Sparkify® is a free "pre-social" networking app that allows users to select from hundreds of possible common interests (sparks) from twenty diverse categories and then search to find matches in close geographic proximity in order to "spark" a conversation. The conversation could be in person or in a chat function.
Sparkify® is geared to matching common interests to "spark" a conversation. It is not geared to dating, business, or social. Of course, anything is possible after you meet someone, but that is up to you. You have your initial icebreakers. Sparkify® profiles are short and professional. A first name and last initial, a professional picture, and some very basic personal information are all that are listed. The simplicity and selection of "sparks" to screen for matches of selected common interests that you can change at any time sets Sparkify® apart from other social networking apps.
Using Sparkify® is as easy as 1-2-3:
#1: Sign-up, Create a Profile. It's simple and you can use your Facebook or LinkedIn profile to make it even easier.
#2: Select up to ten interests or "sparks." These are changeable at any time, and you are free to choose sparks from twenty diverse categories.
#3: Search for people in close geographic proximity with matching sparks. Sort them by distance, number of matching sparks, or by one specific spark.
Then you decide: Chat and/or meet with your initial ice-breaker and common ground already identified.

• When creating your profile, City and State is now a manual entry across all three sign in types (Facebook, LinkedIn, Email & Password)

• "green dot" (showing available) chat status indicator issue fixed, now stays on for the first hour even if you leave the app

Awesome app for recent graduates!
This app helps connect people, like me, who are relocating after graduation. I can connect with either people who I graduated with or new people who have similar interests.

Unique App that is Fun and Practical
This is a great App that is unlike any of the many others out there in Social Networking. It is only starting in San Diego but I see it growing nationwide soon. It is great for discovering icebreakers to start conversations with people around you. I love the Sorting options, the simplicity of the setup, the fact that you can change your sparks at any time, and the ability to save profiles who you see regularly or have an ongoing Chat with in Favorites. The more people that download the Sparkify app, the better the experience will be. Keep up the good work.

Sparkify a new connection
This app is amazing. I just moved here in San Diego last month. Then, I met this app. It was really easy to set up n get started. At the time I just moved here, I barely knew anyone. So I needed THIS. I met a couple people through Sparkify. We have lunch several times a week because we got along so well. This app shows similar interests n distance from you, so you can find someone close with similar interests. Sparkify is Shockingly Simple!
What a wonderful application! You can find people you have common interests with that are in proximity to you.
The only qualm I have is that it would be nice to have all notifications centrally located in the side bar to give yet another added level of convenience.
Other than that I M enjoying sparking up conversations with those that I share common interests with. :)

Find Friends by Interest
This app is brand new and based on the simple premise that lasting friendships are made through safe and easy introductions to others with things in common - "sparks." Each person registers their location and interests. Sparkify then shows those with similar interests and sorts them by distance. I also learned new things about my existing friends.
