This version contains a bug fix for an issue that was preventing some users on older phones requesting in triple j's Requestival.

Yeehaw, ya big cactus. This update is small and contains almost no green spiky bits. What it DOES do is make AAC audio files respond better. We don't use them very often but it's better you being able to click on the audio and have it play, than what would have happened had we not pushed through this update -- which was going to be, you click on the audio and then your triple j app would go all green and spiky. Ouch! Can u imagine? The paramedics would have been like, "oh no, not this again." But we saved u.

This version of the triple j app takes you direct to Splendour In The Grass 2022! Like: not literally, you will not be on-site, rolling eagerly around in the fresh mud in the North Byron Parklands. But IN SPIRIT, muffin, you are there. Look! Colours! Animations! Live music! All inside of your Personal Mobile Device! Hell yea, dog. For a full and complete simulated festival experience, we recommend that you also hire a set of gumboots, a Flower Crown, and a porta-loo of questionable structural integrity for the duration of the festival. 4.5.5, is the brand new release from the triple j app; it is a step up both chronologically and development-wise for our product.

Chronologically, 5 is the number that comes after 4. It is a higher number. And everyone knows that when it comes to triple j app releases, the higher the number, the more impressive the release is in the chronology. We are doing great in that regard.

Development-wise, this release sees the completion of our migration to a new API delivery service that began at 4.5.0. The changes you will see on the surface are minimal but the changes to the code are like, Futurama level futuristic. It's all flying cars and jetpacks and (ethically appropriate) DNA cloning going on in there under the hood.

Like for example, imagine if you were a big car guy: you loved cars, thought all day about cars, dreamed about cars every night. And let's say one day you notice this one car called "triple j app", and it's all sparkly and glimmering and then you start to notice that there's celestial harps and majestic trumpets playing somewhere just off in the distance. So, obviously, you crank the bonnet right open, just crank it straight up, crankily, to have a see of what's going on in there. And then pretty much immediately you're like "WOAH" and you start crying because inside it's made of the shiniest chrome and it has the vroomiest engine you can imagine. You would be in heaven. That's basically what this is.

We are continuing to chip away at our infrastructure behind the scenes. If we have done our job well, you will notice no changes in this build (but things will overall be a bit better, faster, cooler).

We are continuing to roll out changes behind the scenes to make all of the pipes and plumbing of the app fit together smoother. Think of it as a combination of Mario (the enthusiastic plumber afraid of mushrooms) and Tetris (the terrifying game of getting all the little blocks to line up just right). If you did not read the update for the last version: firstly, very poor etiquette. I am furious. But basically the vibe is: We are doing a lot of work behind the scenes to make things better. Imagine like we are building a house or something, and the last update was, We Bought A Block Of Land, and now this update is, Now We're Laying The Concrete. Please do not write anything rude in the concrete.

Ok so do you know what a plumber does? Like, you kno how they get all up in there with the pipes and the wrenches and probably sometimes they're like: "hmmmm... we're going to need to pull out all the old pipes and put some some new pipes in here"? Basically that's what's happened in this app update: we've ripped out our old rusty yuck computer pipes and replaced them with legit sparkling brand new stainless steel pipes (or whatever good computer pipes are made of -- ceci n'est pas une pipe expert, u feel me?).

Why have we done this? The short answer is: new pipes = fast, clean, better for everyone. No clogging. Whereas, old pipes = full of goo, soon to be phased out. They gotta go.

Anyway: this is a plumbing update. No major design or feature changes. New pipes tho!

Oh baby!! A fresh new triple j App update for you to deeply enjoy. This one is jacked full of beautiful, integrated development protein: head to toe, top to bottom, no-nonsense-nourishment for your phone. Cuddle it at night if you want. Nobody can stop you (NB: if they do try to stop you, dump them pronto. They don't get you). Here's what's what:

- Better Carplay! It's fully beefed up. Performance enhanced. Zero ghosts.
- Some bug fixes! The vibe is, if you were having trouble adding your songs to Spotify, or if you were getting some weird bugs in there, our app developers have fixed that for you.
- Also, improved support for iOS 14 and 15. This will be the last update to support iOS 13. Get on that new iOS (it goes up to 15 now!!) to continue to get the best from us.

Nah -- realistically, this one is the next step in our ongoing uplift to the App's home screen. You'll note that the Double J and Unearthed player tiles now have had the same colour treatment we gave to triple j in 4.1.0. There are also some improvements to make performance better on our end. That's basically it. Got nothin' else for ya, grab your stuff and head back to camp.

Okay. Version 4.1.1. Here it is. We know you have been waiting with bated breath like: "Is It Coming?? Version 4.1.1?? Soon please??"

And like, Yes Babes. Here it is. This version is full of a whopping five or six bug fixes designed to make app performance smoother, just in time for the Hottest 100. Like, we're talking smooooooth, babes. Limited stubble, babes. No abrasive cuts or scrapes unless you do something super weird, babes. We fixed:


- the bug where the app player stopped appearing on the phone's lock screen
- the bug where the app would not resume playback if it was interrupted by something like a phone call or an alarm
- the thing where if you connected to bluetooth, there was sometimes some weird stuff going on with adjusting the volume
- the bug where if you listened back to an audio episode, the player would count down the remaining time in minutes only, rather than hours, minutes, and seconds.
- the bug where if you were trying to use Car Play, but the app wasn't already open, you couldn't user Car Play.
- some display stuff. correct sizings, fonts, situations where we were out by a couple of pixels here or there. Sorry about that one. All better now.

In this version, we're bringing the bells and whistles for triple j's Hottest 200-101 and Double J's Hottest 100 of 2001 countdowns. Some of the bells include a dedicated beautiful background for you to experience these countdowns in Pristine Colour and with All Of The Numbers Counting Down In Order. Good stuff. As far as whistles go, we also fixed some CarPlay bugs - so that should be way more chill now if you're listening to triple j via Carplay in your car.

Keep your eyes out for our upcoming release, 4.1.1, too. Not to get all "Big Things Coming" on u, but it's got a lot of fixes to a lot of annoying little bugs that will make your Hottest 100 experience just that bit more spesh.

Brand. New. Design. We've given the triple j App's home screen a face lift, a brow tint, and fresh coat of paint, and she's looking beau-ti-ful, babe. Now, you can add any song we're playing on triple j to your playlist on Spotify or Apple Music, just by pressing the big Plus button on the app's home screen. Look out for Emojis Reactions to pop up there, too, on Hottest 100 day. This is obviously a huge new development for you. We could not be happier for you. Your life just got so much better. Also, are you glowing? You are glowing. Wow.

Also, we fixed a bug where some users on specific models of iPhones were saying the radio would stop playing when they locked their phone. No longer. Bye bye. All fixed.

This version will maximise your upcoming Hottest 100 experience within the triple j app. I know, I know, I can hear you thinking: "but on the upcoming Hottest 100 day I will be spinning merrily around in an open paddock with six to eight of my closest friends, Omicron depending, and so what will I need the app for?? I am planning only to listen and spin merrily??? hello???"

Let me just say this in response: you will for sure need it, muffin. It will enhance your upcoming Hottest 100 experience to the maximum. Like, for example, please imagine the most maximum experience you can have. Are you picturing it? Good. Now, then temper your expectations a bit because we are a small team, but then find a comfortable middle ground because we are very good and we also work very hard, and that's what you ABSOLUTELY WILL GET from installing the triple j app version 3.6.0 on your precious device before the Hottest 100 of 2021 rolls around early in 2022.
