Happy walking! For iOS 16, we've added Lock Screen widgets, Siri Shortcuts support, and weather in your workouts. Read on for details!

This update includes bug fixes and performance improvements.

More about our new features:

1) Lock Screen widgets. We've added a bunch of widgets, including a detailed summary of the day, an hourly chart of your activity, and a one line summary, as well as circular gauges showing goal progress and a single measure of your choice.
2) Shortcuts & Siri. Try saying, “Hey Siri, how many steps today?” You can also say things like "change my Steps goal", or "start a Steps workout with a distance goal". And of course, in the Shortcuts app, you can use these as building blocks for your own shortcuts.
3) Weather. Recording a workout? Steps now shows the current weather, and highlights any weather alerts. It will even let you know if it’s about to start raining! Once your workout is done, we show a summary of the weather during your workout. And if you've given Steps permission to work with Apple Health, Steps saves weather conditions there too.

Here are a few:
- Summaries in the History tab now show calories if available

LucaTheLegend,
I love this app!!!
This game motivates me to go outside and run all day every day. Instead of playing other games, when I’m bored I go outside and start jogging with my best friend who also has the app. Believe or not, even though you don’t actually play any sort of game on this app, it’s actually kind of fun just running around the neighborhood. You also never know if you might meet a friend while running or jogging. I also love the fact that you can change the colors in the background. In addition, you can see the number of miles you’ve ran and how long you’ve been running for. You’re also able to change you’re goal for steps in a day. And you can pay just $1.99 to see the amount of calories you’ve burned for the day. Finally, you can check you’re history to see if the number of steps you’ve taken in a day has gone up compared to other days. I motivate everyone to get this app! I love it and you’ll love it too!
Jobilizer,
Spotty
A couple of times I found that the app just stopped counting my steps at less than 20% of my total steps during a ‘Workout’. The other thing is, if you forget to hit ‘Finish’, merely pausing it won’t stop the time from accumulating so, even though you finished all of your walk for example in a planned “workout“, it won’t credit you the steps for the day you walked if you forgot to end that particular workout. Then, those step show up on the chart for the next day, but are not counted towards the next day’s steps either. So you don’t get credit for those steps, because they were really part of a work out that you did the day before, but it bled over into the next day because you forgot to turn hit ‘Finish’ that particular work out. Now, there are 2500 steps or so in this particular work out I’m talking about that are showing up for the following day because it was after midnight before I terminated the work out or ‘finished’ the work out, but they’re not showing up on the steps total for the next day, either. It would be very nice if we could go in and manually correct the finished time of a work out.
maddieieieiek,
This is a review on the app called “Steps”
This app is incredible! It is an app where yo can see how many flights of stairs and steps you have done, it also tracks any workouts you have done, how many miles you have done. It is an amazing app without and wit a membership! The membership prince is vey cheap for what it comes with! The themes that you can pick as a member and not a member are so cool! As a member I like the Pastel theme! This is one of the greatest apps ever! Even if you don’t need it, it is so cool to look at how many steps you have done! If you are trying to loose weight or become more healthy this app will definitely help you if you want to lose weight and become healthy with running, jogging and walking. In my opinion this app is a 10/10 this is a must in my everyday life!
Wren Virgilio,
Awesome!
This is a really nice app that properly tracks your steps, and lets you know what is healthy based on your age, hight, and weight. You can easily access all the information you need and it’s a well organized app. Even without the payed premium (only a one time purchase of 1.99 by the way) you have a few options for customizing your wallpaper, etc.., With this app you can change the settings easily and you don’t have to worry about “getting lost”. It doesn’t use much battery to keep open while your walking/running so you can open it up and check your steps really fast. Thank you so much for creating this! I highly recommend getting this app if you want to keep track of your health.
Sarita Polanco,
STEPS is a blessing! Helping me to keep healthy!
I started walking due to blood pressure being high and sometimes low...it’s just not good at all!
During last few weeks, I have noticed that it’s going up and up, to the point of visiting emergency room! My husband, my dad, and my younger brother and his wife love walking...their advice and their example have motivated me to start walking daily and make it part of my life :). It’s also what my doctor has advised for a long while now!
Therefore, I searched for an easy to use, free App that has the features I need: steps counting, miles, steps climbing, running time, maps showing route, and much more...and I found STEPS after I had tried two other Apps, STEPS is the best!!
Thank you so much!
Good health to all and Peace!🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
Nossy Nova,
Best Step App ever!!!
Accurate and always ready!
Was looking for an app that counted my steps, gave me the distance I walked and tabulated my calories. Here it is!!!!!!
I tried two other apps previously and although one said my phone and their app was compatible, whether I jogged, walked or sprinted, it still showed me at 0 steps. The other said it was free and it wasn’t! So, ready to give up I decided to try “Steps” and have absolutely loved it! Before this program, I had no idea how sedentary I had become after a severe break and shredded ligaments in my right ankle in 2017.
This app has gotten me up on my feet and done more for me than the PT I had taken, to get my ankle moving freely again. The steps shows progress which in turn helps set goals!
Thank you so much for this app!
Favp1,
Perfect
Does not count imaginary "steps" while I'm driving! Very accurate. No delay in seeing steps update like other apps. Seems to take little battery even when running in background. I have it noticed ANY drain. Can also see history by day by swiping up. I didn't buy the calories upgrade. I just want to see my steps and it is there in bold numbers without any delay or hesitation whatsoever. Also runs the clock only while you are walking, unlike other apps, so you can get a true picture of how long you ACTUALLY walked. Also shows your steps goal you set & % of goal completed. Shows distance. Nice surprise was it sent me a notification congratulating me on % of steps previous day even tho I didn't meet my goal. It was encouraging!
lorilewis,
Great app for general info
I’m not an athlete, not a serious exerciser, not a serious dieter. I am, however, interested in staying mobile and in reasonable health. This app is great for encouraging me to move more and helping me see trends of my activity level or lack thereof. I appreciate being able to set my own step goal and having it celebrated rather than accepting the usual 10,000 as a goal and everyday falling short. So, assuming you always have your phone in hand or in pocket and like encouragement to reach a goal that you set, this is a five star app. If you don’t always remember to have phone in hand...the app is still 5 star but you (and I mean me) are more like a three. 🙂
Nac51071,
STEPS needs a little tweak
This is a fine app, so far. I’ve used it for three weeks and find it meet all, but one of my needs it would rate five stars if there was a way to manually, enter a number of steps taken when you go off walking and you’re not carrying the phone. For an accurate count of your daily steps, you need the phone to be surgically attached to your body. Example: today I walked from the kitchen through the sunroom and out to sit on the patio. It was then that I discovered, I did not have my phone with me. So I retraced my path, counting the steps, retrieved my phone only to find that I could not adjust, the number officially shown. So my count will be off today. Other than that missing component, this is a fine app.
roseunfolding,
Simple, pretty, and functional
This app does what it says it does and does it well. Runs smoothly and has a fairly accurate step count. And it doesn't need a newer phone to work! Perhaps the biggest plus for me is that it DOES NOT automatically count calories (although that is n option). It's hard to find a nice pedometer that doesn't force you to count calories and I don't want that. I only have four stars because it does drain my battery a bit faster than I'd like, and because the sunrise animation doesn't run very smoothly - when you update your step count the background snaps to whatever percentage you've reached instead of a smooth animation. But overall, I like it and plan to keep using it!
