Stuck on a puzzle? Visit http://trainyard.ca/solutions where there are over *1.5 million* player-submitted solutions.

Trainyard is a puzzle solving game unlike any that you've ever played. It's easy to learn but very tough to master. Your job is simple: get each train to a goal station. Red trains go to red stations, blue trains go to blue stations, etc. You control the trains by drawing track for them to follow. There isn't a time limit or even a score; the only thing you need to do is figure out a solution for each puzzle.

The first few puzzles are almost too easy, but as the difficulty increases you'll be thankful that you were able to practice the fundamentals of drawing track. As the game progresses, you'll have to use colour theory to combine trains of different colours, use timing to merge and split trains, and use every inch of your brain in your quest to beat the game.

Lupicite,
Simply frustrating, simply wonderful
This game is extremely easy to learn and the initial tracks / puzzles are trivial. It lures you in with this simplicity. Over time as you progress from one city to the next, the puzzles increase in complexity and fun. Oh, a few of the puzzles with frustrate you and you'll put down the game... Just so you know, that is the best thing you can do. With some of the puzzles, the greatest hurdle to overcome is yourself. Stepping back and thinking about it can help more than endlessly laying track to solve the same puzzle. I have set this game down more than once and have also swore at the game (not that it ever responded or got offended). Once the frustration left me and I started to think clearly again, the solution to many of the tracks became clear. For most people, this is not a great game for plowing through all of the puzzles in a single sitting.

I "beat" the game a few minutes ago and was rewarded with more tracks (bonus levels). Between the bonus levels and the user created levels, it will be difficult for most people to run out of new levels to enjoy. I do not have a single legitimate complaint toward this game. I hope to see more tracks added to the game in the future!

tl;dr: Very fun/hard game, in doses.

Awesome Game 👍🏆👍🏆👍🏆👍
Just finished Trainyard Express this evening and although I have another great freebie game I'm playing right now............. I had to go ahead and buy the full version Trainyard!!!! It's not often I find games that get me hooked but this is one 😜that I find hard to put down!!!
I highly recommend it to puzzle lovers and everyone👍🎉🏆!!!!!!!
I am very impressed at how long I can play it without killing my phone battery!! It's very visually pleasing as well as challenging had nice audio effects to go with it!!! I can't say enough great things about this game!!!
Although I just started the full, paid version I'm already loving it and have not had one single problem with it!! I just wanted to mention that after noticing that other posters complained about it freezing etc!!
PI sure hope Matt Rix comes up with another great game to keep us busy after Trainyard.......kudos 👏🏆to you Matt and all who were involved in the creation and development of this fantastic game!!! Thank you for Trainyard❗🎈😉👌
I can count,
Fantastic game! Too bad APPLE broke it.
APPLE broke Trainyard. APPLE breaking Trainyard is one of the reasons why my new phone is NOT an iPhone. I can still play this fantastic game on my old iPhone’s small screen because I didn’t downgrade to iOS 11 (or 12) on it, but I can’t play this awesome game on my iPad anymore because I foolishly downgraded to iOS 12 (from 10) and APPLE is too incompetent to keep previous apps that ran fine running fine after the foolish owner downgrades to a new version of iOS. This has happened once too many times and I’m unlikely to ever get another APPLE computer of any type.

Still, I hope for a fix to Trainyard to work around APPLE’s incompetence, so I can play this outstanding game on my iPad again.

Previous comment:

I absolutely love this game. I have only one complaint that keeps it from being five stars: I HATE the whole "unlocked" meme that somehow got started on iPhone games. If I want to try one of the harder puzzles before solving all of the easier ones, the game shouldn't be stopping me. Right now I'm stuck on two puzzles, the only ones that are unlocked, and the game won't even let me SEE the next one until I solve BOTH of them. This dumb system is common to a lot of iPhone games, so I can't really hold it against this awesome game, but it would sure be a better game (five stars easily) without it.

I decided that's not reason enough to complain, so I upped the rating to the five stars this AWESOME game deserves.
Dude346195035,
Good Job
I hope u read this but I just wanted to give u some pointers for the next update I bought this app about 3 days after it came out I have beat the game and with the update have made some puzzles I keep checking to see if it is on the most solved or whatever page I thought it would be nice to be able to see how many views solves and fails someone has had on ur puzzle as well as being able to rate it by the description and title name also I think it would be cool to battle like have ur created puzzle battle someone else's and the first one to finish the other persons puzzle wins wins some wretches witch could go towards puzzles and/or cheats to other parts of trainyard by the way I think it is kinda dumb u cab give ur own puzzle how many wretches it is worth have other people do that through reviews I hope u enjoy the review plz look into it
chjones,
Worth the price
Trainyard is one of a very few games I've paid for on the app store; even after playing the free version, I loved it enough to want more. While most of the puzzles can be solved with a "brute force" approach until they just work, the elegance of a well-thought-out solution is very satisfying. Great for those who are (or could be) engineers, mathematicians, and computer scientists.

The only drawback I've found is that sharing on Facebook and Twitter doesn't seem to work. (Or, perhaps, they just don't work any longer, since the last update was quite some time ago.) Still, if those buttons weren't available, I wouldn't think the game had any faults; having them there simply points out that they aren't working. A small price to pay for an excellent game.
SRAlter,
Well Done!
Everything about this app is polished and well designed, like a well oiled locomotive. This reviewer found no problems whatsoever with the execution and gameplay of this app. The puzzles are always fresh and the difficulty curve is gradual yet not monotonous. It deserves the 5 star rating, and deserves to be purchased.

I love the speed-up time features when I'm feeling a bit impatient. Great job!

Two slight, minor issues: the erase and undo buttons are very close together and occasionally I will hit one when trying to hit the other. Slightly annoying, but does not warrant a loss in rating. Second, the shake to erase track feature is very sensitive, so sometimes it will pop up when I am just moving my iDevice to the other hand. Again, not a big deal at all.
XBL FragileAverage,
Best Game for iPhone? I Think So!
I've been a "gamer" for about 20 years and there are only a handful of games I could dare to call "perfect". This is one. The ONLY aspect that might not be flawless is the touch control--you will have to revise tracks frequently. But that's okay; you're not timed or limited. Also, not a problem on the iPad version with the big screen. The attention to detail is what sends this one over the top: the achievements, well-done sound, track editor, rate of unlocking new areas, perfect learning curve, inclusion of a color-blind mode; all perfectly executed. This game will make you care about the aspects that most games make you hate--toggle track switching in particular would be awful in a lesser game. You'll be a total Trainyard nerd before you know it.
whoidoc,
Best app I've found in over a year!
When I played it the whole four hours of a recent cross-country flight, I realized that this should be the first game I write a review for since my iPad purchase over a year ago. The classic games & puzzles (Rubik's cube, chess, Jenga) become gold standards because of a perfect marriage between simple rules, intuitive interfaces, infinite scenarios, and an ability to accommodate diverse skill levels. To me, this is such a puzzle...at least for the app world. The frustrations aren't demoralizing, and the successes give you such a sense of accomplishment. Plus, there are so many darned puzzles, not to mention the ability to build your own and share them once you reach a certain skill level. I've gotten my money's worth many times over on this one!
K-n-D,
A Mazing.
I can't say enough good things about Trainyard. The ultimate pick-it-up-and-put-it-down-anytime game. Whether you have 2 minutes or 2 hours, you pick right back up where you left off to lay out tracks for a new level or solve a track design that you were part way through when real life interrupted your game play.

I know; it sounds so simple. Lay down tracks to get the train (or trains) to their correct color-coded stations. And some levels were simple. Other levels took several sessions and lots of trial-and-error to figure out. Watching the trains successfully make it to their stations after I solved each level was just cool. I finished all of the levels then went back and solved them again to see if I could build them differently (more artistically laid out, or shorter train-travel times.)

Buy Trainyard.
And for playing games with other humans, buy Scorekeeper XL (also by Matt Rix) to help, well, keep score.
When you've conquered Trainyard, try my next favorite: Cut The Rope (not by Matt Rix.)

Matt, thank you very much for these two amazingly simple yet very well-thought-out and happy-making apps, Trainyard and Scorekeeper XL.
AlphaTangoFoxtrot,
A spectacular and unique puzzle game!
The mechanics of this game are amazing! I also love how there can be more than one solution to a puzzle, making your own solution creative. I also love to play around with the mechanics of the game just for my own amusement like the scissor contraption; just to see how many trains I can get on the field. Also the color mixing gives this game so much more depth and makes it more challenging, what many hardcore puzzle gamers are looking for.

Trainyard will put your brain through a rigorous thought process as the puzzles get harder, but it will feel good once you get all the logistics down and start to watch that amazing replay over and over again.
