JJenkins47,
True vision of an outstanding championship
I’m very impressed with this incredibly simple but rich app. The graphics are clear and sharp. The navigation is easy. The information, overall, is concise and obviously not written by some marketing-hacker. The crowing feature of the app is the well-designed Course Guide which (at least prior to the start of the Championship) provides a beautiful interface for browsing the details of every hole on the Dunluce Links. I can’t wait to see it in action once the event begins in earnest! Great job! This is by far the best dedicated Major event app.

"The Open one of a true Golfer's Dreams"
All who play the game have a deep respect for The Open,* its long history, and it's' mental challenge, it is just GOLF - at its best...!

*Golfers have been blessed with so many wonderful courses world-wide to play. Many in different capacities have invested, designed, built, maintained, and repaired courses giving golfers memories not forgotten of: wins, losses, matches, putts made and missed, miraculous shots, chokes, partners, friendships, scenery, trips, legendary courses, contributed to building Character and Memories for ever. a Brown brother golfer

Best Coverage of any Major!
From the brilliantly planned and executed comms team, to the comprehensive resources and options to explore….. this app and production team should win an award. It is by far, the best coverage of any major championship. They use humor, analysis, play-by-play cheeky descriptions and connect directly with the audience through email, tweets etc on air. The Masters should take not about the accessibility and modern touch this championship takes!
E.Tres.,
World class coverage and honor of the game of golf!
The professionalism exhibited by The Open and the time-honoring way they treat history is amazing. From videos, podcasts, segments, chronicles….ALL of it is done first class. Rolex and The Open Championship make for the ultimate partnership, hopefully, this will continue long into the future. Thank you. You made my life richer and the great game of golf showcased for the world to see! Well done!
L.F.G.!!!,
Thank you
I don’t want to update my phone and I was not able to watch them all three majors as year because I can’t watch it unless the app is able to work with my phone. Thank you so much for allowing those of us who don’t have the proper technology to still enjoy the golf.

No shot tracers or video replay of highlights
This app is good when your favorite players are in the featured groups. But at the very minimum it should have a shot tracer for every player on each hole so you can see where they are off the tee and on the green on each hole rather than just waiting for a score to update. What’s more, you cannot rewatch featured group or featured holes for any round. That should be a very basic add. The Open should look at what the Masters app has done and implement some of the more user friendly features.
flexx09876,
Waste of time
You can’t even watch the round back after it has been aired which is trash the reason probably why most people got the app sorry I have work when the round is on and you idiots want to monopolize the viewer ship to when you have it on live it seems ridiculous any way you can’t link a play back considering it’s already aired this app is a waste of space on your phone and you can check scores on google thank you for nothing.
BruiceJuice,
Where are the stats??!
Ok unless I’m a complete moron, I don’t see any statistics (fairways hit, greens in regulation, driving distance, strokes gained etc etc) in the app! How do you have a golf app and not have those?? The great Masters app has that info, the US Open app does as well. Cmon British Open, step up with the big boys. The PGA app is a mess right now, very slow and also doesn’t have that info (usually does), so I was banking on this app. Bad idea. 1 star as of now, I’ll amend my rating if you somehow come up with the stats.
IanCuevas6,
What makes this app special?
This and the PGA Championship are the only major golf tournament apps that don’t do some sort of shot tracking. And since it’s a major, the PGA TOUR app isn’t allowed to shot track because of certain rights I assume. With that being said, it doesn’t need to be a 3D version like the PGA TOUR app but at least tracking the shots on a page for players would be useful since most of us work and can’t watch live coverage of our favorite golfers in an exciting major tournament.
Brian Yunker,
Weird design
I assume you have all players in the field with an easy to read bio. I just couldn’t find it after looking for 2 minutes. Look at Masters app for how to do a clean, simple golf app. Too many stories and fluff. Can’t even find a course tour. It wants to show what happened 30 years ago, and has stories about Old Tom Morris. Fine content but it has to be in addition to and not in place of player listings with bios as well as simple hole descriptions.
