Hello Witchers!

As part of a new update we are introducing several vital improvements.

We introduced new items – scrolls with spells enhancing particular parameters. One contains a spell that temporarily adds extra experience points, the other temporarily increases the number of gained alchemy resources when you defeat a monster or gather herbs.

We added tabs to the in-game store so that all items are easy to find and available at all times.

Rewards for reaching levels 30 to 40 have been fixed and are now assigned correctly.

Some skill levels have changed. Because of this, your skills will be reset and you’ll be able to redistribute them again.

We also fixed issues with connectivity on mobile data, and introduced other minor bug fixes including our latest 0.9.2 hotfix, which resolves the listed issues:

Missing notification, while geolocation is unavailable;
Disappearing herbs after fighting the monster;
Basic oil counted for a experience buff "use of proper oil"

Thanks for your feedback and support.
Good hunting and see you on the trail!

XP-Sprecken,
Fun, Creative, and Extremely Addicting
The Witcher: Monster Slayer is an extremely well made mobile game using the Witcher universe and Pokémon-Go style gameplay. Players, like me, who loved hunting monsters in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will have a blast playing this game. Players have access to potion, bombs, and oil crafting, skills and upgrades, and a simple yet rewarding RPG system that all flows well into the combat. In combat, you can use Signs(Igni, Aard, Yrden, Quen, and Axii) by drawing their actual symbols in-game to use them against monsters. You can also use potions, bombs, and oils to further enhance your overall stats in battle. Instead of catching monsters, such as other Pokémon Go style games, you get trophies from monsters that you get to showcase in your collections. Monsters come in three rarities and come with a set of difficulties that require a normal level of grind to be able to fight them. I haven’t done much of the story yet but what I’ve done so far has been fun. The writing is well done and adds very simple dialogue choices that helps the story flow better.
Sleets93,
Love/Hate new update
Absolutely love everything Witcher, and the game was the same but I must say the new update has me loving some features and hating others. The new alchemy system for example is awesome, as well as getting coins for defeating monsters over time. However, the new progression system is a little frustrating. I liked being able to put my skill points where I wanted them, and being able to design around my play style. Another thing is the store. I love being able to sell my unwanted ingredients now, but how am I supposed to get any new gear? You must use gems, which you rarely get or you must pay real money for. I absolutely HATE games where you can buy your way to the top or to win, you should be able to buy better gear via gold (in game currency). The monsters are also much harder now and almost every monster requires use of alchemy, which I understand but it also deters me from playing sometimes. Sometimes I just want to hop on the game real quick and kill some easy monsters because I have a little bit of free time, but now I basically have to be fully invested and commit many forms of oils and buffs just to beat a monster or 2. Sometimes I believe less is more, make the game simpler yet challenging. That’s my opinion anyways. Overall good game, but the new changes on getting new gear, skills system, and major reliance on oils needs adjusted. I enjoyed the game because it was the intense and interesting Witcher world, yet fun and simple.
Supafly duuuuude,
Monster Hunter? Not really…
Imagine being a monster hunter without a silver sword (a sword specifically designed to fight monsters). That’s your character in this game. For some reason the game starts you off with 2 steel swords in your inventory instead of 1 steel and 1 silver like every witcher should have. On top of that gathering crafting materials is an absolute pain. You get monster mats pretty quickly but you need a “bundle of herbs” to actually craft potions, bombs, and oils. To my knowledge, bundles of herbs don’t drop from monsters but need to be scavenged from randomly (and very rare) generated locations in the world. Talk about a progression roadblock. You also get bundles of supplies that you can’t open yourself, you can only donate them to people on your friends list. Yes, you read that right, you get items that you, yourself, cannot use but must be gifted away….

Also, it appears that the 4th story quest is bugged and never shows up on your map. I reached out to the devs about this but have yet to receive a response.

The reason this has 3 stars and not 1 is because I actually do enjoy the RPG mechanics in a game. It makes it more enjoyable than Pokémon Go because the combat is more engaging and there is actually a quest system (albeit a bugged one) with skill points. The core systems are solid but it just needs some refining to make it feel more like a game and less like a freemium mobile game.
Teena Elegante,
Auto closes a bunch
Even after the major update with the timed tasks, the app auto closes randomly a lot. Also the update now has you double tap when potions/oil/bombs are completed. You used to just click “claim” and it was added to inventory. Now you click “claim” then the screen goes black with the item in the middle of the screen like you won some grand prize and have to click the screen again otherwise it just sits there… waiting… go back to the single click claim. I’m not a fan of changing the app’s clock to differ from real-world time. I liked that it used to be day in the app when it was day IRL and night for night. I could predict better when nocturnal monsters would come out… I only realized the night/day was off when it started placing Cat potion in the auto selection. The timed tasks are really great and it way better to get gold since there wasn’t really a way to get it before without being forced to buy (I did and it made the game waaaaaaaaaay easier and I leveled up to 23 in a matter of couple weeks) so now that there’s a chance to purchase weapons/armor upgrades you may get more of the casual user playing. Otherwise it’s great to have more tasks and I look forward to more quests. And overall a fun game!
makakles,
Its great!:)Cant wait for future updates!
I adore The Witcher and me and my boyfriend have been waiting for this game for months! The game is really fun and takes practice which is good! Its not overly easy and takes time to learn how to parry, and kill the monsters. Theres quite a variety of monsters too and I love how they have all the oils and potions!! With that being said I think there needs to be a little more stuff! I think it would be cool if monsters appeared like in your little circle and not all across the screen? I think it would make it a little more adventurous and almost like they are ambushing you, or that you’re looking for them. Id also really like to customize my sword and add whatever runes I want to it and I really think we should also get a silver sword at the start of the game! We only get a steel sword and It takes a bit to get a silver one. I hope to see some cool updates and events in the future!
Nate_4492,
Maybe skip this one
The game started off fantastic. More than just a pokemon go clone it had a little more to offer in its own way. The play was great, graphics were good, creature design was wonderful, the mechanics were a bit tricky to learn but did require the player to learn and develop skills and learn the game. The game in its current state however, leaves much to be desired. Certain crafting items are gone, the currency of course went the way of all other “frenium” games to include so many micro transactions and wallet openings you could choke a rock troll. The smell of desperate cash grab the game reeks of now would make a al-ghoul gag. The game is still… mostly playable. But all the charm and fun has been sucked from it to the point that I don’t have any desire to really do much.
The developers really shot the game in the back of the head. Skip the foot or arm they went for the kill shot execution style. Im sorry to say but my rating of it has dramatically dropped from five out of five must play for Witcher fans longing to continue their path to 1(only because I can’t put zero). Grossly disappointed in this game now. The majority of the player base has fallen off and so too will the game in a short time. But hey, it was really great while it lasted…
jdm2528,
Grind, grind, and more grind☹️
I like a good grind as much as the next want to be Witcher but this game is too much. Like the other reviews mention, I get that you want people to spend money…that’s how you make money with these apps but the way this is setup it’s going to make people quit playing completely instead of spending a few bucks. I know that’s where I am leaning and I really think this could be a great game. Couple of quick suggestions:
1) perfect parry should cause little to no damage. That’s the whole point of getting better with combat. Right now three hits from a medium monster kills you meanwhile the easy monsters are ridiculously easy. Too much disparity.
2) put vendors in the map that you can sell your extra items to. The cost of equipment is entirely too high and I’m not spending hundreds of dollars for a game. Be reasonable…not greedy. Keeping people playing for the longest amount of time is the goal…not trying to make a quick buck.
3) you should be able to craft weapons and armor just like in the game with the vendors on the map.
GamblingInferno,
Fun for a few days
Pros: Excellent quest system and storyline. Great narration. Fun to find new quests.

Cons: Gets boring real quick. It’s completely focused on fighting creatures, which is fine except that most of the creatures are much higher level and very difficult to defeat. If you dare to try fighting one you will use a large number of items on it, and since items can be difficult to replace you hit the pay wall real quick.

Also, other AR games usually have points of interest to hit, but I haven’t seen anything like that here. It would be nice if you could walk around and go to taverns or something to collect some items and quests, but alas there isn’t anything like that.

One last point to mention is the lack of additional game modes that allow you to play even when you can’t explore. If you can’t get out and walk around, there really isn’t anything to do in this game. A few AR games have added features such as a battle system where you can battle in your off time. No such luck here. If the area of interaction was wider it would be a little easier, but unfortunately it is dreadfully small. You can increase the size of it temporarily, but you will burn through your coins very quickly and hit the paywall again.

If they added new game elements where I could play throughout the day, and if they made the map more fun to explore, I would rate it higher. It does have excellent potential though, so we’ll see what they add.
YEEEEEET!!!!! gamer,
Love it, just too many bugs
I love this game and have spent hours playing it, slaying monsters, crafting materials to help me, and locating the legendary monsters. I am a little bummed out by how long the grenades take to build and how little coins you get, but I understand the game has to make it challenging, and I’m fine with that. However, there is just too many bugs. Many, many times the app has kicked me out, making lose countless potions/oils/grenades that I spent so long making and the monster during fights. I have tried to solve this by restarting my phone and deleting and reinstalling the app MANY times, but it always kick me out after I few minutes into the game, and with the tutorial being so long before you can log into your old account, it can get very tiring to repeat this over and over. I have also lost some of my creatures from my bestiary (no clue where they went), making me have to hunt them all over again. Pretty sure I even lost some of my coins, but not by a lot though. I love this game, but the bugs kinda ruin it.
Fishb0ys,
The recent update is a disaster
I have played actively since launch last year; up until now one of the best mobile games I’d ever played. But the recent update that overhauled the alchemy and gameplay has made it nearly unplayable - it is quite literally cost prohibitive to play.

You cannot fight rares without potions, and between the cost of potion ingredients (that are no longer gather-able like they used to be) and repair cost of crafting stations it comes out to about 100 in game gold for 5 minutes of being able to fight rares. You get 10 gold for killing a rare. There are not more than a couple rares in an area at a time, and even if there were more, you cannot fight more than 6-7 due to how long a fight lasts. This means if you try to actively play this game it will now end up costing you in game currency even in the best case scenario.

I realize the intent likely IS to necessitate micro transactions but it’s just not fun for learning the moves and timing of monsters to be completely superseded by the use of potions that incur a net loss.
That plus the bestiary change which removed “completing” it, which was the only driver for engagement after doing all the quests.
Oh and it reset my xp bar which removed progress that took a couple weeks of playing multiple hours per day (1/2 level at near level cap).

The only reason this isn’t 1 star is because of the fond memories I have of the game before the update.
