"We created the museum to teach people about the history of automobiles and stimulate thinking about a prosperous future for people and cars”
Toyota Automobile Museum was established in 1989 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Toyota Motor Corporation. With about 140 vehicles from around the globe in the main building and the annex, the displays cover the history of the automobile since it first came into the world.
In order to bring everyone closer to the history of cars, the intertwining evolution of the global and Japanese automobile industries are introduced on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the main building. On the 3rd floor in particular, the exhibition focuses on the evolution and diversification of postwar motorization in Japan, America, and Europe, offering visitors an overview of the development of vehicles and the mutual relationships between Japan, America and Europe from the birth of the automobile to today.
