The new app is fully functional! So much better than the previous one! They did a first-rate update from top to bottom!

The app works fine as does the website and most links. Articles are super helpful and tailored to learning about a variety of European countries. My family used the info for a longer trip to Switzerland and Austria and the content was timely and informative. The staff promptly returned my inquiries and I just extended my subscription to a year as we coordinate more travels to these countries.

I thought a news app would be the most compatible app on any apple device because it is just simply reading digital articles, kinda what an IPad was made for… The second I downloaded and opened it on my iPad I deleted it immediately after. I would be happy to see the local on Apple News or a better digital news service. I additionally would be much more inclined to purchase Apple news subscription to read the local. I see the headlines of the articles and want to read them so bad, but then a paywall comes up. So I was about to cave in and pay but again the IPad app was not formatted for an iPad so I gave up.

Looking forward to the local being on Apple News.

I have just been using just the web browser for the Local which now has this ridiculous loop of logging me out. Whenever I try to read an article, I get a pop-up that requires me to login so I click for it to send myself an email link to login and the process just repeats over and over again and I can’t read any articles even though it says I am logged in! So I downloaded the app thinking maybe that would help the situation but it’s the same problem! Until this is fixed, I am canceling my subscription.

Nicely working app, but no way to search for articles. It's organized by country, which is good; however, the home page shows mostly the worst death(s) of the day for each, or something related to terrorism or fears of Muslims. For a reader looking to get to know news of daily life in each region, it's sadly not very interesting in its present format. In fact, it puts you off. I hope the programmers will mix things up a bit in the future, or create the ability to select categories that the reader can choose to see.

Great resource for local news in English. Just moved to Sweden, haven't mastered the language yet so this app is a valuable little helper. They must have fixed the app, the other reviews say the app doesn't work, works perfectly for me. Nice mix of entertaining and useful content. Thanks!

If you want to subscribe and read this it has to be from your computer. Also, the news doesn’t change very often. I think they are having growing pains. I wrote and received automatic responses with dead links. Very frustrating. Paige finally wrote and offered a refund.

The same thing happens with my subscription. The never ending sign in loop on the phone and the apologetic emails with dead links and finally Paige writing to offer a refund. I didn’t want a refund, I want to support this really great idea.
Now I’ll try reading from my computer.

I agree with the other user- great content if you can get it- but I almost never can… it continually logs you out and then tries to sell you a subscription-which you have already paid for!

I have contacted the helpdesk twice and they do not even respond. Why don’t they cancel their IT guys and get someone who can do the job? This is not a small paper. I have several new subscriptions and I never had this problem with any of them. Very disappointing as I will be canceling my subscription as well.

I believe that The Local must spend all of their money on reporting the news and none of their money on their app. It functions only as a web browser. No saving of stories. No search function. You are better off using your mobile browser-even with a paid subscription. Don’t bother with this app.

For at least a year now the app has had a “Sign Out” banner (why is this at the top of the main screen? it’s already available from the menu button) that is blocking the link to display more articles beyond just those on the main screen. It’s not possible to view any articles beyond the 6 - 8 on the main screen.
