Found Bug while practicing
I love this app. It helps my daughter practice on her own and help to understand which song the teacher wants to practice right in the app. However my daughter found the bug and tricked the system. She turned the music on from teacher and at the same time hit practice. It should stop all music that is played by the app or by the phone and listening from outside sound instead but it didn’t . So basically she re-record the songs that the teacher recorded. It would be great if you can fix the problem

So many problems
I was really wanting to like this app. It’s so full of problems, and every time I contact customer support, they want me to spend 30 minutes explaining every detail of the problem to them. I’ve asked for a refund for many weeks now, and they just keep ignoring the problem and making me prove every problem. The app crashes, recordings don’t load, recordings are of bad sound quality (despite my use of a $250 Blue Yeti mic), the sound files are empty, the compare recordings frustrate students by always giving Ds or Fs, the practice time doesn’t record, and now my assignment changes aren’t saving. Literally NO feature works on this app. The problem is, I’ve got several hundred recordings in the app that I now have to download to my PC in order to quit my $25 subscription before I can quit! Oh! And the downloading to my own PC wasn’t working, so I had to beg for an in-person conversation with Tonara just to prove to them this wasn’t working. They did help me figure it out, but it took more than a month for them to give me some help. Tech support is HORRIBLE. All you can do is “text Lily,” and you get no answer to your questions/problems. After 24 hours, she answers you by asking another question. These people don’t know what they are doing. They are taking money from teachers during an already difficult time and NOT providing any of the services that are promised. And when you have a problem, they turn around and blame you for it.

Amazing!!! Game changer for piano practicing!
I have been playing piano for 6 years now. When I started, I was always motivated to practice. In the last two years or so though, I have gotten quite lazy with practicing. I never really found myself to have time or the focus. I could pick up songs very easily and I would only have to practice each song once or twice which was way under the practice time my teacher recommended. Then, my studio switched to Tonara. My opinion on practicing change completely. My teacher can assign me things to do and I can easily access it on my phone. It is very convenient that I can click on the assignment, read, and start practicing all through the app. The timer is very convenient. I like the option to record during my practice so I can show my progress to others. Can also communicate with my piano teacher through the app. And the best part… you get to earn points and compete against the other people in my studio. I can use my competitive nature to play piano. Encountered bugs in To Do list
We have been using it for over 3 months now, until recently all is fine are good. For past three weeks, the completed “to do” list continued with bugs. On the student App view the previous completed “to do” tasks assigned by teacher remained in the “ to do “ list even all days tasks have been completed. But actually on teacher’s view App only with most current week’s to do list , no expired items anymore. Now it’s 3 rd week with this bugs, even we tried log off and reinstalled the App again, the bugs still exists! We are facing a continuing growing long “ to do “ list with all expired tasks. This makes the student very inconvenient to identify the “real current and valid” to do items among all those expired items! Pls help to fix the bugs!

Multiple Student Problem
The app continuously froze when I attempted to swap between students on the same device. Many of my students are from the same household, so this is a big problem. This is the reason I discontinued the use of this with my studio. Furthermore, as a teacher with my own children who are students, the app was rendered useless when I attempted to switch back and forth. I was recommending this app to other teachers, but since my students also take other instruments from other teachers this became a problem. This needs to be more user friendly for a multiple discipline studio and a multiple student household. I would love to give it another try, but I experienced so many glitches during the trial that I just cant justify spending the money to see if the problem has been rectified.

Been using for 7 months, practicing bug still happening
Ever since the pandemic started, my piano teacher had been using this app. From the start, it seemed pretty fun; however, as time went on I noticed the amount of bugs in this app. Several were fixed after the first few months using it; however, one infuriating bug has still been going on. So almost every single week for the past 7 months I’ve had to redo an assignment because the total amount of practice days would not be counted. A big example of this happening is on day one practice; where the app shows I completed a certain assignment on the progress meter, but the total amount of practice days never goes up. I will try to write a more positive review if this big is fixed.

I don’t think I have gone a day without having some technical problems with Tonara, and I’ve been using it for a year.
1. Takes up 3 gigs of storage (how does that even happen??!) 2. Will pause when a battery notif pops up, I have lost many minutes to that. Why you may ask do I not charge my phone more often? Well it doesn’t matter because 3. Takes up a ton of battery life 4. Randomly moves my hours so it’ll combine today and yesterday’s into yesterday’s and Have none today 5. Unless you start another practice round your previous minutes aren’t tracked 7. Randomly doubles my time?? 6. WHY IS THE CHEERING SOUND SO LOUD AND WHY DOES IT GO ON FOR SO LONG
Why do I still use it? Well because my piano teacher requires it and also I think it is a great way to link the teacher and student. But please, just make it a time keeping app that doesn’t take up so much space and can keep track of the time in the background so that battery notifs don’t pause and/or so people can read music from the device while tracking at the same time

Pretty good app, worth it
Definitely a well developed app. Has a couple bugs and a couple things that I personally would like changed. Has made practicing more fun
Some things that could be improved:
-App crashes, so I lose my practice time
-If I exit the app while practicing (after I pause it) sometimes it either deletes all my time or doubles it. Kinda screws up the accuracy
-Doesn’t register a good bit of my playing, like octaves, harmonics, high register, etc. This means it doesn’t award me as many points as I should get hahah
-I would love to be able to see the exact amount of time practiced each day. The most I can get to is a weekly graph where it has really weird intervals (right now, my only two interval markers are at 1 hour 23 minutes and 2 hours 46 minutes)
If these could be fixed that would be phenomenal!! It’s really a great app and I’ve enjoyed using it. It has a lot of good features and is definitely a terrific start. Excited to see what future updates bring!

Needs Improvement
My brother and I each use this app. I play twice as much as he does, although he earns the same amount of points as I do. I found out that he earns a point for every second he plays, but I earn one point for every two seconds I play. Or even less. It is extremely unfair to know that I put so much time and effort into playing, but only get half the credit. This NEEDS to be fixed. Also, the app shouldn’t record our playing. Instead, it should just track how long we play. That way, these problems won’t occur. Although I like the idea of this app. It just needs to make a few improvements.

Really cool app! 🥳🤩
I am a student, and I used to hate practicing. But when we started tonara, it had practice timers and it listens to you play, then gives you points for playing. Then it has a leaderboard between your studio and global. The studio leaderboard was a big motivation. I could earn points easily by practicing, making it fun to see where I ranked that day. I could also talk to my teacher, and someone from tonara. The tonara helper answered my questions on the app and how to use certain parts of it. All in all, Tonara is awesome! 👏🏻🥳🤩
