Reviews are in, and people say that The Dungeon rocks!

Game on Mac says: ". . .out of every roguelike I've played (and I've played many), this is the one I keep coming back to."
NoDPad says: "The Dungeon is perfect for quick forays, and a great semi-traditional roguelike for when you have a little time to kill."

Choose your Adventurer!
Knight: Knows armor, and takes a beating like nobody's business.
Fighter: Great at putting the hurt on fools, and really knows his weapons.
Wizard: Rocks out with super rad wands, and loves him some magics.
Sage: He actually knows how to read! Wow! Sadly, scrolls are his only friends. :(
Alchemist: Master of potions, and not a bad cook, either.
Jeweler: A delicate man, able to identify powerful rings and artifacts.
Jones: His bravery outweighs his skill. He might be a bit crazy.

Features
* Seven classes, all with their own individual strengths and weaknesses.
* Oodles and oodles of monsters ripe for the slaying.
* More treasure than you can shake a wand at! Two wands won’t even get the job done. This is a three-wand kind of deal.
* Forty levels of adventuring fun. Fun! You can’t beat that!
* Sling spells, wield weapons, quaff potions, eat food, and vanquish monsters!
* High scores, both local and Game Center!
* Play your own music, and mute the game's audio!

*jonno,
Almost as good as the original
Really enjoy this game. I agree with earlier review regarding how hard it is to find food. You go through it way too quickly. I’ve literally died of starvation within sight of the exit.

It would also be nice to make the levels progressively narrower as you get deeper, like the original. And bring back the digging wand!
Cappiam,
Decent remake
I doubt many realize this, but this game is a remake of an old classic from 1985, Dungeons of Doom( later renamed to the Dungeon Revealed). It seems fairly true to the original though I haven't played through it enough to know how close it is beyond characters and story.

Still as a stand alone game it's decent and worth support, though time will tell if gets love with updates like other games on here.
Kennfusion,
Not Ready for Prime Time
This game appears to be released before many of the planned features are in. On Touch Arcade the dev has stated that he plans a lot of further development. But for now, this is bare bones, no options (literally no options, as in no options like turning off sound) game.

If you like Rogue/Hack type games, there are better options at this point for the price. That said, this is not a bad game, just a game that should not have been released yet. It still needs play testing and balancing. So it might be worth the $2.99 some day. But clearly this seems like a case where a developer released a game early, hoping to get some interest first in order to justify spending more time on it and completing his work. Bad business.
Pheener,
Superb Reimagining!
This is a spectacular version of a little-known roguelike that I played growing up, on an old Mac SE. At the ripe old age of 6, I decided that any game that doesn't let you know what scrolls and potions do before you read/quaff was ridiculous, so I never pumped much time into it, but now I have an opportunity to play it all over again, and with great graphics and control. A must-play for classic Mac or PC gamers!
Akrakauer,
Great *FAST* roguelike
This game is strongly based on an old game called Dungeon of Doom. This was the first computer game I ever played with a mouse (mid-80's, one of the first b&w macs), and recently I was hoping to find a modern port. This implementation is very good- a quick fun game that you can pick up for any length of time and not have to worry about a ton of commands. It's no nethack, but that is a good thing for a game on your phone. Looking forward to more improvements in future updates.
Ctawater,
Great New Roguelike
The retro graphics, humor, and speed make this a great on the go rougelike. The addition of Game Center leaderboards makes you keep coming back to beat everyone's score. The dev has lived up to his promises and added different difficulties, more enemies, and squashed the bugs. This is a solid game that all Roguelike fans should check out.
chachyphone,
Fantastic for "dungeon of doom" fans!
I love this game - if you were a fan of the old Mac game The Dungeon of Doom (later The Dungeon Revealed) then this game will go down real smooth. All the creatures, wands, potions, weapons, and scrolls you remember. Re: the bug another reviewer mentioned, I'm pretty sure that's just if you quaff a floating potion - you can't pick up stuff for a while because you can't reach the ground.
lilredsmerkin,
Fantastic! (but bugs)
THIS is the classic dungeon crawler. Deep enough to be interesting, but simple enough to make a good phone game. Music isn't distracting, graphics are functional (I'd love to see this in b&w!). Gameplay is absolutely great. An ideal balance.

There is some kind of bug that causes random "deaths", which is a big problem, but assuming that gets fixed this game is great.
SVUknightz,
The Dungeon of Doom for Mac is back
THANK YOU for the time and effort to bring back one of my favorite games on an old Mac SE. (which I still have but it's dead now). I would give this fun little app five stars, but it only goes to level 20 in order to win. But why?
Please update it and give us the full 40 levels like the original. AND please don't scrimp on the food rations. That is an unnecessary pain in the neck. Again thank you for the memories.

Since the editors note I have a raised my rating to five stars!
My only problem now is that I can never find enough food to finish the game. Never.
Please offer help with this!!!
Rudyni,
Love it.
Addicting roguelike, just wish you could add a wait button of some kind to help with my strategy. Just used to having a wait button in roguelikes I play I guess. Little more challenging without it. Still have to give ya 5 stars though.
