LOVE this app!
I have been having SO MUCH FUN with this app since I purchased it- I can't seem to put it down!
It's intuitive, fun and easy to use.
I am giving it only 4 stars here as I wish it had a couple of features that I hope to see in a future version including the ability to load a picture that was painted and saved in the camera roll to the app WITHOUT stripping it of it's color - so that you can CONTINUE to work on it or re-adjust an element or line or color after exiting from the photo being worked on. Basically, what I'm saying is that it would be nice to be able to bypass the color stripping that occurs at the loading of the photo into the app. Also a "Favorite Color" palette would be a nice addition.
I enjoyed this app so much that I went to their website to purchase their computer software to add these Toons to some video as well on my laptop, but was sad to see that their Mac OSx version is not ready yet. Hopefully it will be out soon.
This little gem is a no brainer.... well worth it's price- just be prepared to spend many hours altering all you favorite photos!

ToonPaint App Great!
This is my first post to review an app after using about a dozen image altering apps for my itouch. This hands down is my favorite. It's speedy, the controls and colors are pretty well laid out and the final, output exceeds expectations for such a low priced application. I'm having fun just going over pictures and redoing them for family and friends. A couple of points that may be wished for on the next upgrade. the switch over from two fingers to drag and resize is a bit sensitive. sometimes when you mean to resize or move the picture if you dont get both fingers on the same time you end up drawing a line and have to reedit or undo the mistake. Also multiple undos (at least 3). The ability to move the picture border at least 1/3 into the work area so we can color the ends easier. Maybe a smudge tool for an hombre effect. Others mentioned automatically colorized when opened as well as maybe a paint bucket fill in tool. For the fun aspect I'd like to see cartoon bubbles that we could fill in the words as well as the comic book enlarged "polka dot" backgrounds that you see on fun greeting cards or Roy Lichenstein paintings.

Mostly Wonderful
I really love this app. It has been a joy of mine to rekindle my artistic side and take me back to elementary school days when coloring was a part of the homework. My only issues I have had are the following:
1. I cannot seem to get the Facebook integration to work. Every time it give me an error of some sort. More recent said something about removing an "August data" something or other and that it would expire in August 2012...which it is now clearly past.
2. This is a more recent issue. When I go to save my photo after colorizing and everything when I look at it in my photo app all the colors have shifted. It leaves my photo looking like I don't know how to stay in the lines while coloring. I never had this issue on my iPod touch 4th generation. I am using an iPhone 5 running the most current software(6.0.1).

Greatest App Ever
Out of all the apps on my iPhone (This includes LogMeIn Ignition, 5.0 Mpx Cam, Remote, and Doodle Buddy), ToonPaint is by far the most technologically groundbreaking. It's amazing how similar these look to vectors, which can take around 36 hours to make effectively. This program creates a vectorlike image in less than a minute. I've been looking for this technology for years now, and I'm very satisfied. I just hope that Toon FX releases a more innovative Mac version of this technology, possibly one for video. Their iPhone software is far more advanced than even their computer software. This one is a must buy, you will love it. I would suggest adding an undo feature, as well as recoloring pictures you've already saved. Overall, this is a great app that anyone can enjoy. 5/5 Stars

Good App, Missing Features
I was very skeptical about this app, but the results are amazing. Photos do render as you see them on the app store page. However, this app desperately needs an undo button or shake to undo feature, I find myself running the colors over others, it's really difficult to fix. The app also needs more zoom (magnification). It only provides 10X or something close to that. There are times that I wish I could color some of the smaller areas, like the eyes of the subject The app doesn't produce full resolution images, 360X480 images only.
Considering this is a 1.0 effort, it is worth the $2 asking price. This could be a 5 star product with a couple of updates. I hope the developer continues to work on this app, it's one of my favorites.

Finer than Frogs Hair
I just stumbled across this app and am I ever glad I did. I was a little bit skeptical at first since they were giving it away free, but once I used it several times, I realized that this is a keeper. I didn't have the previous versions of it so I can't compare. I can only judge it based on my personal experience. It's a breeze to use and it's so easy, a caveman could do it ;-) I'm using it on my iPad2 right now with the screen set to 2x. I can't wait till they make the iPad version. it's making me go back and look at some of my old photos to possibly save some that weren't worth using at the time. Purchasing the "auto" color option in the app for .99 is a no brainer. Well worth every penny.

Great effect, flexible with high quality output
This is fast to use and highly flexible -- it creates good effects with all kinds of photos and scenes. The ability to modify the level of cartoon effect and then save the original, black and white, and color layers separately means that you can easily try colorizing the same image several different ways if you like. Zooming is used to good effect for brush size control, and basic undo support is extremely helpful, and the color pallete is simple with a great loop selector. The result is that you can snap a photo and spend less than a minute playing with it to create a great composition.
Gotchas: The icons are a bit wacky, and coloring along edges can take a bit of practice with zooming.
