Description

TC-Stats is a complete data analysis application for the iPad. The application performs the following functions: Summary Statistics, Histograms, Box-and-Whisker Plot, Normal Probability Plot, Scatter Plot, Frequency Distribution Table, Probability calculations based on the binomial, standard and non-standard normal, t, f and chi-squared distributions, one and two sample hypothesis tests based on the t and standard normal distributions, sign test, Wilkcoxon Rank-Sum, F-test, odds ratio, confidence intervals, one-way anova, Kruskal-Wallis test, chi-squared test of independence and goodness-of-fit, sample size calculations for inferences regarding a population mean or proportion.

TC-Stats imports data files in csv format and has Dropbox support and supports both stacked, and unstacked data for most techniques.

Fixed: App would crash when using X^2 Goodness of Fit and saving the expected values to a new column.
Fixed: F-Test data labels would not change when switching to stacked data.

X^2 Test of Independence:
Editing any of the values, row headers, or column headers of the input values creates a new copy of the values and deselects the current variables. Added a button to save the input value matrix as a CSV file.
Leaving the screen or selecting variables now warns the user that unsaved changes to the modified matrix will be lost and confirms that they want to continue with what they were doing.
1.2.2
2013-05-05
Fixed bug where some tables were only partially exported.
Fixed bug where Frequency Distribution Table was often exporting as sold black image.
1.2.1
2013-02-13
Minor bug fixes.
1.2
2013-01-19
Modified the Add Row button so that more than one row can be specified to add to the dataset.
A new dataset set can now be created from the set of rows highlighted by filters.
Text fields in Normal Distribution, One Sample Z-Test (Means), and Two Sample Z-Test (means) are now able to parse basic arithmetic and functions.
Added a calculator widget.
Added options for specifying the colors to use for histograms and box-whisker plots with an additional option for cycling through different colors.
Summary stats now works with stacked data.
Done key on the on-screen keyboard now adds rows when using the Add Rows user interface.
Text inside the row header index now automatically adjusts the font size to fit inside the space allotted.
Added column editing options for auto-fitting a column to fit all it's data and for auto-fitting all columns.
Fixed: Popover UIs displayed while in edit mode would still be visible when canceling edit mode.
1.1
2012-07-20
Added export routines for Histogram, Normal Plot, and Scatter Plot.
Editor now recognizes scientific notation with a + symbol after the 'e'.
Mathematical symbols are now used for setting the hypothesis test parameter.
The confidence interval display now includes the confidence level.
Fixed: The p-value that Pearson's and Spearman's were reporting was using the wrong degrees of freedom
Fixed: The measurement scales for a newly created data file sometimes would not be saved.
Fixed: The measurement scales of the current data set would not be cleared out if a new data set was created.
Levels within the selected groups for X^2 Test of Independence can now be specified.
Added more export options for:
- all the one sample methods
- two sample t
- two sample z (means and probabilities)
- wilcoxon rank-sum
- the probability distributions
- X^2 Test of Independence output

sweetg31GRN,
App not supported
It doesn’t give instruction how to perform so i waste my money even professor didn't help much on this application even he recommended for his students.
ALISAa.,
Well organized and easy to use
Thank you for developing this app, was definitely a great help in my stats class.
TrainerMomof3,
No directions?
The description mentions how complete the app is. You don't realize until you download it that there is no info on how to use the app. No, you discover that you must also buy the user manual separately. The app isn't complete.

I suspect math people wouldn't need the manual -- but I do, and I don't appreciate being "ambushed."
TC Stats Review,
TC Stats - Yay!
I am an English major, so I have no inclination towards math WHATSOEVER, and I like it that way. But I had to take Statistics for my Gen Eds, and this app is SO helpful with my homework. If you go through the manual (or watch the videos) and take your time, this is perhaps the gateway to an easier understanding (or at least completion) of almost any statistical problem your professors and/or your bosses can throw your way.
I am completely serious here, I have no idea how to work a graphing calculator, and I probably never will. But this app does all of the more complex functions of a graphing calculator (and, frankly, you can download a regular calculator off of iTunes anyways) in a much simpler manner. I recommend it for anyone, whether they be math-inclined or math-loathing such as me.
zbobicedtea,
Outstanding Statistics App!
If stats is your thing, I would HIGHLY recommend that you download TC Stats at this very moment! Easy to use, quick to learn, and very in-depth; what more could you ask for in an app? Buy TC Stats now, and you won't be disappointed!
The Fish That Got Away,
Nice App!!
This stats app is great for classroom use. It is also useful for any quick descriptive stats you may need. Graphing functions are quite nice. I also like the multiple export formats. Definitely worth the buy.
Ajzepeda,
VERY HELPFUL APP!
All college students taking statistics..must get this App!!
It saves you time calculating..and instead you are able to understand what your results really mean. I love this app and really recommend it!!
DavidisHere,
Great App for tracking stats!
An amazing app that does everything it is supposed to do. Very clean and easy to use interface. Download it now, you won't be disappointed.
JordonLeigh,
Good App!!
This app is so helpful compared to the TI-83. The graphing calculator seems extremely time-consuming after having experience with the tc-stats app.
rdj999,
Can handle and filter larger at a sets (~10,000 multivariate observations)
This is the best app I've found so far, with Data Explorer as runner-up, to analyze large sets of data.

I run simulated loads against web servers and collect request response times (that is, how long it takes to "load" web pages). This typically requires analyzing data sets with 10,000 observations and around 10 categories (each category being the response times for different pages) and various load levels (the number of simultaneous users).

What sets this app apart is that I can set up filters for the data – looking at just one type of transaction or response times over or under a selected value – and get graphs or statistics on just the filtered data. Data Explorer has similar filters, but it seems to always include the entire data set in calculations and graphs. Unlike TC-Stats, though, Data Explorer will give me nice box-and-whisker plots showing response times for each transaction type (category) separately on the same graph, while TC-Stats can only show one at a tie, using filters.

Data Explorer's ANOVA is also much more useful (for my relatively simple needs) than TC-Stat's, but in general, most things that both apps do, TC-Stats seems much more sophisticated with many more options. And TC-Stats can synch all of your work with Dropbox which is wonderful!

TC-Stats is also much slower (which is okay – it's an iPad!) and has a klunkier interface, but the daa filtering makes it worth it. (I have also tried Stats Pad and StatViz for this, and they don't measure up for what I do.)

I do wish TC-Stats would label its graphs with the variables it's showing and include a summary of the selected options and the filter in effect at the time the test or graph are produced. The only way can find to include these at runtime is to email a result (e.g. to Evernote) and type in this info myself.

For now, though, TC-Stats has a slight edge over all the others for my needs, and it is really cool to be able to do some fairly substantial initial data analyses right on a handheld computer!
