Description
Tinmendo allows the audience to directly participate and interact with the band Tin Men and the Telephone during live performances.
Their show is a uniquely interactive multimedia experience. The basis is and remains the musical qualities of the band with its very own sound and often experimental repertoire. Tinmendo is used to explore cutting edge avenues of music-making and performance. The audience can influence the music by directing the musicians, send messages, control visual elements such as lighting and live projections, participate in games, or even make their own musical fragments that serve as building blocks for an instant collective composition to be performed and improvised upon by the band.
With their app, Tin Men and the Telephone have found an answer to one the most important questions within the dramatic arts: how do you continue to attract new audiences, how do you involve your audience in the show and how do you make the audience enthusiastic about complex innovative art forms without making any artistic concessions?
This unique trio of improvisers from Amsterdam have not only established themselves as one of the most inventive and talented contemporary European jazz ensembles but are also breaking new ground with their specially designed App, allowing audience members to affect how the music develops as the show progresses. TMT’s performance presents everyday human experiences in surprising ways, and audience members of all ages are also encouraged to bring along their smartphones/tablets so they can play a role in making this performance unique.
