Crosputni,
App crashes with every click
Forcing people to use an app that doesn’t work is poor UX and poor customer service. I can see available interview spots but I can’t click on any to schedule because the app crashes and makes me go back through the login, only to crash again when I click an item. Not everyone has a laptop with them when they get an interview invite email. With how fast these interview spots go, you really should test your app to make sure it works, and if you’re not going to do that, at least offer a backup option for your customers to use the mobile website.

Schedule view
Being unable to view my schedule on the app and then not being able to access the site via phone web browser seems like an oversight of one of the main features/needs of users.

Forcing app download on mobile
I don’t care if the website is “not optimized”for phones, give me the choice to use it and not download your bloated crap apps to schedule a single appointment. I think my HD phone screen can manage your website just fine.
facukty,
Useless
Faculty can’t use this to review an applicant’s file prior to an interview. Can’t access the website on safari either.
Ludicrous4sure,
One word describes this app perfectly.
Useless.
GretchenWeinersToasterStrudel,
Does not work
If you’re going to force people to use an app, make sure it actually works. Based off of reviews, if appears also though the app stopped working five years ago. You all have to fix this.

As for the website, Thalamus has so much potential to be user-friendly. Those who created Thalamus had a great idea, and the website itself appears to be nicely organized, but the content seems to have been designed by someone who has no idea what would be considered “user friendly” in terms of residency. The things we don’t need are the most accessible.

Why can’t Thalamus create, now here me out, a button that simply says “accept” right next to the already-existing button that says “decline?” Let me rephrase that: what buffoon thought it was a good idea to ensure it was easy to accidentally decline a potentially life-changing invitation (as if “decline” is even a realistic choice for most students to begin with) while also making sure they have to go out of their way google how to accept an offer while time is running out? It’s as if you all are purposely trolling us at this point. Just have a button that says “accept” and takes you to available calendar dates. That’s it. Stop over complicating this.
cinderstina,
App glitches on Day 1
Thalamus seems like a logical middle man in the business scams that are residency interviews. It’s not enough for us applicants to clamor for overbooked spots, now we have to go through these third party schedulers and leave our futures to the tech industry to get their act together. As soon as I opened the app and made an account, any attempt to click on an interview date or swipe tabs causes the login screen to pop up and load repeatedly on a loop. The only way to stop this glitch is to close the app and open it again, but applicants need to act quickly. Due to the ridiculously stressful process that is now made even more inequitable by the pandemic’s effects on our failing nation, we applicants have to be ready to respond to invitations within seconds. An app that forces us to learn new tech while just trying to apply for a job is emblematic of the entire ERAS and AAMC’s approach to value money and business over medical students.
Skurf12,
Terribly glitchy
As other users have experienced, I also get stuck in the endless logging in loop that doesn’t allow you to actually do anything in the app. Disabling FaceID on login seems to help some, but it’s still incredibly frustrating. Navigation in the app isn’t very smooth either; you can filter by program but the default view should only show dates with availability so you don’t have to scroll through tens of filled interview dates to find ones that are still open. Also incredibly frustrating that you can’t use thalamus on the browser on your phone, which means you’re stuck with the miserable app experience if you aren’t at your computer when you get an interview invite.
Escapone,
Doesn’t Work
Thalamus is being used to schedule residency interviews for medical students. Students often need to respond promptly to interview invites because spots fill up quickly. The app does not work on my phone. It will not load any interviews. The web browser version cannot be used on a phone as it forces you to download the app. This means I have to get to a computer every time I want to schedule an interview... not quick or efficient. Thalamus customer support says “the app doesn’t work on some phones”. Then at least make the web browser option compatible with everyone’s phone! Bad service and product.
Once_In_A_Lifetime,
Makes interviewing easier
Easy to use. Can sign up immediately after receiving email. Can see calendar of all dates. Sign up for the wait list. Be notified right away if a date opens up. And get a confirmation immediately. Much much better than trying to call a program (good luck if its they're in another time zone), worry if someone else called before you, and sound polite while bringing up your own calendar so you don't double schedule. Much appreciated!
