Only works on iPhones with TrueDepth camera
Illusion of depth by 3D head tracking using ARKit and TrueDepth camera. For best results, only one eye should be open (the app allows selecting which eye to track, or can try to select eye automatically)
By tracking the users head orientation and position, the eye position in 3D can be found. The app can then render a correct view on the display as seen from that position. For rendering this view an off-axis projection (non-symmetric camera frustum) is used. This gives the illusion that objects appear in front of and behind the screen.

Super Cool!!!
A couple weeks ago I had some trouble getting it working on my iPhone XR but tried it again and it works great! When you close one eye it really gives the illusion of being 3D! This app is really cool to just screw around with and to show your friends.

Why doesn’t it work?!?!?? Why do I have to have iPhone 10 to do this?!?! So unfair!?!?🤮🤮🤮👎👎👎👀
To be serious though, this is a pretty cool app. While there isn’t a whole lot you can do, it is a future for 3D apps that track your eyes. Imagine the games that this could produce! And no, this app could never work on an iPhone other than an iPhone 10, or at least not nearly as good. Just move on with your day.
Don’t whine about something not meeting your expectations. It’s not perfect but it’s still amazing! Great job on making this app!

This app works as promised beautifully. I love how it works. To all the customers complaining it doesn’t work if you don’t have an iPhone X, this is true. The iPhone X and above has face tracking software that allows the app to work as intended. Without it, the app would not work. Face tracking is ESSENTIAL to this app working, so yes it is needed. You will not find a proper app that uses face tracking that does not require you to have an iPhone X or above. If you don’t have one, don’t get the app. Otherwise great app, no problems whatsoever.

Xs not recognized?
I have the iPhone XS Max, tried the app anyway, and I can tell it’s definitely working. Maybe an update will fix this. It is truly an amazing app, can’t wait to see this effect employed more in other apps! As soon as I found out about it, I wanted it! Thanks.
Addition: This tech could be employed to make some really awesome holograms as well, since the image not only has remarkable depth, but straddles beyond the perimeter of the device making it appear to come out of the screen. Thank you again for making this!

Great Tech Demo
I got this app on my Iphone X, and use it on my iPhone 12 Pro now. It is a really cool tech demo especially if you are into the tech side of 3D scanning and modeling. I recommend this if you want to share the ability and imersion the TrueDepth camera can do, general public, or developer!

Very cool effect
The app says my XS Max isn’t compatible, but the effect still seems so work. Though I’m not sure if I’m missing out on something. There’s only 5 examples, so I hope for more in the future. I think this is more of just a proof of concept. Can’t wait to see how this technology will be used...

I saw the article on this, and I downloaded it to see if it actually worked because I was a bit skeptical on whether or not the effect would be easily visible. Turns out it is. Looks really really cool, can’t wait to see what developers are able to do with this Tech.

Screen Resolution
I believe my phone can use this app, but I can’t press try anyway because it’s off the screen, so could you support the resolution of other phones?
