Description

Are you looking for a natural way to reduce snoring and sleep apnea?

Are you willing to participate in a research study that could help thousands of people like you?

Then download the app to join the Soundly Research Study for free!

In collaboration with the Radian Institute and advised by researchers from Mayo Clinic, Soundly is conducting a research study on the benefits of gamified myofunctional therapy to reduce snoring and sleep apnea.

Myofunctional therapy is comprised of exercises for the upper airway muscles that have been shown in studies to reduce snoring and sleep apnea. The outcomes, however, are highly variable. Some people experiencing small reductions and others have reductions greater than 80%.

The goal of this study is to better understand who responds to myofunctional therapy and why.

“What a fun idea! Soundly greatly reduced my husband’s snoring.”

"I felt like my improvements were evident within two weeks of using the application - even when missing a couple days."

"I don't wake up with cotton mouth or headaches anymore."

"Over the course of using the Betea version, I've felt my throat muscles become stronger. At first, had difficulty completing a 15-minute session. Can now get through a session without difficulty. Thanks."

"One interesting thing that I have noticed - My vocal cords have thickened slightly due to age/menopause. I’ve gone to voice therapy but I have noticed that Soundly helps my singing voice."

Soundly is a fun and effective way to reduce your snoring without wearing uncomfortable devices during sleep. The Soundly is based on myofunctional therapy, a physical therapy that strengthens and tones your upper airway, thus reducing the tissue vibrations that cause snoring. Clinical research has shown that myofunctional therapy can also reduce the collapse of the upper air that causes sleep apnea and reduce AHI by more than 50%.

The Soundly Therapy was developed at the University of Minnesota’s Medical Devices Center in collaboration with the Fairview Sleep Center. The Soundly Therapy is based on the latest myofunctional therapy and behavioral change research. From 2020 to 2022 Soundly was used in a research study by Mayo Clinic and provided to patients with mild sleep apnea.

How does Soundly work?

You can think of Soundly as physical therapy for your upper airway. Snoring is caused by a weak and floppy airway that vibrates during inhalation. Soundly strengthens and tones your upper airway through a series of key vocalization exercises. Like other physical therapies, it can take several weeks to see the benefit. To make our therapy fun and engaging we have built it into a voice-controlled game. Simply play the game for 15 minutes a day to begin reducing your snoring.

Features
Weeks of guided therapy
Clinically test therapy
Engaging gamification
Evolve numerous unique characters while you strengthen your airway

“Sometimes I would get really into the game and completely forget I was doing a therapy to reduce my snoring.”

“My wife’s snoring didn’t go away completely, but now we can sleep in the same room again.”

Dirty steve sanchez,
Flawed but works
I’ve been playing this for years now and my wife definitely knows if I’ve played or not. The game is buggy and annoying but gets the job done. My record is level 207 I’m pretty sure.
cygeis,
The game itself is Absolute garbage..I hate this app
The idea of working out your tongue and throat is great and seems to be working. I am not snoring near as much as I was. But the game itself is garbage. The characters only respond to naw or ahhhh, but not to knee. It does better with HHEEE...or neeet, or needin...but even then will lock up and just not move. It’s very frustrating not to ever be able to get past level 1. And I am exaggerating the knee. And my family sure knows I’m saying knee cuz they hear me all over the house. I’m giving a 2 because it is helping but the game doesn’t work and deserves a zero.
CA-Claire,
Fun app, has great potential
I downloaded this, to see if it would help Siri, and Tina ToyotaEntune, since neither one understands me very well. Although I have severe sleep apnea, I have never snored.

I was only able to use this app for 3 days. It is deceptive advertising to say this is a free app with “in app purchases”. In order to use it for more than 3 days, you have to pay $9.99/month or $99/year.

I gave 2 stars that would have been 4 stars, if this had truly been a free app. You get a demonstration for 3 days before purchase is more accurate.
punpernick,
Really works
This app greatly reduced my snoring, to the point where it no longer bothers my spouse. I have found that I have to keep using it to avoid lapsing back into my old habits - a fact that, while annoying, provides further evidence of its efficacy. I also suspect that it reduces my (mild) sleep apnea, improving quality of sleep and mental acuity. Quite amazing...
ethmah01,
Costs money???
I was very excited to get and try this app, but then I learned it costs money... I’d rather have an option to enable ads and get a subscription for free. If you could add this change, then maybe I would consider trying it again. For now, I’ll rate three stars for potential, and I understand how it could cost money, but if I wanted to, I could just say “nee” and “naw” all I wanted and that would work just as well.
mjgvf,
Fun and seems helpful.
After many months, I still find it fun and entertaining. There is plenty of variety to the game. My snoring is less frequent and not as loud. I do not have any way to be certain but it feels helpful. I have not had surgery or made any other structural or specific environmental changes.
Gally 99,
Good idea, horrible cost!
Good idea backed by research and a nice motivational tracker to help you stick with the program... but $30 per year to track how many “knee/naws” I say daily? Plenty of more comprehensive and complex healthy and lifestyle apps are so much less. Even the hidden lowest cost of $18/year is too much! And why do I need a friggin LOGIN for this? C’mon - if you are doing this as part of the UofM health study, then you can pay ME for my data!

App should be a stand-alone, one time unlock for maybe $5 with IAP and NO LOGIN!
Jan7heaven,
Good exercise freezes sometimes
This seems like it should be fruitful.
It is frustrating when the character freezes or doesn’t respond. Hard to know if it is my enunciation or the app. Will see if it works
dg3579,
Clever app that really helps
I give this app credit for really helping to reduce my snoring. I still snore, but not as much and not as loudly as before since I started using the app. I have high hopes that continued use of the app will reduce my snoring even further.

John
I’ve been using Soundly since it’s Beta stage. The exercises have definitely strengthened my throat muscles. According to my wife, my snoring is greatly reduced at night.
Thank you Soundly for developing this great program.
