VeinMere,
Unable the pair with all Sony cameras
Seems to work ok but needs improvement on the organization of photos as you take them. Would be great if it worked to automatically show you the photos as you take them, always displaying the latest. I was able to pair with the A7III with no problem but the program refuses to see the A7RIV. Both cameras work on the ImagingEdge Mobile on two different iOS devices. Issue appears to be with this particular app. Went through the troubleshooting process and issue still occurs.
Alpha Intercept,
Almost pointless on iPhones, thanks to Apple
The app relies on a Wi-Fi connection to the camera to FTP JPEGs. When there is no access point available, as is often the case for most of this app’s intended users, the app must use the phone’s hotspot to create an access point for the cameras.

The problem is that iPhones automatically turn off their hotspots when it detects no active connections. Every time this happens I have to take the phone out, re-enable the hotspot and restart the FTP server in the app. This happens when the camera idles to sleep, is turned off or has the FTP power save function enabled — in other words: All. The. Freaking. Time.

Do not fault Sony for this because it is Apple who forces this on users without an option to disable the timeout.

I’m sure this is less of an issue for sports photographers who have thousands of images transferring slowly enough that the hotspot connection never times out. But for photographers with more sporadic transfers like news photographers, this app is a no-go on the iPhone.
BurgundyRam,
A Step Back!
This app used to give me a professional edge by downloading from camera to phone. Now, I have no clue what is going on with the app and it is not user friendly. I used to choose pics from my camera, open the wifi setting on my phone and then open the app and the shots would download. No the app just has a home screen that is a bunch of technical jargon and worst yet, nothing downloads and it’s too complex to figure out.

GET RID OF THIS APP OR CREATE A VERSION LIKE THE OLD. This is useless and I’m losing productivity.
Path in AZ,
Doesn’t work
I have an A7riii and could NOT get pics to ftp over to my iPhone 12 Pro. The only way was to get pics from the imaging edge app, but that would be transferring them twice. Pointless. Even though I’m quite familiar with ftp servers, even following their directions was useless. Disappointing since I love everything else about the camera, and the imaging edge app works decent enough. This app was supposed to save steps, but in fact I only added more.
toddfd,
Typical
I am a Sony guy - virtually every piece of electronics I own is made by Sony. But that is because of the hardware, and is IN SPITE OF the absolutely awful user interfaces their software engineers (especially their camera software engineers) create, and this is no exception. My Imaging Edge app works - clunky, to be sure, but it works. I can’t even get this app to connect with the same camera that connects with Imaging Edge. Will Sony ever hire camera software engineers who know how to make things work simply and clearly by people who are not software engineers??
Bigpilot89,
Seems to have lost geotagging
The old playmemories app supported sharing location to the camera, this one seems to have lost this feature, which is very frustrating. Also built in navigation is sorely lacking. When browsing the cameras stores photos there is no way to exit that mode short of turning off the camera or quitting the app. Same goes for remote shooting. The old app was way better and should not have been discontinued.
NYC Adam,
Perfectly good app that is now more complicated that the cameras they service.
It’s honestly hard to think of why you would change a perfectly good app, alter or tweak it to upgrade it’s function. It now makes no sense, and apparently makes the super simplistic functions the old app had and makes them much more complex for no apparent reason except to add captions? I’m stumped, disappointed and baffled. How frustrating.
davidjs,
On the fly IPTC!
I’ve only used this app a little but it solves a huge problem when I’m shooting sports or events. I can do IPTC captions on the fly with this, that get sent along with the images, with presets for each shoot. Saves a trip to the desktop.
UnixBasedSam,
Absolute Trash....
Having to sign in it's not acceptable. I want nothing to do with your cloud. I just want the ability to transfer my files from my camera to my phone. No frills, no flash, just substance. Something this vaporware fails to deliver for the people that just wasn't working tools.
WorstUpdateEverX,
So far, won’t work on an iPad.
Tried this on 2019 iPad Pro 11” where I already edit photo and video.

App will only open in landscape mode on iPad; it ignores whatever the orientation the user has set for the tablet.

I’m sorry I wasted my time. Yet again Sony shows its weakness in software user interfaces.
