Promising but needs improvement
Having been a Supermemo addict on the Palm OS, I was glad to finally see it be developed for iOS. This is a good start, but needs some key improvements soon if it expects to win market share. First, there is no way I can find to reverse the "question" and "answer" so that you can be tested or study either way. This is especially useful for languages where you want on some occasions to study from the English definitions to the foreign word, and other times study from the foreign word to its English meaning. Second, there needs to be a way to change the font size of the index cards; the current size is quite small. Third, it would be useful (although not essential) if there were an easy way of converting old Palm OS files into a format that could be used in this app. Alternatively, a desktop software tool that could allow rapid input of large card files would be welcome.

my favorite app. but, the biggest problem's that it doesn't support iCloud backup. after changing into your new phone, you always lose all your learing data. what a pity

Astonishing app!
Do yourself a huge favor and get this app! It's got a few problems, yes, but they are inconsequential compared to what this app will do for you! In a word, using this app means you will never again forget anything you will need to remember! (Students, are you listening?) I haven't bothered to buy any of the lessons (the French is pitiful!). I just use the free app and create my own files. If you're a student, make a separate file for each of your courses. The program will make sure you know the material, and then will come back to refresh your memory at ever increasing intervals of time. If you screw up, then you're immediately back to daily drills until the program feels you can be trusted. I'm a French teacher and recommend this to all my students--and I use it daily for my own learning. (An additional plus is that you'll never have boring moments or down-time: Standing in line at the bus stop? supermarket? traffic jam? Whip out SuperMemo and learn something!)

Not as good as the Palm version
I was user of the Palm version of super memo by Mapletop software. It was a very comprehensive flash card program and it used sophisticated methods to help you memorize words but the best part was you could create your own flashcards easily on your computer and then import them into super memo. Very long lists of words could easily be created and then imported it made it very nice you could create various categories for your words and I found it very useful. It seems as if there is no connection between the Palm SuperMemo and this iPhone or iOS SuperMemo and that seems to be a bit of a loss to me. Something should really be done or made more apparent by them to show us how to make long lists of words easily entered into this program.

Despite it's slight learning curve, this program is a brilliant tool that takes the old flash cards model and brings it into our technological age.
Using the scientific model for when a person begins to forget, this program applies an algorithm for when to review your flash cards. When reviewing each flash card one may honestly "tell" the app wether the information was either remembered precisely, almost remembered or not remembered at all. The app uses these responses to decide when to bring up each item for review. And voila, a day or so later when you are about to forget the data, it reminds you again.
This process of reminding you just before you've forgotten causes one to increase his ability to recall it for a longer period, ultimately "installing" it into your long term memory.
Since each person is different the algorithm adjusts your review schedule based on your honest recall each time. Eventually, you will not be reminded for days, then weeks, months and so on!

Much better than Quizlet
Although Quizlet has an excellent user interface, what really matters for a language learner is what's under the hood. Supermemo's spaced repetition logarithm makes all the difference. The words I learn easily stop appearing in my daily stack so that I can focus on what doesn't stick readily.
The program works best for me with my own content uploaded to the free website account. I've used it to study Spanish, French, German, Latin and history facts.
There IS a learning curve to using the program and the developers really ought to produce some tutorials, but in this case the effort invested gives measurable results that are better than what I've experienced with any other method anywhere!

Pretty darned good
Very nice app. A few gripes, though:
1. The stats are a little hard to figure out. I wish they were explained better.
2. The audio "play" buttons ( in German courses at least) are way too tiny. There's real estate to make them bigger, so why make them so hard to hit.
3. I know you can make your own courses and that is great, but takes time. I love the German course content and sure wish there was something similar for Latin. Really? No Latin? Come'on add Latin please.
4. There seems to be no way to submit suggestions for corrections. There is simply TREMENDOUS content in the German courses, but I have found a few translation errors. I tried submitting these to their website (with difficulty... They have several), but I never got a reply and no correction was ever made.
5. In the German courses at least, the stupid background artwork (totally useless) only makes reading the example text very difficult. Please provide an option to disable the pointless pictures.

Used this app to prepare for the bar exam
What a great way to study. I could easily create the flash cards with pertinent information, and the algorithm would load up the set of cards I needed to see each day. I felt like I was able to cover all the material in an efficient way. Now that the bar exam is over, I have not stopped using this. It helps me with work, scripture study, and all other information I would like to commit to memory for the long term.
It allows you to export the flash cards and back them up. This is easily my most used app.

Best thing since sliced bread
anything to force me to learn stuff tha makes me sleepy is good i make my own flash cards to record technical notes.
Couple bugs:
Some times there is a lag btw writing in a field and being able to save.
Don't think you can change the learning schedule easily.
But the make your own ?'s about your reading is 10% slower than notes but 100% effective. (haven't used the paid plug-in's yet but probably will give those a shot later.)
