number 1 reader,
Palm Beach Post / a must read
My day begins with a cup of coffee and the Palm Beach Post. I love to read the paper as a way to start the day. It keeps me informed about my community and the world. My only problem is the cost of the print home delivery, it has gotten too expensive for me. So I’ve switched to reading the electronic version. The electronic edition is good but you can’t beat holding the paper in your hands to read it.
Bill2go,
Absolutely horrible!
Even with a paid subscription, this app is inundated with invasive, annoying, advertisements continuously popping up each time you open it. I thought if I paid for a subscription, the advertisements would go away. Nope. Even on every individual article you click on, you are bombarded with annoying pop-ups which are either more advertisements, or a question about the app’s content. Instead of having a page with a simple list of headings I can click on, to choose which articles I wish to view, there’s always some invasive pop-up steering you towards what the PB Post wants you to view. I accidentally clicked on the live feed icon and video started playing immediately. It was loud and disruptive, since I was in an office environment, and the worst part is that the video wasn’t news. It was another advertisement, a typical television commercial. There was no way to stop the video. I ended up having to force close the app. The app’s entire UI is sloppy, cluttered and disorganized. I don’t recommend this app. It’s more annoying, than informative. There are much better, more informative local news apps out there for free.
lLazyland,
Where is Local? What is the date line?
My family has subscribed since 1972 and I’m afraid this is going to be the end, with this app revision. The last version had many of the roads are virtues of the old actual paper, the chief being I knew which addition something was in I could go between additions and I could figure out what period of time I was reading news about. This is a mishmash that I can find on the Internet. I have yet to find the letters page. I also don’t think I’m an old guy in my 50s but probably a.m. I hope the younger people like this because I’d hate to see the post disappear but I have to say one of the most important features was your inputAnd coverage on local issues. If all I need to see is stuff on South Florida in general well then you are dead.
Donnialda,
Bland app, no digital access
This app does what apps are supposed to do and does it well. Navigation is easy.

That said, it is merely Average and offers no perks, bells, whistles, or access to anything else that draw me to open it first.

Due to this newspaper’s dependency on that “small city appeal,” it took me three months to finally PURCHASE a subscription. This is because this app is not connected to _anything else where a pay feature is already connected. I had to actually find time to sit down, locate my physical credit card, and enter everything by hand like it is 2003.

This app does not offer a digitial version of the print version. As the app does not cover all Sections, that’s a disconnect.
MorningReader56,
Worst ePaper reader
I have used the Palm Beach Post ePaper for several years and was fairly happy with it. A few days ago it stopped working. I uninstalled it and was looking to re-install when I noticed that it was no longer available in the Appstore. There was only this App. So I installed this App instead. Wow, what a difference. And not in a good way. Sign-in problems, unwanted adds popping up, screens freezing, horrible navigation. Who thought it was a good idea to replace a well functioning App with this inferior product that seems like a first attempt at an eReader?
I like the Palm Beach Post, but not with this App. It’s not the way I want to start my day.
JB Disney Fan,
Recent changes make digital edition difficult to read
After several days of not being able to access the digital edition, I deleted and reinstalled the app. This new version is very disappointing. The page is extremely sensitive and zooms to an extremely large size with the slightest touch. If there are page settings, I can’t find them. For example, being able to view the full page on the screen. Touching the screen to see what’s on the bottom causes the zoom. Just trying to expand the screen to make it easier to read also causes the zoom.
LPS13245,
New version is a disaster
This update makes viewing the e-edition very annoying because the stories and ads are always opening up when I don’t want them to and I’m constantly having to close them. I used to be able to increase/decrease the size of each page with no problem, and the story opened on a different page only when I asked it to. Now, the slightest touch of anything opens it up. If The Post doesn’t want to do an e-edition that looks like the paper does/did, then change it. Don’t offer it with useless navigation. I prefer the “paper” look, but only if it works.
e095011,
Much worse than previous app
This app is much worse than the previous, blue icon app which let you read a digitized version of the daily newspaper. It has too many menu bars which take up screen space. It has pop-up ads that were not in the older app. It is harder to navigate through the news content when changing sections. The app glitches when pinching text to zoom. You can’t display any comics in landscape mode and comic text is not sharp when zooming up like in the old app.
A major step backward in ease of use and functionality is why this only deserves one star.
carydebra,
Worse App EVER
I am using the e-edition. I have now used this app for two days and I think I will have to delete it. It is incredibly frustrating, slow response or no response times. Way too many pop ups. Remembering this is a paid subscription, there should be no pop ups that block or restrict content. When scrolling to the bottom of the page anything you touch causes the article to open. Then you have to close the article to read the rest of the page. What were they thinking?
mmpbg,
I would give ZERO stars if possible!
The old app quit working forcing me to download the new app. It is VERY unstable. The worst app to date. Why do you keep “updating” the app when the old (blue icon) one was working just fine? Also, a heads up to your subscribers would have been a good idea. I believe this change was unnecessary and very poorly planned. Did anyone test it before putting it out? I doubt it. Ridiculous! You want to phase out home delivery and put out this junk?
