Hey gang, I've got a nice quality-of-life update for you. This release has lots of little features, improvements, and a healthy amount of bug fixes.

**NEW SETTINGS DESIGN**
The Settings area of the app has been completely redesigned from scratch. This brings a lot of customization across the app for things like changing the shape of items in your lists, hiding data types you don't use, and a new "quirky mode" toggle.

Overview of what's new:
• A new "Fiddly Things" area to fine-tune and customize the app to your taste
• New design for choosing an alternate app icon...and some new app icons

=========================

**SMALLER APP SIZE**
Sofa's app size was getting a little too large for my liking. I've optimized things under-the-hood and was able to significantly reduce the size of the app on your device. Your device should now feel much lighter in your hands!

=========================

**BUG FIXES**
• FIXED: Crash on iPad when trying to load The Pile on launch
• FIXED: Issue where you couldn't move items to from a private to a shared list
• FIXED: Poor search experience if your search query had a trailing empty character
• FIXED: Date formatting bug in Activity for non-US countries that would prevent proper filtering

• FIXED: App review prompt repeatedly showing on macOS
• FIXED: List widgets weren't displaying their group names
• FIXED: Shelf Widget not refreshing it's data
• FIXED: The description field background color was incorrect in Edit List Details

3.3
2022-04-27
Hey gang, ready for a fun update? This release enables you to make your lists even more personal and fun.
• Cover images for lists
• Large titles and descriptions
• New layout options
• Custom settings per list
• Edit custom item's image and title

REQUIREMENTS
• An iPhone or iPad running at least iOS 15+
• An Apple Silicon Mac running 12.3+

******

**ABOUT THIS UPDATE**
The lists that people create in Sofa are highly personal and are often painstakingly curated over time. A lot of time, effort, and care go into the creation and curation of people’s reading lists, watch lists, playing lists, and more. The benefit of Sofa is being able to manage all of this in one place so you can be more intentional with your downtime.

******

**WHAT'S NEW WITH LISTS**
For your lists, you'll now be able to add a cover image, large title, and description, along with more layout options.

COVER IMAGES
Add a large cover image to each of your lists. You can search from Sofa's movie, tv show, and video game data sources, Unsplash, or add an image with a URL.

LARGE TITLES & DESCRIPTIONS
Display a large title for your lists and give it a description. Descriptions support markdown syntax for a little extra flair. Perfect for adding bold, italic, and links.

LAYOUT OPTIONS
Two new "cozy" grid and list layout options. These "cozy" options are great for lists where you want a little more information density.

CUSTOM SETTINGS PER LIST
All list settings are now saved per list and synced with iCloud. This means you can choose different sorting and layout options for each list.

NEW "EDIT LIST" VIEW
To easily understand and customize all these settings, there is a new view dedicated to controlling all the details. Tap the ••• button in the top right of each list, then "Edit List Details".

******

**EDIT CUSTOM ITEMS**
Custom Items are a great way to add content to your lists even if one of Sofa's data sources can't find it. Previously, custom items would use a random image from Unsplash. Now, you can change the title and cover image for custom items in your lists. This should make custom items feel more at home in your lists.

******

**STICKY NOTES MARKDOWN SUPPORT**
Sticky Notes now support markdown syntax. This is helpful for adding emphasis and links to your notes.

IMPORTANT CHANGES
• Editing Sticky Notes now requires explicitly tapping the "edit" button in the top bar. There are pros and cons to this approach, but the main benefits are that rendering and interacting with Markdown is much more reliable with this implementation.

******

**NEW THEMES**
Sofa is ready for spring and summer with 8 new themes:

SPRING
• New Day
• Flower Power
• Open Fields
• Sleeping Flowers

SUMMER
• Camp Out
• Clear Skies
• Surf’s Up
• Island Vibes

******

**IMPROVEMENTS**
• You can now take action on items when performing a global search

******

**BUG FIXES**
• Fixed the pluralization of an Activity metric category when the total equaled one.
• Fixed a bug where items would "flash" when being moved to and from the Shelf

3.1.3
2021-11-08
Hey gang, important update today regarding themes.

First, I’ve added 30 new themes! The new themes span these categories:
• Light Grey
• Dark Grey
• 80s
• 90s
• Outerspace
• Fall
• Winter

**THEME CHANGES**
Going forward, themes will be bundled exclusively with Super Sofa. This means you’ll no longer be able to purchase themes individually.

Don’t fear! If you’ve purchased themes in the past you’ll still be able to use and restore them on current and future devices. Nothing is being taken away from you.

Also, themes and app icons will be decoupled. This will allow me to add new themes in the future.

If you want the full story, head over to the Sofa YouTube channel.

• Deeplink URLs have been updated to be more reliable and helpful in integrating with iOS. These changes required breaking how existing deeplinks worked for individual items. Apologies for the disruption, but this is better for long-term support.

SamuelMeln,
ADHD Life-Saver
My life consists of a lot of moving pieces and commitments, add in a sprinkle of ADHD and I’m the most forgetful person on this planet. I’m always looking for a way to easily log and track the different books or shows I want to watch when I finally get some free time. I’ve tried things like written notes or the notepad app but always manage to lose or forget about them. I’m also a very visual person, so not being able to easily see the cover of the media makes it harder to recall what it was about or why I even wanted to watch/read it. Sofa makes it so easy to quickly log a piece of media without having to hunt down all of the information itself. The shelf feature allows you to store media of all kinds in one category. I use it to log all of the media I am currently consuming and plan to consume next. Adding the widget to my phone makes it easy to quickly figure out what I want to watch next without having to rack my brain trying to remember that movie I saw on Netflix last week. It’s a game changer. 10/10. If the developers ever make something geared towards students or working professionals (marking conferences or technical documents), I’ll gladly use that too. My work around is adding in a custom category and inputting the titles manually. Multiple shelves would also be cool. Big thank you to the developers for the awesome app!
saintlier,
The backlog to end all backlogs
Truly the app I never knew I needed. Sometimes I put media in my backlog onto my daily to-do list just because it doesn’t really fit into any better place, so this is the perfect app to curate every piece of the pie I’ve dipped a finger in lol. It really is a great concept for those days when you know you have a nice chunk of free time, but aren’t sure what to do with it. Plus, having lists across multiple media genres in this one app consolidates many of the backlogs that I’m keeping in different places.

The UI is clean and intuitive, and I love the resource lookup integration, as even obscure titles readily appear when I search for them. Adding custom items is a great feature, too.

I do wish we had the ability to manually reorder items on a list rather than only by A-Z or date added. I look forward to seeing what new media formats get added to the app!
derajpaarg,
Not a bad app
I really like this idea. I downloaded it to organize my video games because I’m an achievement hunter. So having lists for games I need to purchase, games I need to complete 100%, and all by console. The reason I’m only giving 3 stars is for a few reasons… #1 - Can’t pick game by console. Example: there are Xbox 360 games and Xbox one games and you can differentiate them. #2 - Ran into several games I wanted to add that didn’t show up on the search. It does let you add a “custom game name” but it doesn’t let you choose the artwork for it, it’s just a blank generic image. Not a huge deal but part of the reason I was drawn to the app was the imagery. #3 - Can’t add notes or anything to anything on the lists. #4 - Can’t move items on lists around. Once items are added they stay in the order they were entered. So if you want all games (or anything, really) in a series together and in order, you have to add them all in a row in the order you want. Again, not a bad app. Just not user friendly enough yet for the purposes I’m looking for. I’m going to keep the app regardless and hope the dev will make some of these changes.

I do LOVE the fact that there is no data the app takes or need. Bravo on that 👏
aClair3,
Wow!!! Finally!!!
I rarely ever write reviews (cuz I think it’s too much work 🙈) but I just can’t help myself but to write one for this app since it literally is my dream-list-app come true!!! Not exaggerating! I have (well, had...) an Excel spreadsheet for… well… this… and I always dreaded having to have to open the file just to add things to or update the list. I’ve searched for a very, very, very long time for an app like this — simple, intuitive, eye candy, flexible, clean, uncomplicated yet simply complete in its usefulness, highly satisfying to use, etc., — with no luck, and at 2am in the morning as I delay my sleep, I found it!!! Thank you!!! You have made one avid list user, who has a list for everything, very giddy and satisfied for sure! I absolutely love this app!😍
MrDominus7,
Best app for what it does - suggestion to add note option
I am not a fan of the new aesthetic changes. The 3 options “The Pile,” “Activity,” and “Themes” now take up half the screen - in black mode you can’t see the outlines, either, so the organization looks off (I didn’t realize “The Pile” button was one long rectangle until I saw the screenshots here). Also I’m not sure “Themes” needs to be front and center all of the time (it’s also one of the few options under Settings, so it feels redundant).

I also dislike that the checkbox option was removed from items on the list in favor of ellipses with options, so it now requires 2 taps rather than 1 to check an item off. The list view also looks like each item takes up more space, so you see less at a glance and need to scroll more.

I still like the app but the new aesthetic/layout changes make it feel more clunky and less stream-lined.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This app is certainly the best for keeping a list of what to watch, listen to, or read.

My only suggestion would be to allow for the option to add a short note to things on your list. I often see things recommended online or by friends and sometimes forget the context of why I added something. So it would be nice if I can add that to items on my list (e.g., recommended by John Doe because it’s about X, Y, and Z”).
Note_Luver,
What Am I Missing
Based on the reviews I was expecting this to be a “must have” type app. I was thoroughly disappointed.
Here is what I gleaned from using this app:
I. It is merely a way to select certain ‘objects’ you want to evaluate later. These objects being limited to: iOS apps, books, podcasts, movies (and a few other generic items as such).
2 When you go to that area (let’s say podcasts) you can search for a podcast or description, and it returns a result list allowing to add it to that section.
3. I did this mainly with iOS apps (but found using the actual App Store much faster and detailed).
4. The worst part…when you are ready to listen to that podcast, or download that app you flagged…well, you can’t.
5. I can’t help but think one would be much better off simply creating notes called “Apps to check out”, Movies to Watch” etc then simply searching on the App Store, or IMBD or any place and simply sharing the link with that note. Oh, this app doesn’t have a sharing feature so if you are in the App Store and see an app you want to add to Sofa you can’t. You have to go in to sofa and go through the workflow looking it up within Sofa to add it.

Hey, to each is own and I’m truly glad that many people are enjoying this. From my experience though i just don’t see any value in using it whatsoever. All the best.
Hyperiuss,
Innovative Digital Storage Solution
Sofa is a great method to remember, jot down, or keep track of the material you want when you want it.

For me, I was looking for a solution to construct an App Library for apps that I want to or already have explored, but were taking up space or were inconvenient at that present time on my multiple devices but that I wanted to remember without having to keep searching the App Store. Sofa's ability to browse the iOS store and how easy it was to personalize the experience to match my needs totally impressed me, as did the fact that this is just scratching the surface of what Sofa has to offer, and all for free.

As I learn more about this application, the premium edition is becoming more enticing.
Callista Sparks,
No onboarding makes this hard to learn
The app loads for the first time and just gives you the interface. Could not figure out if there was an import function. I dread the idea of adding in older lists by hand. Will try again on the Mac version in case it’s more full featured there.

Not clear what is locked behind the pro subscription until you try to do something which is kind of annoying when trying to explore. It says it can tell you where a piece of media is from but warns that this functionality is not available for movies and TV. But this is the type of media most in need of this information. Stuff comes and goes from streaming services and I don’t stay subscribed to everything so I was really hoping to use this to stay organized about which parts of my backlog were available at a given time.

Oh well, cool idea but doesn’t work for me. Best of luck to the developer!
Roquentin999,
Almost perfect
I use this daily to help me decide what media to consume next, and to review media consumed recently. Two enhancements would make it better: (1) Update alphabetization rules to disregard articles (a, an, the) when they begin a title. (2) For TV shows, show me when the next new episode drops, and allow me to sort the list of all shows based on those dates. This will help me to avoid considering shows that aren’t yet available to watch. And if the show has ended or will be returning at an undetermined date, show that and sort those to the bottom or to a different list of ended or returning shows. In other words, something like what the Television Time app does in that respect.
Nornwen,
Well Designed
This app is really well designed, it doesn't give me a migraine just looking at it like other tv tracking apps... it is just the right amount of visual, not too much. I am glad that it is really simple, but also think it could benefot from a few more features. 1. it would be nice to record a bit more about shows/podcasts/etc. whether it be checking off what episodes/seasons you have watched or just being able to make notes about it, which could also be used for thoughts/review of the media. 2. it would be nice to be able to set notifications for the shows, podcasts, etc. you choose. 3. when you repeat an item they could be connected and share the same notes.
