Description

Remember the classic card game Memory? Or maybe you remember the game Concentration? Either way, States AV is a exciting new twist on the game with an educational component.

Like the traditional game, a series of cards are laid face-down on the playing board. You flip up two cards at a time, looking for a matching pair.

Here’s where things get interesting in States AV.

When you flip up a card you see a picture of a state and hear the name of another state. That’s the AV (audiovisual) part of the game. Your job is to match the picture of a state on one card with the spoken name of the state on a different card.

Getting started is easy. Simply choose the country you want to play. Then tap “Play Game!”

The countries included in States AV are the United States, Mexico, and Canada (provinces and territories). China (provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities) is available as an in-app purchase.

Not familiar with the states? States AV is a great way to learn! Play the “Listen and Learn” mode. Simply tap the picture of a state and its name is spoken and its position on the country map is highlighted. It’s like flashcards for states!

There are multiple options for gameplay, so you can make the game as easy or challenging as you like.

Play Memory AV by yourself and aim for a high score. Challenge a friend in two-player mode to see who can make the most matches. Or play against one of four computer opponents, from Forgetful Felicia to Brainiac Brenda.

Any way you play, States AV is an educational and entertaining way to stimulate your brain.

States AV now has an option for you to peek at a card without taking a turn. If you’re playing against a computer opponent, only you will see and hear the card.

We've also added China to States AV as an optional in-app purchase.

We've added a new “lite” mode to States AV. In lite mode each card has an image or a sound, not both. It's a less-challenging version of States AV. But note that point values are halved. For the highest score—and to achieve the elusive perfect score—you'll want to play the regular version of States AV.

In another new feature, cards are no longer automatically flipped down at the end of each turn. This means you can take all the time you like to review the face-up cards and commit them to memory. Tapping a card while it's face up will replay the audio for the card. Then when you're ready, simply swipe the screen to flip the cards face down and begin the next turn.

This release of States AV adds support for iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
