Description

***Now with ability to upgrade at a discount***

Whether you’re a speech and language pathologist (SLP), an SLP college student, a parent of children with speech delays, or someone trying to improve their American English accent, you’re going to find this an invaluable application.

A first of its kind in the field, Speech Tutor brings the latest in technology and animation to the world of speech. The animations inside Speech Tutor take the areas of the face that impede the view of tongue placement and positioning and make them transparent. Now one can literally see inside the mouth as the sounds are being made!

Speech Tutor offers a “Side View” and a “Front View” of each sound production, both of which can be viewed at 3 different speeds (slow, medium, fast). The movies can also be paused any given point. With 132 animations in all, Speech Tutor is sure to offer a helpful view and speed for anyone in need.

Speech Tutor does not stop there though. Non SLPs can begin the application by reading an easy to understand “Basics” tutorial which provides the reader with a solid foundation of the basic knowledge needed to know before attempting to improve any/all English consonants. Also provided is detailed text specific to each sound that further describes how each sound is technically made, tips provided by licensed speech and language pathologists, and milestones for when each sound should be acquired and mastered. Along with viewing the animations, one can also view a “Palate” diagram to further demonstrate where on the palate the tongue should be placed.

Last but not least, users of the application can choose to record themselves as they practice their target sounds and then choose to play it before and after a correctly modeled production.

Animations for the following sounds are provided:
P, B, T, D, K, G, N, M, ING, F, V, S, Z, SH, CH, J, L, R (retroflex and bunched), TH (voiced and voiceless) and 4 new vowel animations - /i/, /u/, /a/ and /æ/

LS*,
Nice Articulation App
I just recently upgraded to SPEECH TUTOR PRO. This app provides nice animation to show what is happening in the mouth while making speech sounds. I like the ability to save specific sounds to a child's profile so that you don't have to reselect the each time. The pictures are clear and presented on white backgrounds.
I have had some problems with the app crashing. I hope this gets fixed soon.
Sunset891,
Awesome app but very misleading
I just purchased this app. I got the regular one and it doesn’t have everything that is advertised. You’re only getting the videos for about 20 sounds along with half the home page promoting the pro version for another $20. Very helpful but definitely not worth the cost if you aren’t getting what is advertised. I desperately need this for my kids and it looks like it has been developed by some amazing professionals. So I upgraded to the pro version. But because of the misleading advertising and the price of it I would be weary purchasing anything else by the same developers. Even though this is probably worth the price, I feel a bit cheated. I would recommend the developers offering a lite version for a few videos of a few sounds to try out first (at no cost). Then offer the pro version for anyone that wants more. $20 to test it out and be bombarded with an ad isn’t going to make your customers happy.
Madtha,
Accent Modification Clients as well as Artic therapy!
SPEECH TUTOR has been a biofeedback tool which has significantly helped both articulation and Accent Modification Clients. Why try to explain what to do when you can explain and SEE and HEAR what to do...

SPEECH TUTOR can be used with children and adults who need to SEE the tongue’s relationship to the teeth, lips and jaw movements. The in-depth mouth movements, both front and side, are highly detailed. SPEECH TUTOR provides materials so that there is no longer a need for paper materials, tape or video recording. It’s built-in!

I have invested in several biofeedback apps, and the others simply have not updated for iPad use, which has been a waste of money. Thank you, SPEECH TUTOR, for continued support and updates, which I, and my clients rely on, for making progress in targeted goals and objectives. Best practices!
Womaninink2,
Front and side views don’t work for all letters
When originally downloaded this app the entire alphabet was shown for front and side view (or so I thought). Instead of purchasing one letter at a time I purchased/upgraded the entire app and now I am unable to play sounds that once appeared on the screen. For example, my daughter couldn’t pronounce “L” and I played the side view and she got it. But now she overgeneralizes and her “Y” sound turned into the “L” sound and now I am unable to play the side view of “Y”. If I am unable to have the side view for letters, I would like to be refunded since I only purchased this full app for the purpose of having side view picture of tongue placement for all of the letters in the alphabet. Please advise.
JanettCF,
Upgrade was more like a downgrade
I paid this app for 3 years ago- worked beautifully for providing visual cueing during articulation therapy. Made the mistake of upgrading the app and it's a complete disaster.

They added so much stuff and NOT in a cool, easy to use way.... would've been better if they just created separate apps. Graphics are cheap - and now, the one feature I loved about it ( the sagital view of inner oral cavity) is hidden under videos that don't completely fill up my iPad screen. If you're gonna overhaul a product this way, please test it out with USERS first.
This upgrade feels like you hired a HS student to develop it cause it was cheap. Wish I could my money back!
Wagnerslp,
Awesome App with Excellent Visual Animations!
Speech Tutor was one of my first speech therapy apps, and it continues to be one of the very best! It gives audio and video clips of each phoneme in real time as they are made inside and outside of the mouth. It even has a recording feature! I highly recommend it for any SLP's therapy toolbox. I have also upgraded to Speech Tutor Pro which offers a great expansion with Artic card decks, games, and more to fit your needs.
speechmom9597,
Love this app!
I upgraded to the pro version about a year ago. My students love it. I like that it makes the hard to see sounds visible and the kids like seeing and hearing themselves with the camera and microphone capabilities. The variety of pictures is great too. I’ve even used it with graduate students to help them improve their understanding of the articulators.
Flour D Lee,
Long time user - love the upgrade
Speech tutor was the first tool I had ever found that could show my students how to produce back sounds like /k/ or /r/. I love the new pro version that allows me to practice words, conducting a whole session, reverting back to the video when needed without having to switch between apps. Well done! Keep up the good work!
Figuratively Speeching SLP,
Love it!
I use Speech Tutor on a daily basis, especially with my r students. The kids love the visuals, it really helps them to see what they need to do to produce their sounds correctly. I also like the ability to switch off to different students in a group, rather than using with just one student at a time.
Denyse SLP,
Speech Tutor
I use this app all the time with my students. They love the animation and I love that I can show them different perspectives of how a sound is produced. These images are difficult to create in therapy. I can’t talk about how the sound is made and show it at the same time. LOL. The video feature is great too!
