This app reminds me of the late 90s Disney Interactive brand of online flash games. There are a handful of simple, yet fun mini games along with some other activities that correspond to the movie franchise (for which I am a big fan). So far my favorite game is the snowball fight with Orm.
Each of the mini games use a quirk using a printed image of the Wizart Logo, your phone’s camera to map it’s location to bring a 3D augmented world to life. Using your phone to move around a 3D model.
Whereas the gimmick that brings these games to life is very cool, there are odd bugs that occur from time to time, despite having a photograph to use as a focal point the game really only seems to have a 180 degree view instead of a full 360, which would make the games even better.
The most notable disappointment I have is with the models themselves, particularly the characters—especially in the “Take a Selfie with (character)” features. These are using very low poly count that they end up looking kind of ugly. It’s sad since the characters in the movies are much more beautiful than the game delivers.
Maybe they could create an upgrade mode for higher powered mobile devices.
Other than these nitpicks, I love the Series as a whole and am happy to know that a game for my favorite Wizart films even took the time to make this app in the first place.
