE SAME SKILLS AS I DID WITH A MANUAL CAMERA. AND THEY ARE AMAZING.

Thank you slow shutter devs. You have truly made an impact on my life.
CellarDoor82,
This took great phone pictures in Asia!
Love this app. A few summers ago, I could either afford a fancy digital camera or a plane ticket to Taiwan from a neighboring country where I was working. I picked the latter, and armed myself with my iPhone 6 and this app. I got such amazing pictures! Love the slow shutter for water blur effects with a tripod, and how the night camera lights up my images. It remains one of my favorite trips, and this app helped me capture some of my favorite pictures.
Brooklyn Reborn,
Worth every coin.
Depending on how hardcore, you as an artist, in the field of computer art of any kind, souls have this app. With just the little it has, the amount of abilities you can find in those is fascinating. I know I have created some pieces that I couldn’t creat any other way. This is probably that, diamond in the rough, one needs to have within their Arsenal!

Thank you for the creation of this app.
Highly recommended!!
Big Bob 615,
Best for ICM and Light painting
Really pleased with this app. Like the way you see the results as they render, and the way you can pause, save interim file, and continue to layer effect. I have submitted several support questions and they have been responded to quickly. Only thing I would put on my wish list is the ability to save result as a RAW file.
Gogofrog0,
The best camera app on appstore
Out of all camera apps I've tried in iPhone, this might be the best app that gives the most controls to the users. You can even shoot I'm bulb mode. I'm not sure if this actually controls the shutter speeds or it is just another illusion effect that it uses but the night pictures look great using this app. Totally worth the money. Five out of five.
