Description

Spelling Bee is a very popular word game in the US. This game allowed to practice spelling. The rules of our Spelling Bee game are quite simple. Find as many words as possible in a set of 7 letters. Every day you are given new 7 letters - 6 simple and one obligatory. You need to tap on the letters on the screen or keyboard to make 4 letter words out of them. In this case, you can use any number of letters any number of times, but each word must contain a central letter.

The more words, the more points you get. In order to play well, you need to know how certain words are spelled. That's why one of the most important skills for this game is spelling. Be attentive and don't miss a single word!

AWpearson,
Good daily brain exercise
Like some other daily players, I did not like some of the recent changes. Rather than posting an immediate negative review for the public to read, I used the Feedback button in the app to tell the developers what I thought about specific features. They wrote back within 24 hours, not with a generic response, but with information on every point I had listed. To me, that is very good customer service, and I appreciate it. I see today that some of the issues have already been fixed in a new update, and I applaud the developers for their quick work.
Jesse's Sister,
Brain teaser
All in all, I really like this app. The updated version has some changes that need to be addressed but they are working on it. Most days it gives my brain a challenge. I like the new puzzle everyday and look forward to checking the previous day’s answers. As most reviews state, there is definitely a dictionary issue, that they are working to fix. I often find words that don’t count but I just move on to the next word. Players do need to realize that including every word also comes with a downside. There may be words that you don’t like but if you want to count all legitimate words, you can’t have it both ways. Most importantly, this is a FREE game! FREE! There’s a lot of people who need to get off their high horses and go play a paid a version, if it’s that upsetting. Unfortunately, free means advertising because at the end of the day nothing is truly free. The advertising is at the bottom of the page and does not in anyway disrupt playing the game or viewing the game in a single screen on an iPhone. Most games have advertising so it shouldn’t be that shocking. Maybe there should be a paid version for those that don’t want ads??? I would definitely pay for this app, once some things are fixed. My biggest issue is not having the ability to view answers to the unlimited games. That really takes the fun out of it. As far as the daily game, I enjoy and look forward to a new puzzle everyday.
Gammarus55,
Not pleased with recent update
I find myself playing this game a lot less since the update. In fact, I am now finding that I can skip several days and not really care. The one thing I do like about the update is the fact it gives you the total number of possible words. That is where the positive changes end. I do not like that it includes quite a number of abbreviations as valid words. The repetition of the same letter set day after day with only the letter in the center varied also greatly diminishes the enjoyment of playing the game. Also,I do not care for the fact that the achievement levels are no longer provided. I have considered simply deleting this app, but I’m going to hang in and see if these adverse changes are remedied.

Fun brain teaser
Excellent free version of NYT’s Spelling Bee game offering a new puzzle to solve each day. The next day you can view the entire list of possible words to see what ones you might have missed. There’s also an “Unlimited” mode where you can play as many puzzles as you want. Only criticism is there’s no way to view the word list for Unlimited games, so impossible to find out what words remain even after achieving Genius rank. I also feel like I’ve entered several legitimate words that weren’t accepted (e.g. tepee) but I suppose no dictionary has every word. All in all a fun way to jumpstart your brain.
Tiger Mountain,
You Ruined The Game
Today’s upgrade turned me from a daily player into a deleter, who will return to the NYT version. The only improvement that was needed to the prior game was a more thorough dictionary. With the upgrade, my entire play history and weekly scores have been lost, levels no longer exist to gauge one’s progress, and distracting ads appear at the bottom. (I would have paid for the prior gam, if asked.) Note: percentage of progress against a perfect score is not nearly as useful as descriptive levels ending in Genius, attained prior to perfection.

This was an upgrade that appears to have been driven by a misguided leadership team who never bothered to understand from their users what improvements would be mutually beneficial. The other possibility is that the NYT hit you with a copyright infringement threat. If that is the case, it worked. I’m returning to their game.
SpellingBina,
Update 5.0 has wrecked what was good about this game
I used to love playing this game - simple to use, no ads, no extra fluff. Update 5.0 changed all that. Now there are ads that are distracting, pop ups that let you know how “great” you are when your guesses are correct - when they aren’t correct you have to delete each letter of the incorrect word to get rid of it. The whole word used to automatically disappear when your guess was wrong. The interface is bigger and clunky. It’s just not fun anymore. I’m giving it up.

Update - some bugs were fixed, some are still frustrating. Today’s puzzle is basically yesterday’s. Letters were moved slightly, so all I had to do was look at words from yesterday and plug them in. Not exactly challenging.

Miss the old version
I am only writing a review in hopes that the issues from the update get fixed. I love this game and play almost everyday but since the updates, I like it less. It misses words, like today the letters are ALNVENC N as the center letter and it won’t accept eleven. I found this a couple of times with other puzzles. Also the letters from one day to the next are very similar so a lot of the same words are found and I have to use all my integrity to not reference the previous day. And I have experienced the same letters multiple days in a row. These issues aside- I’m Still a fan. However, I might find a different puzzle game if these issues aren’t addressed.
Laura3gsd,
Frustrated, not syncing
I was not thrilled with the changes to the game so I haven’t played it as much and care less whether I try to rise to the challenge. Occasionally, with the older version, my sister and I would compare how far we’d gotten. We just decided to do that again and found out the daily game is not syncing up, despite doing the updates to the app. Another glitch needing a fix. We are 2 hours apart with time zones, not a full day. Today I have the puzzle she did yesterday. Once again losing interest because we can’t converse and compare how we are doing with the same daily game. :/
88illini,
Frustrating at times
The concept behind this game is great. I was looking for something in addition to Wordle as a daily brain teaser that my wife and I could do while having morning coffee. But the very obvious common words omitted from the apps list of words, the words included that aren’t really words, and the misspelled words that you can only get right if you misspell them has led my wife to quit playing altogether, and has me thinking of doing the same. If the game only used real words spelled correctly, it would be a fiver star app. But as it is, I struggled to give it three stars.
Former Fan62,
Used to be good
This used to be a good game. Unfortunately, they have taken away the ability to review your stats. They have also removed our ability to see how many words we need to reach the different levels. In addition, we used to be able to see our levels on the same line as our word list. For some reason, they removed the automatic deletion of words not in their word list. Now the incorrect words will sit there until you delete them-a waste of time. They added a feature where if you get a word correct, they flash a word like “great!” or “amazing!” I feel this feature adds no value.
