Description

Spells at your fingertips. Literally.

The Killer App for D&D v3.5 (d20) and Pathfinder RPG Gamers

SpellbookMaster for iPhone and iPad makes it easy to find Dungeons & Dragons v3.5 (d20) and Pathfinder spells fast and see detailed information for them.

You can browse spells by name, level, domain and class. For each class, see spells sorted by name or by level for easy access. Searching allows you to find spells by any search term.

To get you started, SpellbookMaster can automatically import d20 System Reference spells from www.systemreferencedocuments.org or Pathfinder reference spells from d20pfsrd.com. You can also import your own spells from text files.

Spellbooks can be shared among iPhones, iPod touches and iPads using the application. Spells can be edited on a Mac running SpellbookMaster for Mac 2.3, a free application, and then imported to the iOS app.

- Added support for receiving documents from other apps. You can now open spellbooks from email attachments, for example.
- Spells are sorted case insensitively. This helps if some spells are all uppercase while others are not.
- Fixed grouping spells by class which use full class name instead of abbreviation. For example, now Bard and Brd are both correctly grouped as Bard spells.
- Fixed grouping spells by class/domain, now the whole class/domain name has to match, not just a part of it. For example, War domain spells aren't grouped under domain named Dwarf.

Captain Cookie Chris,
Good but needs better filter system.
Very useful on the fly but the Mac version is better in that you can filter by spell level, class, and school. This App only allows for you to filter each of those things separately, making you search a giant amount of spells.
Sharlatech,
Used it for years!
Thanks for your work on this app!
*Ceris*,
Excellent Program!
This application is just what I needed. I need a portable spell book and the Player's Handbook 3.5 ed. is prohibitively expensive. I tried several options including bringing my entire laptop with me. I was still wasting time "flipping" pages. My biggest concern was that the spells would be paraphrased or otherwise modified. Neither was true. The spells you can download come straight from the D20 SRD resource for 3.5 and you can even edit the information. I also downloaded the Spellbook Master 2.2 for my Mac. Together they make me an unstoppable druid!
Art&Madness,
Too expensive for what you get, but good...
The first two imports of the d20 data from Wizards gave me corrupted spell books and I can't delete them, but once I got it it works great.

With no on board way to add spells and only "web" import or a MAC only specific app, the adding spells is left with the user wanting more..

If they add better ways to add/modify spells "individually" and easier ways to add additional spellbooks (plus searches across multiple spellbooks for when your not sure which one it's in) this whould make it a 4 star, add the delete feature of both individual spells and spellbooks and you have a 5 star.

Other then that it is nice to have the basic d20 spells on my iPod touch, handy for easy reference.
Reduku,
Incredibly useful!
wonderful app, it's definitely a time saver when playing or running my pathfinder games. I really enjoy the filtering options and its smooth interface.

hopefully in up coming updates it will allow filtering by all three of the filters at once, such as filtering all wizard spells that are 3 level and are in the evocation school. Also a wonderful addition for be to allow the user to create custom spell lists, as to keep track of the spells a particular character has for quick reference.
Lady Pagan,
But wait! There's more on my review
I read on the app support that there was a computer program (much like SpellGen) that was compatible with this app. I like the fact that one exists, but is there a way we can get this app to be Windows PC compatible? I have an iPad, but run a Windows PC.

Another suggestion would be to have the ability to create multiple spellbooks in case of high party member mortality rates. A way to save spellbook by character in app, and the ability to prep and cast spells with a way to track spell components would be great too. I figured that since I was wishing on screen, I could go ahead and wish for the moon :-)
Please email me with any resources that are compatible with my setup. Thank you.
StarCat768,
Amazing...1 suggestion...
You should have seen the guys I game with when I showed them this app. It was like telling a group of adolescent girls that the Twilight characters are real and all single. It's pretty perfect the way it is with what it does, my suggestion would just make it go above and beyond. If there was some way to create and save customized spell lists for your characters (and maybe mark when they're used and reset when you rest) that'd be awesome. But all in all, it's well worth the price.
Ikit Klaw,
Version 1.2
Great update, with the ability to add spells via a text file from a website it gives non Mac users the ability to have a spellbook consiting the spells they want. This is well worth the money, you can sort by Spell Name, School, Levels, or Classes and when looking by class you can sort it by level or spellname for that class. Why are you still reading? go get this App
sherlockjr24,
One feature away
from five stars - please add a way to delete spellbooks when people like me do something stupid like download the same spellbook twice. Otherwise love the app. Very helpful in the game. Easy to use and saves a lot of page flipping.

Edited to add a star.
Oooh, so THAT'S how you do it. Swipe over the spellbook with your finger and the delete button comes up. Cool. 5 stars it is then.
Fettts,
Can't create book on iPad
I bought this program for my cleric character who needs to memorize spells daily. While I can see all the spells I created on my Mac, it will not let me create a new spellbook on my iPad. I was hoping for the feature to create a book and move spells from the main list to the new book for daily use and then delete it when I learn more spells. If this feature got implemented, I'd easily give it 5 stars (especially for the price of the iPad app)
